It's possible it's sending on invalid channel -1. I'll will check whether
it does that and if so, stop it, which shouldn't hurt anything.

Yes, it would. I thought I'd given it a thorough workout by creating a
piece in it end-to-end, from new document to publication (actually my most
popular piece to date), but as we're seeing, that didn't find everything.
