Thank you so much for the replies.
Always good to have extra tools in the toolbox you never seem to have enough lol
Right now I don’t even know if I’m looking for a file for just a button I have
to push.
Looking at “help” I don’t see how CW announce works (calling out needed
incoming spots)
How do you troubleshoot it when it’s not working?

I have found a program called "everything" (Freeware from
https://www.voidtools.com/downloads/) extremely handy in tracking files down.
It searches all your drives (hard or SSD) for a file name or wildcarded name
you specify (Ex: *.DXQ) and then displays a list. You can sort by any column
displayed by clicking the column heading. I often sort by the "Date Modified"
column so most recently modified files will show first. That's usually when I
find the file created some place I wasn't expecting. It also supports MANY
languages.

[Dx4win] CW Announce

2010-01-23 Thread wo2n
Hi,
Anyone know of a command to tell the computer to send all sound to
external speakers?
This would solve the CW Announce via internal speaker, especially now that
my tower is under the desk, hi.

No such thing Bernie. DX4Win is till using an archaic method of generating
the sidetone using the PC speaker which was really only intended to give
audible beeps for troubleshooting computers long before sound hardware was
standard. Hopefully it is one of the items on Paul's todo list.

[Dx4win] cw announce

2005-01-27 Thread Roger Borowski
Jorge, See if your sound card has a set of pins that you can push on the
connector that presently goes to your PC's internal speaker. Some do, but
many do not. If it has two inputs for more than one CD-Rom drive, you can
also use one of these if one is still available, and not being used, but you
must use a swamping resistor to limit the input to the sound card to near
line level vs.the PC speaker level. That's the only way, as the software
just talks to the PC speaker circuitry as designed, likely with the
assumption that you can still use it without a sound card and to make it
work without any added hardware requirements.

Jorge, Your e-mail bounced when I replied just to your e-mail address, so I
had to go through the reflector. One more thing, some later model PC
mainboards, with audio built on to the mainboard, have provisions for doing
this with a jumper or just automatically and no PC speaker exists in these

In all honesty, I don't know, but I think it's supposed to come out of the
sound card speakerse.

On my upstairs Dell, I get needed spots system beeps on the sound card
speakers. The sound card is an Audigy 2.

On my downstairs Dell, I don't get any needed spots system beeps. The sound
cards is a Soundblaster Live!.

Both copies of DX4WIN are configured exactly the same in this regard.

I'm hoping that when I replace the downstairs sound card with a Turtle Beach
Santa Cruz, I'll start to get sounds.

Move your 'callbk' directory to the root of C drive, C:/callbk. Then
set in
