   As Michael indicated, you'll need to build your own kernel to fix it 
for now.  If you want to escalate with Ubuntu, the details are here:

   One of the comments there indicates that fiddling with the timer 
source helped.  Might be worth a try and a few system crashes.

   Let us know if you decide to escalate with Ubuntu.  I might at some 
point, but I've got a lot on my plate right now.
