Evening Rich,

Thinking about it - which emulators can use a qxl.win file maybe we just
need a smaller subset of this which would be floppy disk size?

Can someone please share the details of this format?

go to http://qdosmsq.dunbar-it.co.uk and there is a section on QL
filestystems. I have documented the QXL/QPC "hard disk" there.

The direct link to the article itself is
http://qdosmsq.dunbar-it.co.uk/doku.php?id=qdosmsq:fs:qlwa (Hopefully
that stays all on one line!)

Cheers,
Norman.

Hi Norman,

I did not want to discuss this with the list, and wondered if you may be interested in a little project I have in the back of my mind.

Basically, someone has devised a piece of hardware which connects to a floppy disk port on a computer and then provides a USB connection to a PC which can act as a fileserver where disks are stored. See http://hxc2001.free.fr/floppy_drive_emulator/index.html#USBFloppyemulator

QL hard disks could be stored and read using the RAW format, but I think it would be more useful if QXL.WIN files could be accessed - particularly when you come to the bottom of the page, where the designer is working on a SD card version of this hardware, so that you do not need to be hardwired to a PC.

The source code for dealing with the file formats is available on the site also - written in C++.

Any thoughts or comments you may have would be much appreciated
