The way staff grouping is implemented works fine. Grand staffs are grouped by 
a brace but there are "plain" braces and braces inside a bracket group. The 
option "Export multistave instrument" let's a uses choose whether "plain" 
brace are used to export to a grand staff or braces inside brackets also 
should create a grand system.

A grand staff is what I meant by multistaff. Sorry for the confusion.
