What distribution are you using? This sounds like a distro-specific
problem.

My distribution is "Redhat 8"; if the computer is "on", i can change
detection and my usb-mouse and cd-writer are intact over the '4 port usb
hub"; but if i start with the hub i could read this message in "dmesg":
usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=3 (error=-110); so i "took a
walk through the internet", but everything i had found that may be i
have to recompile the kernel.
Nevertheless thank's for your answer!
Thomas

Yes, for the message appears after booting with the 'hub' alone and then connecting both (mouse and cd-writer) usb devices: "USB device 4 (vend/prod 0x3f0/0x207) is not claimed by any active driver".
"Linux USB Faq" told that the driver is included in usbcore, what i have found with 'lsmod'.
It's a little bit confused, cause in that moment by starting the machine and switching to the bios-screen before the start-up begins i could install the hub with usb devices and everything followed in order. Otherwise i try to start from the ground i get no function.
(My system is "Redhat 8" with kernel 2.4.18-14 in that way i don't want to change or upgrade the kernel state cause my graphic card (nvidia) act best wit this version.)
May be i have to bring back the hub to the seller.
Cheers Thomas
