The beautiful piece of hair lace in the collection of Northampton Museums is needle lace and is in varying shades of blonde and light brown - we were lucky to be able to display it in the expo in 1999.

Some years ago someone asked if I could make a piece of lace from horse hair. They supplied hair from a horses tail and I attempted what turned out to be a very short piece of torchon!! It was very brittle - either from a very old tail or a very old horse ;o)

There's also a piece in the Northampton Museum and Margaret Tite has a piece in her collection. They're both beautiful, especially since they use blonde, brown, and black hair.

When I was "studying" for a few days at the Luton Museum, the then curator brought me a piece of human hair lace to see. It was a veil to a hat. I never thought to photograph it, but it remains a fortunate memory of mine.
