Good suggestions. I'm adding some more, even if these go way beyond what could be expected of a single GSoC project - but it would be cool to have them all :) * ability to merge multiple layers (hillshading, contour lines, highlighting of routes or POIs, ...) * Copyright/Attribution line (e.g. CC requires the full URL to the license on printed maps) * "North" arrow (important with a rotated map, see http://www.ancalime.de/rotated.html) * Legend tailored to what is actually seen on the printed map (vs. what is in the style file for this zoomlevel) * Gazetteer (take a look at http://maposmatic.org), maybe including a list of interesting features (hotels, public transport stations, ...)
