This ship has sailed many, many years ago, Jörg.  The workload imposed on
you is probably dwarfed in comparison to the actual problem of TS 8
customers not being able to restore backups.

You don't have to support that feature of Sun's tar; but Sun MUST provide
that feature for our customers.

Equal rights does not mean that everyone gets their way.  There is no
requirement for a distribution to ship Sun's tar, for one.
