I cant resist but to ask our linux gurus here on their opinion 
regarding this issue.
        The summary is: I am both right and wrong. Or, we are both 
right and wrong.
        Their unbiased opinions:

Guru#1 The definition of "Linux is a kernel" or "Linux is an OS" is context 
dependent. Meaning both definitions are correct. It depends on what issue 
you are discussing.

Guru#2 In the early days of Linux, Linux is the kernel and GNU/Linux is 
the OS. Now, the word Linux has evolved and has been overused to mean 
that Linux is an OS. 

        
        I hope that we all learn from this discussion by playing on the
issue not on unrelated things.
