Karen Iley
AMSTERDAM, April 3 (Reuters) - Campaigners are predicting that euthanasia
and assisted suicide will soon become legal in the Netherlands -- for anyone
aged 12 and upwards.

If a bill now before parliament is passed, it will make the Netherlands the
first country to legalise mercy killing.

"I think during the course of this year, and even possibly before the
summer, the second chamber (lower house) will address the issue and vote in
favour," Jacob Kohnstamm, new chairman of the Dutch Voluntary Euthanasia
Society (DVES), told foreign journalists on Monday.

The Dutch have tolerated mercy killings for years, but with the possibility
of doctors being prosecuted for murder under the penal code, the bill aims
to remove a legal grey area.

However, the clause to allow euthanasia for children without parental
consent has proved highly controversial.

The DVES argues that a 1995 bill giving girls aged 12 to 15 the same right
to an abortion as adults, without parental consent, met similar opposition
before passing.

"If you think of a child who has cancer, who has gone through medical
treatment, when they're 14 or 15 years old they tend to be more mature than
most of the people I meet in one day," said Kohnstamm, a lawyer and member
of the upper house.

"All doctors concerned say it is very rare for parents and kids not to want
the same thing."

But the Royal College of Physicians in the Netherlands says this means the
clause is unnecessary, and the Dutch organisation for parents of children
with cancer agrees.

The Netherlands are already seen as liberal in areas such as drugs,
pornography and gay rights, and some fear the bill will spur an influx of
people seeking to end their lives.

Kohnstamm rejected the idea: "This is not possible at all. There is no
relation between the patient and the doctor, the doctor cannot see the
history of the case, and maybe can't even talk the same language.
'Euthanasia tourism'? No way."

The bill sets out strict guidelines. It insists the patient must have made a
voluntary, well-considered and lasting request, and face a future of
unremitting and unbearable suffering.

The doctor must have told the patient about his situation and prospects and
reached the firm conclusion that there is no reasonable alternative. A
second physician must be consulted and the life must be ended in a medically
appropriate way.

Latest data from the DVES show 3,600 deaths in 1995 from euthanasia or
assisted suicide -- where the doctor supplies the drugs but does not
administer them. This number includes deaths not reported to the coroner --
about 59 percent of cases.

The Clinton administration hasn't had a lot of good news over the

Taiwan; they had a rough trip to India and Pakistan; an uneventful
stop in Geneva with the Syrians; the election of a president in
Russia who vows to bring them back as a military power and who
plans to include former KGB member in his administration; news that
Iraq is close to having nuclear missile capability; and the

To say the least, the momentum appears to be shifting for Clinton.

China Gathering Forces - 'Three Roads To Death' Warning

TAIWAN OFFERS OLIVE BRANCH,  BEIJING THREATENS "3 ROADS TO DEATH";
PLA PAPER DESCRIBES WAR PLANS, IRON-HULL BOATS GATHER ON CHINA
COAST

Editor: Al Santoli

March 21: China's Defense Minister Gen. Chi Haotian arrived in
coastal Fujian province to inspect army, air force and naval units
and logistical organizations, such as military hospitals, the Hong
Kong Ping Kuo Jih Pao reports. Orders have been given to military
hospitals in Xiamen and Zhangzhou, which had been open to the
public, to vacate several floors. Civil structures near military
airports and ports have been ordered to be demolished, as soon as
possible.

March 22: The nationally syndicated newspaper, Haowangjao Weekly,
supported by the People's Liberation Army, has published a special
16-page edition that describes in detail ways that Beijing may seek
to conquer Taiwan by force, including the use of neutron bombs. The
paper said plans include an amphibious assault using thousands of
Chinese fishing boats to carry troops. It dismisses American
intervention, claiming China is in "the final stage" of developing
new long-range multiple-warhead missiles. "The United States will
not sacrifice 200 million Americans for 20 million Taiwanese," the
article predicts. In a worst case scenario, the paer suggests China
could attack US allies in Asia, as well as striking at US military
bases in Japan, South Korea and Guam. Chinese troops could also be
deployed to North Korea to neutralize or strike South Korea.

