I disagree.  The burden placed on the overall system due to the use of
Perl (or any other implementation choice) _is_ an architectural issue.

What about using shell scripts instead of perl? Oh, wait... I
forgot... Solaris doesn't use ksh93 as /bin/sh. What a pity :-(
