If I’m on a job I take a backup body and just about everything else that I
might possibly use: ten lenses, two flashes, multiple batteries and chargers,
a tripod, two heads, a couple of reflectors, a short ladder and my knee pads.
Of course, that’s when I can drive to the location. For fly-in jobs I take what
I can fit in a carry on, but always two bodies. On a short day trip with photos
as a goal, I take just a body and the lens or lenses I think I’ll want to use.
If I ever was able to take a vacation, which is doubtful, I think I’d just take
a body, a couple of lenses and a flash. My last vacation was 18 years ago and
it was really for the kids. I think I took a Spotmatic F and a couple of
lenses. On a vacation I would probably want to leave the photography behind for
the most part.