"If US forces lose thousands or hundreds of men under our powerful
strikes, the anti-war sentiment in their country will force the US
government to take the same path as they did in Vietnam," the paper
states. "We could lose a large number of people to liberate
Taiwan." the paper states. "But as long as the territory of the
mainland does not get huge damage, the real losses are only
soldiers and material. It won't present a serious threat to our
national economy."

March 24: Hundreds of Chinese 100-ton iron-hulled "fishing" vessels
in military formation and carrying men looking like Public Security
officers are reported massing in the Taiwan Strait, opposite the
Taiwan-controlled island of Matsu, reports the Taiwan Central News
Agency. Taiwanese troops stationed on nearby Tungyin islet have
gone on heightened combat readiness alert. "Apparently they are
not there to catch fish," said Taiwanese magistrate Liu Li-chun.

The official Xinhua news agency quoted China's Vice Premier Quan
Qichen that Beijing will, "make no compromises" on "the one-China
principle as the only basis for talks with Taiwan's president-elect
Chen Shui-bian. Qian did not refer to Chen's good-will gestures.
Qian warned, "If someone wants to disregard the lives of and safety
of 23 million Taiwan compatriots by pursuing the so-called Taiwan
independence, they will come to no good."

Ancient Egypt, the Monuments of Mars, and Extraterrestrial Contact
Exclusive extract from a lecture by
LYNN PICKNETT and CLIVE PRINCE
at the Templar Lodge Hotel, Gullane, near Edinburgh, Scotland
6th June 1999

It was very surprising set of circumstances that led us to write our new
book, The Stargate Conspiracy. We did not set to write such a book. Rather,
we intended to pursue certain lines of research following on from our last
book, The Templar Revelation, in which we concluded that Christianity was an
off-shoot of the Egyptian mystery religion of Isis and Osiris. In that book,
we only took the story back to the Egypt of the first century. It was our
intention to extend the research further back into the history of Egypt and
the roots of its religion.

Our research led us back to the most ancient religion known from ancient
Egypt, that of Heliopolis, whose beliefs and cosmology, which are
encapsulated in the Pyramid Texts, inspired the builders of the Great
Pyramid of Giza. Inevitably, we were drawn into considering the mysteries
posed by the great monuments of the Pyramid Age. And, of course, we could
not ignore the recent flood of high-profile books dealing with, and offering
solutions to, those mysteries, which make up what has been called
'alternative Egyptology'.

Throughout the 1990s, many books, challenging the arrogance and complacency
of academic Egyptology and opening our eyes to the wonders of that ancient
culture, have reached a huge audience world-wide. In this field, two names
stand out above the rest: Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval, authors -
jointly and separately - of such books as The Orion Mystery, Fingerprints of
the Gods, Keeper of Genesis and, most recently, The Mars Mystery.

It was looking at these new theories and ideas that led our research in a
very unexpected direction, and which led ultimately to The Stargate
Conspiracy.

We need to make a very important point at the outset. Much of what we are
about to say is critical of some of these new ideas, and you may even begin
to suspect that we are, in some way, sceptics. This is not so. We believe
that there are genuine mysteries about ancient Egypt - such as how (and why)
they built the pyramids, where their civilisation came from, and how they
knew many of the things that they knew. We are not admirers of the obstinate
arrogance of academic Egyptology, and have enormous reverence for ancient
Egypt, its culture and religion, and the achievements of its people. It is
precisely because we have such reverence that we feel so strongly about the
way that the very real mysteries of Egypt have, effectively, been hijacked
in order to serve other agendas.

Where there is a mystery there is the potential for exploitation, by
offering apparent solutions that support particular systems of belief. This
potential is even stronger when the mystery involves something as evocative
as ancient Egypt, whose works, such as the pyramids and Sphinx, speak so
powerfully to our imaginations.

