Perhaps a little OT but ... especially if you were developing a utility, product, component, sub-system ... blah .. blah, I've always been a proponent of having most all, if not all, ADCON's ( and even VCON's) in a separate module by itself.
This would in turn and in the long run, eliminate changes in the ESD / RLD which obviously, at least in my feeble mind, mitigate a lot of addressing type issues when actual code was or had to be reassembled / linked.
