Hi Matthias, I am using 10.7. Send me a link or a sample file to me off-list, and I'll try it on my end. This file ( https://dl.dropbox.com/u/697565/greyscale_32bit.tif ) worked on my end.
I made a small patch to the imageio-plugin ( https://github.com/stmh/osg/commit/66efda74ebf3b289fa2d55866023f59196d052a2 ) to support 16bit PNGs, and I'll submit it to osg.submissions in the next days.
