Someone's clearly misunderstanding something.

I didn't know that OpenSolaris had a designated expert for tar file
format, or that you were in fact that gatekeeper.  That's good to
learn.

It might perhaps be anything from "acting on imperfect information" to
"cluelessness," depending on the context.  I don't see anything here
that signals some sort of "fight."