The Alternative Egyptology tries to explain the enigma of the advanced
technical knowledge of the ancient Egyptians - as displayed most obviously
in the building of the Great Pyramid - by one of two theories (or sometimes
a combination of the two). The first is that the ancient Egyptians were
merely an off-shoot, or heirs, of a much older, advanced civilisation - such
as Atlantis - which has been erased from history by some global catastrophe.
The second is that the great monuments of the ancient world were either
built by, or the skills to build them taught by, visitors from another
world.

One of the most influential of books in this field is The Sirius Mystery by
Robert Temple, which was first published in 1976 and in an extensively
updated edition in 1998. As many of you will know, it homes in on the
extraordinary knowledge of a West African tribe, the Dogon of Mali. The
Dogon religion centres on the star Sirius. There is nothing unusual about
that because, as Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, many cultures have
incorporated it into their beliefs and mythology. However, what intrigued
Temple - and many others - was that French anthropologists who studied the
Dogon religion reported that they also believed that Sirius has a
companion - a very small and very heavy star that is invisible to the naked
eye.

We now know that this is true. Sirius is a binary star system, with a
second, white dwarf star - very small, very heavy - in orbit around the main
star. Sirius B, as it is called, was only discovered in 1842, and it was not
photographed until the 1970s. How, then, could the Dogon have known about
it?

Temple's theory is that the knowledge of Sirius B originated from actual
contact with extraterrestrials from a planet in the Sirius system. He argues
that this contact took place, not in West Africa, but

GATEWAY TO THE GODS
A New Approach to the Mysteries of Ancient Egypt
http://www.templarlodge.com/stargate.html#Ancient Egypt, Mars ET's

Exclusive extract from a lecture by
LYNN PICKNETT and CLIVE PRINCE
at the Templar Lodge Hotel, Gullane, near Edinburgh, Scotland,
7th June 1999

Our research for The Stargate Conspiracy - although mainly leading to the
uncovering of the conspiracy of the title - also opened up other, more
positive and exciting, avenues that offer a solution to some of the enduring
mysteries of ancient Egypt.

Previously, we discussed the two most popular theories put forward to
explain the puzzle of the ancient Egyptians' inexplicably advanced
techniques - that the ancient Egyptians either learned their skills from a
lost civilisation, or from visiting extraterrestrials. We would now like to
offer an alternative theory, which, although not evoking Atlanteans or
space-gods still has a resolutely otherwordly quality.

The technical achievements of the ancient Egyptians, as displayed most
obviously in the building of monuments such as the Great Pyramid and the
Sphinx of Giza, and the questions that they pose for conventional
historians, are too well known to need repeating here. But it was not only
in this area that the Egyptians were so sophisticated. Even in the
superficial field of cosmetics, recent discoveries have shown that their
practical application of chemistry was far from primitive. In fact, they did
what Givenchy and Christian Dior have only just begun to do, incorporating
active sun-block into foundation creams. However, what most intrigued was
the extraordinary cosmological knowledge that can be found within their
religious texts.

The earliest religion known in ancient Egypt was that of Heliopolis. Now
buried under a suburb of Cairo, and marked by a single obelisk, Heliopolis
was the greatest religious centre of ancient Egypt, and home to not only
what we would call religion, bur also every other kind of knowledge, from
philosophy and medicine to cosmology. The High Priest of Heliopolis also
held the title that translates as 'Chief Astronomer'. Imhotep, the genius
who designed and built the first pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser at
Saqqara, was a priest of Heliopolis.

We don't know when Heliopolis was established, but we do know that when
records began in Egypt it was already the supreme religious centre. The
religion of Heliopolis was the religion of the pyramid builders. In fact,
the three Giza pyramids align with Heliopolis, which is 12 miles (20km)
away. This is one alignment that is even accepted by Egyptologists.

The religion of Heliopolis is encapsulated in the famous Pyramid Texts,
which are hieroglyphic inscriptions covering the walls of some fourth
dynasty pyramids. Although the earliest inscripions date from some 200 years
after the building of the Great Pyramid, there is no doubt that the texts
are much older. From studying them, we can discover not only what the
Heliopolitan priesthood believed in a religious sense, but also the extent
of their knowledge in other areas.

