Thanks, Ted. Unfortunately, that sinks the only hypothesis I had.
The thing is, the stuff that happens before that doesn't seem to depend
much on setup.
* We're pretty sure it's not the driver end.
* The notes don't even get that far.
* It's 100% dependent on setup
* It's 100% dependent on "auto" vs "fixed"
* Where it happens, it occurs on a number of files and even on preview
notes.
Preview notes play thru a different mechanism than playback. That clears
code specific to one or the other (ImmediateNote, MappedBufMetaIterator,
and all the mappers) and suggests the problem lies in their shared
support, possibly ChannelManager, AllocateChannels, or ChannelInterval.
I am trying the various preference options to see if anything has this
effect, but so far nothing does.
