That's a good one.

Here's an Irving Berlin story that was really true, much repeated when Sir
Isaiah Berlin, also Jewish, died.

During WWII, Sir Winston Churchill was so delighted with Sir Isaiah's
reports on current events from the DC embassy that when someone told him
Berlin was back in London briefly, he decided to invite him to dinner at 10
Downing Street.
Unfortunately, someone got their signals crossed and invited Irving Berlin,
also on a brief visit to London, instead.
Dinner is going smoothly although Izzie is a bit baffled by some of the
turns of the conversation. Finally, Winston asks him what he's working on
and when the PM can expect to see it. Berlin answers, "I'm writing something
called White Christmas and it should be done soon." And it's Sir Winston's
turn to be confused.

As Lenny Bruce would say, "Emmes."

of the president, or that we are to stand by
the president, right or wrong, is not only
unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable
to the American public."
