Hello!
Paul, David, (welcome to the group by the way.), the DS2423 counter chip is
a strange animal. It requires an external power supply to run it. Also it
requires specialized devices attached to its counter inputs, the data sheet
specifies them, but essentially a mechanical reed switch will do that. If
its not powered or the switches stay open for an extended period then
everything looks worse then an aircraft in a stall situation.

Oh and David, you've just made one of the first generation problems new
again. That was my first big problem, how to apply the DS2423 without
looking lost or problematic. I still haven't resolved it.

Nothing obvious on the code. Are you certain there is no hardware problem?
