Yes that is exactly what I did, but still had the empty directory 
problem.  Removed it and installed 2.9p0 and it is fine.

I am using the Sheepwalk Electronics RP12 adapter, works well.  My 
network is all powered and with the RP11 you can pick up power for the 
RasPi , but when I tried that it did not seem to be totally reliable, so 
I have gone back to a separate supply.  They are developing one with 4 
1-wire channels but I don't think it is available yet.
