That appears to be an option.

You will have to manually install it and select it in grub though, as
the Destkop and Alternate Ubuntu installers use the desktop kernel by
default.

Consider 64-bit software for future installs though, as it does tend
to work quite well and will give you less hassle moving forward,
particularly as you add more RAM.