The central theme of the Pyramid Texts is the afterlife - or rather the
presumed afterlife - journey of the King, in which he is identified with the
god Osiris and ascends to the heavens where he is transformed into a star.
In this otherwordly realm he has many adventures in which he encounters
various gods and other entities, and has to persuade them to accept him into
their ranks. When this happens he is reincarnated as his own successor, in
the form of Osiris's son Horus.

The most fundamental revelation of the Pyramid Texts is that the
Heliopolitan religion was essentially monotheistic. (Will admirers of
Akhenaten please take note!) Although there were many god-forms, they were
all understood to represent the many aspects of the One God, Atum. In fact,
all living things were considered as part of Atum, including mankind.

In the Heliopolitan creation story, in the beginning the Universe was a
formless, watery void, called Nun. Out of this emerged a phallic-shaped
hill, the primeval mound, the centre of all creation. On this hill, Atum
masturbated himself to an explosive orgasm that both gave birth to the
Universe and seeded it with life. From this act, the Universe expanded
outward, becoming ever more complex and unfolding through many levels of
creation until the material world that we inhabit came into being.

Atum was hermaphroditic, encompassing both male and female principles. But
immediately after his creative act, two beings, the god Shu and the goddess
Tefnut, emerge. Another name for Tefnut is Ma'at, goddess of eternal justice
and balance. Shu is the male principle, the active force, and Tefnut the
female principle that limits, controls and directs the male. The principle
of duality - similar to the Taoist yin-yang - is fundamental to the
Heliopolitan system.

From the union of Shu and Tefnut are born Geb, the

But first, it is worth considering how we tend to think people learn new
skills. We normally think that there are only two ways - whether we're
talking about an individual or a civilisation. Either we work it our for
ourselves by experimentation or trial and error, or somebody else (who has
already worked it out) teaches us.

This is, in a nutshell, the problem of the anomalous sophistication of
ancient Egypt (and many other ancient civilisations). There is no
archeaological evidence of a process of gradual development of these skills.
So logically we have to invoke the second method, and assume that they were
taught these things, either by a lost civilisation or by ancient astronauts.

But what if there is a third way to acquire knowledge? On an individual
level, we know that there is: inspiration. But can this work for an entire
culture, and if so what would be the mechanism behind it? Is there any
evidence for such a thing?

There is. And it is something that is happening today.

During our research we came across the ground-breaking work of a Swiss
anthroplogist named Jeremy Narby, who in 1995 wrote a book called, in
English, The Cosmic Serpent, DNA and the Origins of Knowledge.

About fifteen years ago, Narby was studying the indigenous people of the
Peruvian Amazon, and became fascinated by their astounding botanical
knwowledge, specifically their use of plants for medical and other purposes.
What intrigued him most was how these supposedly primitive people had
acquired this knowledge.

Since they have no science in the sense that we understand it, they must
have learned how to make their medicines by trial and error. But there are
some 80,000 species of plants growing in the Amazon rain forest, so to
discover an effective remedy using just two of them would theoretically
require the testing of every possible combination - just under four billion.
But many of their medicines involve not just two plants, but several. If
they had found their recipes by experimentation, it would have taken
millions of years to find just a few, and yet they have a vast range of
medicines and other useful substances. Added to this, preparation of many of
them involve long and complex processes with many stages.

The classic example is curare. This is a powerful poison whose ingredients
come from several different plants, and which, Narby points out, fits a very
precise set of requirements. The hunters needed something that, when smeared
on the tips of blow-pipe darts, would not only kill an animal but also
ensure that it does not tighten its death-grip on a branch and die out of
reach (as often happens with animals killed by arrows). And the meat would
have to be safe to eat. It seems like a very tall order - but curare fits
all these requirements perfectly. It is a muscle relaxant, which kills by
arresting the respiratory muscles. It is only effective when injected
directly into the bloodstream, hence its delivery by blowpipe, and has no
effect when taken by mouth.

