It takes into account (most of) the issues you raised. I have not yet

Much cleaner! Thanks. A bit more invasive, but it might be nice to have a "development" button/sublink set (perhaps in the place of search, if the search box up top were more visible). The plethora of links/icons in the top right also could use some cleanup, and of course the downloads, but I'm just talking rather than doing so I'll just leave it at that.
