Some (expensive) keyboard controllers actually do send the position of
the sustain pedal as a value from 0 - 127, and some synths (e.g.
Pianoteq) do make use of the intermediate values.

Not that I have either Pianoteq or a nice keyboard, but I guess there
might be some use in being able to ramp 'sustain' event values.