The most common type of curare requires a complicated method of preparation
in which the extracts of several plants are boiled together for three days,
during which lethal fumes are given off. And the final result needs a
specific piece of technology - the blow-pipe - to deliver it. How was all
this discovered?

The problem becomes even more baffling, because no fewer than forty
different types of curare are used in the Amazon rain forest. All do the
same job but use slightly different ingredients, because the same plants do
not grow in every region. Therefore, in effect, curare was invented forty
times.

After puzzling about such questions for a long time, Narby realised that the
best way to find an answer was to ask the Amazonians themselves. So how do
they claim to have discovered curare - and all the other plants-derived
substances that they use? In fact, they take no credit for them. They claim
that all were given to them by the spirits through their shamans.

Shamans have existed throughout the world, especially in tribal societies.
They are what used to be called witch doctors, especially talented and
highly trained trance psychics, who use their gifts to heal, locate the best
hunting and find water in times of drought. In short, they help to solve the
problems of the tribe, and help it survive.

The shaman does this by going into trance, which can be induced in a variety
of ways, from whirling, drumming and dancing, to taking psychoactive drugs
derived from plants or mushrooms. Those studied by Narby in Peru achieve
their trance by ingesting a plant mixture called ayahuasca, which mimics a
substance found naturally in the human brain and which, in large doses, is a
powerful hallucinogen.

When in trance, the shaman's spirit goes on a journey

dosen't say by what means he had a trip across the universe. However he does
say he went bodily, but which body? He said he was praying and a great being
appeared and he sped upwards into the heavens. Considering he has invented a
free energy device, one would think he'd describe the propulsion of the
vehicle he travelled in. But this dosen't bear a mention. His DNA analysis
of the 'chosen ones' is rather lengthy. He is very explicit in some parts of
the book esp if it concerns science, but when it comes to describing the
culling of the the lower races, he makes Nostrodamus sounds clear.

I have scanned 11 chapters of Intro to the Keys of Enoch. He dosen't have
about the mass genocide in the intro book. The Day of Declaration talks of
when the Reappearance of the [ET] Masters of Wisdom is supposedly coming,
when somehow the earth gets zapped into the 4th dimension and all those who
don't become a body of Light will be 'recycled'. In other words get killed,
be terminated. He says to look at the positive side of death. He mentions
this several times throughout the book.

The ETs he says will be picking up those, with what sounds like implants
.[he calls them vibratory Light crystals of the Christ blood encoded upon
the doorposts of the body temple of Gematria. The sign of YHWH's name will be
upon their 3rd eye and they will be taken from the fields after a scanner
will probe the face of the earth and locate the chosen ones and they will go
to the vehicles] The implants are up the nose in some cases and I have seen
a post saying the implanted are to be taken away for repopulation of other
planets. Dr Bruce Maccabbee said Ashtar told him this personally [by someone
channeling him to answer questions Maccabbee was asking Ashtar].

It does say in the Bible that 2 will be in the field and one will be taken.
Though what that means is debatable. Hurtak could be be applying this to the
CIA military abductees, who have been genetically catalogued. As the Mormons
have been mentioned positively by Hurtak as having the angel Moroni as the
correct teacher, maybe they use the ancestry records for the abductions. The
Mormons are apparently routinely recruited as CIA agents. Hurtak says the
Mormons are the Living Tribe of Joseph.

I have some articles which show the research done by Hurtak's former boss
Andrija Puharich, who did research for the CIA into mind control, and what
wavelengths affect the human consciousness. One ET channelled by a 'top
world renowned scientist' in the early 70's found out that the ionosphere
reflects the human brain waves. The name wasn't given, but I will post the
Et dialogue. However Puharich was contacting Ets at that time for scientific
info about consciousness. ??

