We just got two more. I went back through the user list again and got rid of maybe 10 more that were highly suspicious. The way this keeps going on and on has gotten on my last nerve. I took another look at doing something proactive instead of reactive about the problem, and I changed the configuration so that newly created accounts go in the "quarantine" group instead of the "user" group. I can't think of a polite way to come up with some kind of introductory page accessible to members of that group that explains what the deal is. This means the next legitimate person who creates an account and tries to edit something will be frustrated, and hopefully complain. It's not friendly, but honestly, Chris, we haven't had a new user with real intent to edit anything in months, and we've had this rash of spam to deal with. I have a low tolerance for dealing with spam. Every second the spam continues to exist on our wiki completely pisses me off. I think we should leave it like this for awhile and see what happens, but it's easy enough to revert what I just did if you disagree. s/quarantine/user/ on the admin page and there you go, all done. Spammers, please eject yourselves into the nearest star. Thanks. -- D. Michael McIntyre ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites.
