Events this week: Event Date: Feb 18, 2004 - Feb 28, 2004 Theatre, Film and Humour - The Crass Motor Show, by Keep Left Theatre: KEEP LEFT THEATRE Presents The CRASS Motor Show By Chris Gaffney (adapted from the Motor Show by Paul Thompson & Steve Gooch) Directed By Susanna Duffy Keep Left Theatre presents the story of Henry Crass, a no nonsense, in your face entrepreneur based loosely on Henry Ford who in 1903 founded the Ford Motor Company. Ford was a noted union hater and anti Semite who brought Ford To Australia in 1923. The rise and rise of Crass from bastard to corporate bastard has touched quite a few hearts and even more pockets. Crass employs many a theatrical device, a broad comic vision and some really great songs With a top cast of 16, and over 61 characters, this is a fast moving, satirical musical comedy about greed on wheels and the people who are run over. . This night of Keep Left Theatre is not to be missed. Meet one of the new rulers of the world. Meet Mr. Crass at 8.00P.M. from the 18th to the 28th of February at Trades Hall Victoria Street Carlton South. 3053 Concessions available Find out more. : http://www.leftlink.net/index.php?module=PostCalendar&func=view&Date=20040218&viewtype=details&eid=42&print= Event Date: Feb 09, 2004 - Mar 02, 2004 Meetings - Organising Meetings for International Womens' Day Rally: International Women's Day is fast approaching, the theme for this years rally is Women Against War, Racism & Sexism. Two Important Public Forums Wednesday 25th February Thursday 26th February, 2004 Adelaide Convention Centre, North Tce (next to Railway Station) As part of its licensing process, the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), the federal nuclear regulator, is holding a public forum in Adelaide on the plan to build a national radioactive waste dump here in South Australia. It is important that we let ARPANSA know that the dumping of nuclear waste is unacceptable. We urge as many people as possible to attend either or both days of the forum. In particular, we ask people to make every effort to come to a protest against the dump out the front of the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday, February 25, at 9.30am. And please: spread the word. The planned dump is opposed by key Indigenous groups such as the Kupa Piti Kungka Tjuta, the Kokatha Native Title Group, and ATSIC. Last year the federal government seized control of land near Woomera for the dump site using compulsory land acquisition powers, annulling Native Title rights in the process. The dump is illegal under SA law and is clearly against the will of the SA people. ARPANSA has received over 1000 written submissions, over 99% of them opposing the dump. Wednesday, February 25 the ARPANSA panel - comprising ARPANSA CEO John Loy, Dr Ian Lowe from Griffith University, and George Jack, recently retired from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission - will hear from representatives of the Kupa Piti Kungka Tjuta, the SA Government, the Australian Conservation Foundation, Friends of the Earth Australia, and other critics of the planned dump. Thursday, February 26 the federal overnment will appear before the panel, as well as the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation which operates the nuclear reactor plant at Lucas Heights in Sydney. ANSTO is responsible for 81-90% of the waste destined for the shallow, unlined dump. Come along and show your opposition to South Australia becoming Australia's Radioactive Waste Dump.
