Hi,
Several years ago I bought a box of about 30 lace bobbins from Skinners.
They are the auction house that is often seen on Antiques Road Show, at
least the US version. It is also right down the street from my house. They
also designated the bobbins as ivory. I really don't think that
Late last year I did a class in Russian tape lace with Nadine Pauwels
when she was visiting Australia. Among the lace pieces she brought
for display, were some beautiful tape lace mats including a circular
one about 2 ft (80 cm) in diameter and some long rectangular mats.

I have seen large mats done both on a large pillow and by using just a segment
(slightly over 1 repeat) on a smaller pillow. Sometimes the pricking itself

sorry again, had to go to the list, not private.

how to make this lace! I'll be interested to see the answers others have
for you!

Hi,
Thought I'd put my two cents in on the subject of IVORY BOBBINS. Yes,
there are ivory bobbins out there and there are bone bobbins out there.
Please don't tell someone a bobbin is not ivory just by looking at a picture
of it or seeing it on TV. Many years ago my husband and I were

Has anyone noticed this, or is it just
me being awkward? Can it make a difference to
tensioning, or anything else that might matter?
My first 5-metre piece was
