Hm. For some reason, the <BIBINPUTS" variable cannot be set in the *Paths* submenu of the Tools/Preferences. Perhaps that would be a logical place to set it?
(And what is the default location of pdf files, rendered by Ctrl+r? They are not automatically placed in the same directory as the "source" document.) Ah - I checked with my other <favourite> -- SWP. In SWP, the path for the bibliography files is set up in the *editor*, *not* in the document. Thus, these kinds of problems are avoided. Maybe I can do the same in LyX... -Bernt From: lyx-users@lists.lyx.org<mailto:lyx-users@lists.lyx.org> [mailto:lyx-users@lists.lyx.org] On Behalf Of Bernt Lie Sent: Friday, August 12, 2016 08:39 To: Richard Heck <rgh...@lyx.org<mailto:rgh...@lyx.org>>; lyx-users@lists.lyx.org<mailto:lyx-users@lists.lyx.org> Subject: RE: Bibliography location... ? Where is the document? I thought we tried to use relative paths. [cid:image001.png@01D1F477.27CFCB30] It would be better if LyX skipped the <C:/Users/<username>/", and inserted this part automatically based on the actual user set-up. The way it is now, the file location is hard coded. -Bernt -----Original Message----- From: Richard Heck [mailto:rgh...@lyx.org] Sent: Thursday, August 11, 2016 21:11 To: Bernt Lie <bernt....@hit.no<mailto:bernt....@hit.no>>; lyx-users@lists.lyx.org<mailto:lyx-users@lists.lyx.org> Subject: Re: Bibliography location... The best way is to put your BibTeX file in a place where LaTeX will find it, and then define the BIBINPUTS environment variable to point there. This can be different on the two machines. Then LyX will jut record the file as "yourfile.bib" or whatever. Richard
