We just bought a bunch of Nikon 5700 Coolpixs at work. I gotta tell ya for around $600 its one heck of a camera. IIR the optical range goes from 1.2 " (super macro) to 280mm (in 35mm format sense). It will do everything the 35mm slrs they replace did. It's really funny watching my fellow workers trying to come to grips with the workings of the digital. They won't read the manual and consequently are trying to convince all that will listen that the digitals won't cut it.
