Maybe the lens is a gem. If you're lucky it has a M39 mount and
aliexpress and others offer adapters from M39 to M42 or K mount. Add a
helicoid and maybe you have a new lens.
The column could function as a nice copy stand with some DIY to attach
a Manfrotto or Kirk adapter.