HAARP is destroying the ionosphere and magnetosphere and I have a post about
this which states that this is what was created at Montauk to be employed
for mind control. They are busily destroying 'our reality' and changing it
to another one. I have about 5/6posts which link the whole scheme together
with the changing of our DNA by HAARP/The Second Coming and the destruction
of this 3D reality that we now exist in to be replaced by one which Hurtak's
Ets have created for us. One in which the Ets he has with him from Sirius,
are claiming to be the Biblical figures, that 'they created us' and they
have the right to destroy us as they wish. Hurtak's writings about DNA
needing to be changed by ultra violet are very similar to Puharichs writings
about his DNA

Chinese Log On to Honor the Dead

Virtual immortality.

THOUSANDS of Chinese urban professionals are building digital "memorial
halls" for their ancestors on the internet, joining a nationwide surge in
enthusiasm for paying respects to the graves of family members.

After decades of enforced atheism, traditional rites and beliefs have soared
in popularity, as Chinese shaken by the collapse of the old Communist
certainties seek a new spiritual direction. Despite government warnings
against "superstition" and calls for cremation rather than wasting precious
land on graves, many of the new rich are lavishing their money on the dead.

Thousands of internet users are logging on to a web site devoted to ancestor
worship, founded by Beijing computer graduates with Singapore Chinese
investment, in time for the annual festival of Qing Ming, Tomb Sweeping Day,
tomorrow. The web site has provoked approving newspaper headlines, and claims
to have had 300,000 visits in the first few days of operation.

Tomorrow will see pious families cleaning graves, making offerings of cake,
fruit and incense, and burning paper funeral money to give the deceased
something to spend in the afterlife. Provincial Communist cadres have been
caught erecting vast mausoleums to their own memories. Beijing issued a stern
warning that all memorials built with public funds had to receive government
approval.

But a growing number of well-educated Chinese have found work far from their
home towns, and cannot return for Qing Ming. The new Chinese-language
internet site offers urbanites the chance to construct their own "memorial
halls" for family members, choosing from a variety of architectural and
religious styles.

Photographs can be posted in the hall, as well as poems, prayers, obituaries
and brief snatches of music. Visitors may light candles, and lay virtual
flowers. Halls are free for the moment, though the company aims to charge
wealthy patrons for the construction of elaborate memorials. More than 1,000
"halls" have been built.

Chiang Kai-Shek Rolling in His Grave

by Andrew Perrin

Taipei, Taiwan—If their world has been turned upside down, as many Taiwanese
have been inclined to comment when reflecting on the historic events of the
past two weeks, then Chiang Kai-shek, the man they once called Generalissimo,
and who is buried just 30km north of Taipei city, must be rolling in his
grave.

His beloved Nationalist party that he resurrected in 1926 from the ashes of
Sun Yat-sen’s Three Principles of the People; that he transplanted to Taiwan
in 1949 after a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Communists on the
mainland; and then reinvented, through purge, ploy, patronage and
realpolitik, so that it could survive long after his death in 1975, is on the
verge of irrelevance, possibly even extinction, if the doomsayers in Taipei
are to be believed.

And there are many of them.

The World's Richest Political Party in Ruins

Just over a week after the party had suffered its first defeat in the
island’s young democratic history, it is no secret that the Nationalists, the
world’s richest political party, now stand at the cross roads. Last week saw
the unprecedented sight of thousands of disgruntled party members assembled
outside party headquarters in downtown Taipei being met head on by a wall of
stone-faced riot police: hitherto in Taiwan, a sight reserved for
pro-democracy supporters burning the Nationalist flag.

On Friday, March 24, the Nationalists protestors got what they were after:
the head of the party chairman, and incumbent president Lee Teng-hui, who
they blamed for the party’s stunning loss in the election. In Taiwan, where
politics is never dull, and rarely predictable, Lee stood accused of
sabotaging his own party’s candidate, Lien Chan, while lending tacit support
to the opposition’s Chen Shui-bian (who won) during the campaign. It was a
charge not without foundation.

