I've just plugged QPC into my work PC running Windows 2000 - with QPC sitting there doing nothing the CPU is fine. When I simply move the move across the display, CPU flat lines at 100% - so your set up is not likely to be the cause. Better get it unplugged now - I'll get shot for having unauthorised devices plugged in!
