Thanks a lot for the tip, Dave. I'm not sure that's the problem, though. Some C programs start up & run OK (eg bogompis, gccdhrystone). Some programs start up OK, but then hang indefinitely (eg c68dhruystone). I'll check your tip out, though, of course.
