Hi Tom, I do not know how to do this in 2016, but in 2010 Alt, H, U opens the bullets submenu and you would use your arrow keys to get to "None". I cannot remember the command for getting to the Numbers submenu, but in 2010 it is the item to the right of Bullets on the ribbon. Maybe someone can come up with the short cut. For some reason the short cut keys that are being announced when I check out my ribbon are not making sense.
Another idea is to see if your applications key brings up a context menu that offers a choice for turning off the numbering.
