As a general comment. I am aware of the regression in some of the osgShadow implementations, these alas seem to have come in along with fixes with to other problems. I don't which set of changes broke things for which sets of models though.. a clear case for more osgShadow related unit tests.
One problem with multipass techniques like shadowing is the variability of things like glPolygonOffset, so to this end I think we need to isolate this side completely and test it on its own. I'm currently thinking about writing a new OSG example that will just test glPolygonOffset and then we can all try the example out and share screenshots so we can get a picture of what hardware does what with what settings. Use of osg::Depth as an alternative is something that could also be explored at the same time. I'm heading offline now, catch up w' you all in the morn.
