Re: [Dx4win] CW announce, nil
Thank you so much for the replies. Always good to have extra tools in the toolbox you never seem to have enough lol Right now I don’t even know if I’m looking for a file for just a button I have to push. Looking at “help” I don’t see how CW announce works (calling out needed incoming spots) How do you troubleshoot it when it’s not working? 73 Bernie/WO2N.> > On Mar 12, 2023, at 10:52 AM, David Kozinn, K2DBK wrote: > > I agree with Lee, I've been using this for longer than I can remember and > it's saved me countless hours of digging around trying to find something. > > -Original Message- > From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On > Behalf Of LEE HALLIN > Sent: Sunday, March 12, 2023 3:16 AM > To: w...@att.net; dx4win@mailman. net > Subject: Re: [Dx4win] CW announce, nil > > I have found a program called "everything" (Freeware from > https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/) extremely handy in tracking files down. > It searches all your drives (hard or SSD) for a file name or wildcarded name > you specify (Ex: *.DXQ) and then displays a list. Hi , I got the voice announce working by allowing Windows media files to open it ,from the Sound file in Dx4win save I don’t see where the CW files are and how to activate the CW announce ? It’s just used to work by choosing it. Default beep works and the sound audio works but the CW is dead. Jorge, See if your sound card has a set of pins that you can push on the connector that presently goes to your PC's internal speaker. Some do, but many do not. If it has two inputs for more than one CD-Rom drive, you can also use one of these if one is still available, and not being used, but you must use a swamping resistor to limit the input to the sound card to near line level vs.the PC speaker level. That's the only way, as the software just talks to the PC speaker circuitry as designed, likely with the assumption that you can still use it without a sound card and to make it work without any added hardware requirements. 73, -=Rog-K9RB=- - Original Message - From: Jorge Garc?a [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, January 27, 2005 9:28 AM Subject: [Dx4win] cw announce Dr. Paul, in ver. 6.04 spots CW announce still through the small speaker of the computer?Let me know if there are a solutiontnx es 73,jorge garcia/EA8ASE ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

Jorge, Your e-mail bounced when I replied just to your e-mail address, so I had to go through the reflector. One more thing, some later model PC mainboards, with audio built on to the mainboard, have provisions for doing this with a jumper or just automatically and no PC speaker exists in these systems. -=Rog-K9RB=- - Original Message - From: Roger Borowski [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Jorge Garc?a [EMAIL PROTECTED]; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, January 27, 2005 8:05 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] cw announce Jorge, See if your sound card has a set of pins that you can push on the connector that presently goes to your PC's internal speaker. For some mysterious reason that doesn't work. Although I have declared C:\program files\qrz ham radio\callbk as my data directory in the preferencesEXT DATA menu, I get a database not found error. However, if I put the original CD ROM in my ROM drive, it returns the proper information. In other words, despite my declaring the C: drive as the data drive, DX4WIN is getting the data from the CD ROM and refuses to access the C: drive when the CD ROM is removed.
