3590 attached how? By controller with Ficon/Escon, or SCSI through some FC converter? If Ficon, then this works and has been for years. I myself have 4x 3590-E11 attached to 3590-A60 salvaged from a disused 3494 library. With the 3590 drivers in Suse or Redhat I assume it will work too, but I never had a need to try it as I have FC attached LTO drives as well. If SCSI it will work with the IBMtape driver from any reasonable Linux distro, but will not work for z/VM itself, because z/VM has not tools to take advantage of FC attached drives.
