The student communities of North East Indian states along with civil societies,
social workers, Politicians, Human Rights Activists and Scholars demanded CBI
Enquiry on the brutal killing of Social Worker Yengkhom Krishnadas in a protest
held at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on June 24. Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh
Government has totally failed to keep the law and order situation of Manipur.

After the ultimatum submitted to Manipur Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh by Joint
Action Committee against the brutal killing of Yengkhom Krishnadas (JCA) to
arrest the culprits within seven days, has failed, the student communities of
the region protested in national Capital with memorandums submitted to the
President, Prime Minister and Home Minister, demanding CBI Enquiry.

Chief Minister’s failure to arrest the actual culprits after finding the clues
and arresting the kingpin persons has clearly revealed the hidden agenda of the
state Government. The public has lost the trust in state Government and its
police forces. The justice to deceased and his bereaved family members will
only be possible if the case is handed over to CBI.

The kingpin Th. Nando and two persons arrested from Sajiwa Jail in connection
with Krishnadas killing and recovering mobile handsets and SIM cards from their
custody reveals first, the home department of Manipur which is under care of
Chief Minister, has totally failed and secondly, a unambiguous game to divert
and cover the actual culprits of brutal killing of Krishnadas is being seen
played by O. Ibobi Singh and his police forces by throwing allegation on Th.
Nando and his two colleagues who are already languishing in the jail for other
crimes committed earlier. (Picture: Protest Rally at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi,

New Delhi based Human Rights Activist Madhu Chandra Spokes Person of North East
Support Centre & Helpline who leads to fight the discriminated meted out to
North East communities in Delhi and NCR, said, “Why the investigating Manipur
police officials failed to find out who is the main culprit(s) who instructed
the accused in police custody Smt. Seram Ashalata to collect the ransom of Rs
25 lakhs from Yengkhom (Ongbi) Bimola Devi, the wife of deceased Krishnadas on
June 11, 2009? Why not the investigation police officers failed to find out
from Ashalata, whom has she handed over the collected ransom of Rs 25 lakhs? No
body will trust that Ashalata has handed over to kingpin Th. Nando and two
other prisoners inside Sajiwa jail. If so why not the police official on duty
at Sajiwa Jail has been left out?”

“The public has huge cry, why investigation police official are able to find
out the kingpin Th. Nando and two other fellow prisoners from Sajiwa Jail who
are behind the bar in Sajiwa Jail and not the actual culprits roaming free
outside. The failure to find the actual culprits roaming free outside, can be
only for two reasons. First, the investigating police official and Government
concerned have failed to do the job, for which independent enquiry under CBI
should be instituted. Secondly, the investigating police official and
Government concerned know the actual culprits roaming free and they have been
covered and diverted by throwing the ball on Th. Nando and his two fellow
prisoners, who were languishing in Sajiwa jail for other crimes committed
earlier,” says Mr. Madhu Chandra.

In the protest rally held at Jantar Mantar yesterday in demand of justice to
Krishnadas killing, Dr. Udit Raj, President of All India Confederation of SC/ST
Organizations and Dr. John Dayal - Member of National Integration Council
joined the JAC (Delhi) demand of CBI Enquiry.

The JAC (Delhi) resolved to continue the agitation to fight for justice to
Krishnadas and his bereaved family members if the Manipur CM O Ibobi Singh
fails to arrest the culprits. JAC Delhi will bring the bereaved wife and two
years old daughter of deceased Krishnadas to national capital Delhi to make
delegations to highest officials of Indian Government with relay hunger strike.

assured their support to Justice Campaign for Krishnadas led by JAC (Delhi) and
North East Support Centre & Helpline along with student bodies of North East
India. A delegation represented by Yengkhom (Ongbi) Bimola the wife of deceased
Krishnadas and his two year old daughter to Prime Minister, President, Home
Minister, Social and Justice Minister, National Human Rights Commission and
National Women Commission, camp at New Delhi will be instituted soon to demand
CBI Enquiry if Manipur Government fails to arrest the actual culprits roaming
free outside.

Krishnadas was kidnapped by unknown person on June 10 at around 9.45PM from his
father-in-law home at Imphal. His family was demanded of Rs 2 crores as ransom
for his safe release. He was cruelly tortured and killed brutally after the
payment of ransom scaled down to Rs 25 lakhs. The text of the memorandum
submitted by JAC (Delhi) along with Manipur Students Association – Delhi,
United Kakching Students – Delhi, North East Support Centre & Helpline and
various individuals and social workers to the President, Prime Minister and
