Thanks to both Andrew and to Al for your brainstorming on the national
security issue of withholding of the patent for NIMH batteries by
ChevronTexaco. On pages 44 and 45 in Plug-in Hybrids, The Cars That Will
Recharge America by Sherry Boschert she outlines this cause/effect
relationship. She writes on pg. 45... (First, necessary background,"ECD and
ChevronTexaco formed an equal partnership in the spinoff battery company,
now called Cobasys." p. 44.
"The Cobasys battery plant in Springboro, OH, that opened in 2003, is
capable of making millions of NiMH batteries per year. Will Cobasys sell any
that are larger than the NiMH batteries used in hybrids? Only time - and the
market for plug-in hybrids - will tell".
I say, "No, only the focused political will of the people of this country
will be enough to demand the release of this critically needed technology so
we can create the efficient electric vehicles that this country needs to
turn around this planet-threatening issue."
Shall we take this on? I see enough talent in our small FLEAA to begin this,
to organize it, and to hand it on to other EV groups so they can lend their
expertise to it. Why not?
Fran
Al, your writing about this was wonderful! You asked for some editing help
and I wrote up some suggestions. You can email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and I will work out a way to get these editing suggestions to you.
