September 26, 2022

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)




     9/26: A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was seen at South Spring Pond.

     9/27: 2 HUDSONIAN GODWITS were seen at Knox Marsellus Pool and lingered 
through 10/2.

     9/29: An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was seen on the Wildlife Drive. A 
LINCOLN’S SPARROW was seen at Martens Tract.

     10/1: A PHILADELPHIA VIREO was found on VanDyne Spoor Road.

     10/2: 5 Warbler species including PARULA were seen at East Road. Also seen 
was a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER.







Cayuga County

------------




     10/1: 3 SWAINSON’S THRUSHES were heard at Fair Haven State Park. Warblers 
seen at West Barrier Bar Park included BAY BREASTED, BLACKBURNIAN, BLACKPOLL 
and ORANGE-CROWNED. Also found was a very cooperative LAPLAND LONGSPUR.







Oswego County

------------




     9/26: A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was found at the Sandy Pond Outlet on Lake 
Ontario.

     9/28: A CACKLING GOOSE was seen at the Oswego County Airfield. A LINCOLN’S 
SPARROW was seen on Paddy Lake Road east of Oswego. An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER 
was seen at the Rt. 6 Sod Farm north of Phoenix.

     9/29: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen at Mexico Point State Park.

     9/30: A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen in Constantia.

     10/1: 6 GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES were heard from night calls in Oswego.

     10/2: 2 SANDHILL CRANES and a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER were seen at the 
Sandy Pond Outlet.







Onondaga County

------------




     9/26: An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse,

     9/27: 2 GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES were found at Three Rivers WMA north of 
Baldwinsville.

     9/29: A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen at Jamesville reservoir. An 
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen in Manlius.

     9/30: An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, a LINCOLN’S SPARROW and a PHILADELPHIA 
VIREO were all seen at the Gerber Top Soil Farm.

     10/01: A GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was seen in Manlius and at the Onondaga Lake 
Park. An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at Three Rivers WMA. A BLACK-CROWNED 
NIGHT-HERON was seen on the West Shore Train of Onondaga Lake.

     10/02: GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES were seen at Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton 
and the Onondaga Lake West Shore Trail. A SURF SCOTER was seen at the Onondaga 
Lake Visitor’s Center in Liverpool.







Madison County

------------




     10/01: A WILSON’S WARBLER was seen at Woodman Pond north of Hamilton.







Oneida County

------------




     9/27: A WILSON’S WARBLER was seen on Lakeshore Drive north of Verona beach.

     9/29: 2 BLACK VULTURES continue at an abandoned barn on Rt. 46 Just south 
of Rome.







Herkimer County

------------




     9/26: A LINCOLN’S SPARROW and a SWAINSON’S THRUSH were seen near Salisbury 
Center.

     9/30: A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen from Rt. 29 near Fairfield.
