[blind-gamers] Gorilla's Playthrough, described video games

2023-03-15 Thread CluelessGorilla
Hey all,

It's been a while so I hope that those of you who I already know on here are
doing well.
For those unfamiliar with me, I describe & narrate game playthroughs for the
visually impaired. I also provide audio guides for certain games to help with
navigating options & menus. Looking to share my love of games with people.

https://www.youtube.com/@GorillasPlaythrough/ (
https://www.youtube.com/@GorillasPlaythrough/videos )

All are fully voiced thanks to some great voice actors who are gracious enough
to assist. Here are some of the most recent episodes:

Baldur's Gate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRZR4IuA5ms

Final Fantasy VII Remake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64fPL0pGJhA

Death Stranding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB6UWJCCbU0

Yakuza 0: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrd6QQvde4o

Excavation of Hob's Barrow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ_d-dWIY_M

Also available on all podcasts.

Thanks for checking it out.

Re: [blind-gamers] Gorilla's Playthrough, Elden Ring

2022-03-06 Thread CluelessGorilla
Hey Shaun,

Good to hear from you. I am fortunate enough to have found a few good and
talented people who are willing to take the time to contribute their voice to
characters. While they also guest narrated some of the past Baldur’s Gate
episodes, I am still the narrator for Gorilla’s Playthrough.
Elden Ring and the upcoming Baldur’s Gate episode, for example, are me
narrating.
Regarding the MP3 downloads, I do not, but the podcast files are all MP3. I
can try to find a way to make them downloadable on the website at some point,
if you’d like.

Re: [blind-gamers] Baldur's Gate, Part 6

2020-08-25 Thread CluelessGorilla
Good feedback. How is everyone feeling about the combat now that we’re 6 parts
in: I’ve been continue to read off the damage dealt during the combat
sequences (10 middle damage from Imoen) etc.
Does this still add to the experience, or does it bog it down with time.

There’s one other thing I’m looking for feedback on from anyone here:
I’m going to be doing a Telltale game in the future. For anyone unfamiliar,
they usually give you an allotted time to press buttons to give a response to
dialogue options which may alter the story.
I can do it the same way as Baldur’s Gate, pick the choice and then keep the
story flowing. The other option would be for me to pause the video, explain
which buttons correlate with each dialogue option. If I go that route, it
flows less, but that may make somewhat accessible to anyone looking to play the
game themselves.

Thanks Travis! I used to read the choose your own path books.

There’s definitely some choose your own adventure stuff in there. With each
dialogue, you have a few options as to what to say, some are actually really
funny.

Speaking of that, I had someone inquire about possibly reading all of the
dialogue options when they present themselves. What is everyone’s preference
on doing that? As of right now, I choose a response and only read that one.
The alternative is to read all of the possible options.

Thanks Robert, I actually began recording an episode of Last of Us, but ended
up settling on Death Stranding. Last of Us is high on the priority list, and
the voice acting on it may be the best I’ve ever heard in any game.

Re: [blind-gamers] Death Stranding

2020-04-11 Thread CluelessGorilla
Juan,

I play the games, and I narrate the audio description. Kind of like an
audiobook.

I’m not blind, started it a few months ago, looking to share my love of games
with people. Since then also met some good people and had good discussions
about the games, so there’s that too.

[blind-gamers] Death Stranding

2020-04-11 Thread CluelessGorilla
Hi all,

Death Stranding, narrated:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDDZ-OW … e=youtu.be (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDDZ-OWnRaM=youtu.be )

And link for the podcast crowd:
https://anchor.fm/gorillasplaythrough/e … gue-eckhvi (
https://anchor.fm/gorillasplaythrough/episodes/A-Death-Stranding-Story--Part-1-Prologue-eckhvi
 )

Hope you like it.

Also, some updates:
Been working on part 3 of Baldur's Gate, fairly long video because it's
Baldur's Gate, which should be up very soon.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake (the full game) is on the way to me from Amazon,
hopefully.
At this point it's safe to say that those will be the 2 or 3 games that you'll
be seeing on the standard rotation, due to the positive feedback.  I'll
probably pepper in another game here and there as well.

Stay safe!

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the feedback. I do not have an answer in regards to how much vision
is required to play it. I’m learning more about that, the more I get to know
you guys.
The YouTube video I posted is the actual gameplay, which I narrate.
As far as how it’s played, the entirety of the game is pointing and clicking.

2020-03-02 Thread CluelessGorilla
Johnny,

I’ll play around with it sometime and see how it comes out. RE 7 is on our
suggestion list, and I have that game so it’s definitely a possibility. I own
God of War as well, and I only played very little of it. I think due to the
heavy RPG aspects of God of War, that game could work well too, and I’ll put it
on the suggestion list so we don’t forget.

Re: [blind-gamers] Gorilla's Playthrough: Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, narrated

2020-03-01 Thread CluelessGorilla
Hey Robert,

Correct, the battles are in real time. There are a lot of swing and misses on
both sides of the fight, so what I’ve typically been doing is giving a quick
overview of who hit hard, etc , and who landed the finishing blow.

On part 2, now that the battles are getting a little more involved, I’m
describing tactics that may occur during combat. It’s pause and play as you
know, so you end up being able to adjust tactics on the fly. The battles in
part 1 may have been quick due to it being early in.

Noted on the new spells and moves. I’ve also been describing only the new
weapons that are good enough to get equipped by a party member, as opposed to
every single one we find.

