Grizzly (http://grizzly.com/products/index.html) has a little 1"
micrometer for $7; but it's not what you use to measure holes. I got
one to measure ground glass to film plane distances. Anyhow, search
there on "caliper", "micrometer", etc. to get a feel for what's
available. They also have a nice little 6" vernier caliper/1"
micrometer/feeler guage combination for not all that much.
