Greetings: This is the Syracuse Rare Bird Alert for the week of July 31, 2017.
Highlights--------------LEAST BITTERNBLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONWHITE-RUMPED

Montezuma National Wildlife Complex (MNWC) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)------------
     11 species of Shorebirds were reported at the complex this week.     7/31: 
This is the last report of the RED-HEADED WOODPECKER(S) on Mays Point Road. A 
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was reported at Seneca Flats along the Wildlife Drive.   
  8/4: A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was seen on Towpath Road.     8/6: A PROTHONOTARY 
WARBLER was seen on Rt.89 at the Bridge by MaysPoint Road. A LEAST BITTERN was 
seen on the Wildlife Drive. 2 BLACK TERNS were see at Tschache Pool.

Onondaga County------------
     8/1: 9 species of Shorebirds including a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were seen on 
Waters Road north of Rt. 80 east of Fabius     8/3: A HENSLOW’S SPARROW was 
found in the Fields above the Camping area at Green Lakes State Park. It was 
reported through 8/5.      8/4: A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW and a PRAIRIE WARBLER 
were reported at Green Lakes State Park.

Oswego County------------
     7/31: A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen on the breakwall in Oswego 
Harbor. It was reported through 8/2.      8/2: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen 
on West Lake Road south of Oswego.      8/5: A FORSTER’S TERN and a SANDERLING 
were seen at Sandy Island State Park on Lake Ontario. A LEAST BITTERN was seen 
at the Maple Ave wetland west of Oswego.

Madison County------------
     7/31: An ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen on Ditchbank Road north of Chittenango.

Oneida County------------
     8/1: This was the last report of the LITTLE GULL at Sylvan Beach on Oneida 
Lake.     8/3: A SANDERLING was seen at Sylvan Beach.

Herkimer county------------
     7/31: An ORCHARD ORIOLE was seen on Cederville Road in the Town of 
Litchfield.     ---end transcript