Re: [blind-gamers] Final Fantasy 12, narrated

2020-02-26 Thread CluelessGorilla
Hi gents,

The plan was to cycle 2 or 3 games to satisfy more than 1 genre. Thus, I’ve
been doing a few part 1s to see which of them received a good reception. Did
FF12 because the poll showed a desire for a JRPG, so it was going to be either
FF12 or Dragon Quest 11.

So as of right now Baldur’s Gate is a definite due to the feedback. I already
have gotten halfway into the next video edit for Baldur’s, and for Disco both.
At the beginning of both audios, I did a recap of the previous playthrough.

It’s good feedback about the site that did 10 games. Because these videos take
a long time to edit and long work hours, I’ve figured I would not go more than
3 at a time so as to keep things continuously moving. Doing 2 games at a time
may be a better option given your feedback.

If so the case, Disco may eventually get the axe due to there being less
collective demand for it.

That said, I’m planning to keep doing this for a long time to come.

Good news is that I believe Overcast recently approved it:

Going to resubmit to Apple. It’s also on Breakers, Radio Public, Anchor. Any
benefit to using Overcast over Apple for podcasts? I’m not familiar with it.

Re: [blind-gamers] boldours gate playthrough

2020-02-10 Thread CluelessGorilla
Hi Shaun,

I appreciate the feedback. I’m big on side quests and going off the beaten
path as well, and it’s for that reason that it typically takes me longer to
finish games.

I believe the party max in these type of games is usually 6 or so, so at some
point like you said, we’ll probably be deciding on which party members to swap
out depending on who we all like.

The info you gave me on midimusicadventures was what made me add the listener
choice. I believe the future choices will be more vital ones at some point.
Still testing the waters and seeing what works and doesn’t work, depending on
audience feedback. Once we build up a decent audience, and I get more
familiar, I figure we can even try to do a live thing periodically at some
point.

Also haven’t forgotten the poll we all took, tried out a few games to see which
ones worked out well with the narration. I’ll be at least starting on one of
those games in near future. I screencapped the results so I can remember the
ones this forum voted on, before we add any more voters moving forward.

[blind-gamers] Gorilla's Playthrough: Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, narrated

Hi all!

The 2nd game playrough is live!  This topic is a continuation from our previous
topic here:
https://groups.io/g/blind-gamers/topic/narrated_video_game/69948993?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,0,69948993

Doing Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition for this playthrough.  Most of the games
we voted for each had a tally of 1, Baldur's Gate included, so I did this one
since I believe someone else mentioned D in our first topic.
I am doing this a little different going forward, adding a choice to vote on at
the end of the playthrough.  This way you can decide which direction we take in
the game.
In the meantime, I'll move onto working on a different one, while the votes are
getting tallied for the choice in Baldur's Gate.
This second game is going to very likely going to be a JRPG, give that many of
the single votes were for various different JRPGs.

Hope you enjoy!

Originally planned to have it posted today, but want to do some touch ups to

I’ll have it up within the next few days.

Hi all,

Just a heads up, podcast is up! For those who prefer this format instead.

I’ll also post the Spotify and Apple podcast once they’re up.

Currently in process of doing Disco part 2, and trying to record some of the

Have a great day.

Re: [blind-gamers] Narrated Video Game Playthrough

2020-01-21 Thread CluelessGorilla
Jessica: I have Baldur’s Gate 2 on the list of possible games, which may be up
your alley (somehow never got around to playing it when I was younger)

Devin: Whew, you’ll be sick of hearing my terrible voice by the time I go
through the whole series! Any in particular? FF6?

Justin: It is for that reason that I debated talking about the controls and
gameplay itself as well, the video-game stuff for people who used to play them.
I omitted it due to thinking it would detract from the atmosphere. Planned to
talk about that stuff at the conclusion of the videos if that works for
everyone.Mass Effect series would be great because it’s another series I
somehow missed out on. Monkey Island too, I feel like point & clicks would
lend themselves to this type of playthrough. Thanks for the feedback

Hey Shaun: The name of the channel is Gorilla’s Playthrough. What he was
doing sounds awesome. I was thinking of doing something similar once I get a
couple videos out there and learn this better, have everyone else make the
decisions with dialogue

Lori: I’d like to do whatever is in my means to make it more accessible for
anyone

Robert: Nitpicks are good it will help me make it better for everyone.
Actually my next step was putting it on a podcast. I have it set up but need
to transfer it. In regards to adding my own commentary, that will be minimal,
saved for the end. When I do I’ll say “back to the game” or something of that
nature, to your point. Thanks for the feedback on the tags, I’ll add it in.

Paul: I appreciate that very much, I’ll keep it consistent. I’ve been
choosing titles that I haven’t played before, so we can go through it together,
give it more of a fresh feeling. I started at FF7, and didn’t play any before
that. I played 8, 9, 10, and 15.

Scott: Thanks very much. That would be great. It took me a long time, due to
me learning how to use the video and audio software (I’m a construction guy so
bear with me), but also I wanted to make sure I give it my all.

Hi all,

Decided to make a video recently and I'm testing the waters.
My plan was to hit some RPGs and adventure games, and heavily describe
surroundings, characters, atmosphere, gameplay etc.
Anyone here have an interest in something like this?

Here is the first one I just finished making. (FYI mature content and language)