It is well known in Taiwan that Lee has met regularly in private with Chen, a
fellow benshengren, or native Taiwanese, to lend advice and discuss ideas on
Taiwan’s future development.
And during the final weeks of campaigning a number of influential public
figures close to Lee aligned themselves with Chen. The most notable of these,
Nobel-prize winning chemist Lee Yuan-tseh, a man with a flawless public
reputation for integrity and honesty, and a close friend of Lee’s, is
believed to have swung near 2 percent of voters into Chen’s camp – the
winning margin.

That Lee should take some responsibility for the loss was disputed by few.
But after 12 years in the chairman’s post, his departure leaves the party
wide open to a split along ethnic and factional lines.

“The party is in crisis,” said Bau Tzong-ho, political science professor at
the National Taiwan University, and policy advisor to Lien Chan, the vice
president and acting chairman of the party since Lee’s departure. “We are
entering a crucial few months that will determine our future prospects.”
Prior to Chen’s March 18 victory, the possibility that the Nationalists could
now find itself in such a precarious position was unthinkable.

Having ruled Taiwan for 54 years, much of that under martial law, the party
has overseen the island’s transformation to a democracy and engineered its
stunning rise from an agrarian-based society to a hi-tech driven dynamo
economy that has become a model for the region. And the party still held a
powerful majority in the legislature, boasted a membership of more than 2
million, and had assets tied up in the state and private sectors reportedly
worth US$20 billion.

But the Nationalists have now fallen prey to the very system that had allowed
them to maintain a stranglehold on power for so long. “They ruled through a
Leninist system that relied upon party membership to secure advancement
either in politics or business,” said Antonio Chiang, publisher of Taiwan’s Th
e Journalist, and one-time opposition journalist to Nationalist rule under
martial law. “It was a system they believed unbeatable. There were elements
within the party who wanted to reform, who wanted to rid the party of its
links with gangsters and its close associations with big business, but that
reform was too slow in coming for a rapidly-changing Taiwanese society that
was learning to embrace democracy, and the notions of fairness for all that
went it.”

The challenge facing party leaders post-Lee is how to implement reform
without splitting the party in two and reducing it to a minor opposition
party.

Lien Chan, the Insider

In Lien Chan, they have a man who straddles the ethnic divide, but little
else.
Born on the mainland into an elite Taiwanese family, he was handpicked from
an early age to one-day lead the party. His rise in the party ranks has been

Rebellion In The Jury

Clinton's Oil Crisis

Judges Could Be Held Accountable

Rebellion In The Jury

Some say jury nullification is the most practical way to stop the juggernaut
police state.

By Tom Stahl

The Washington Post published a front page story entitled, “In Jury Rooms, a
Form of Civil Protest Grows,” last year. According to the Post article,
jurors are not always following judges’ instructions to the letter.

The article recounted that sometimes in jury trials, when those facts which
the judge chooses to allow into evidence indicate that the defendant broke
the law, jurors look at the facts quite differently from the way the judge
instructed them to. The jurors do not say, “On the basis of these facts the
defendant is guilty.”

Instead, the jurors say, “On the basis of these facts the law is wrong,” and
they vote to acquit.

Or, they may vote to acquit because they believe that the law is being
unjustly applied, or because some government conduct in the case has been so
egregious that they cannot reward it with a conviction.

In short, a passion for justice invades the jury room. The jurors begin
judging the law and the government, as well as the facts, and they render
their verdict according to conscience. This is called jury nullification.

Dr. Jack Kevorkian, recently convicted, was acquitted several times in the
past, despite his admission of the government’s facts, of assisting the
suicide of terminally ill patients who wanted to die. Those acquittals were
probably due to jury nullification. And Kevorkian might have been acquitted
again if the trial judge had allowed him to present his evidence, testimony
of the deceased’s relatives, to the jury. A corollary of jury nullification
is greater latitude for the jury to hear all of the evidence.

The Post took a dim view of this and suggested that jury nullification is an
aberration, a kind of unintended and un wanted side-effect of our
constitutional system of letting juries decide cases. But the Post couldn’t
be more wrong. Far from being an unintended side-effect, jury nullification
is explicitly authorized in the constitutions of 24 states.

All Criminal cases

The constitutions of Maryland, In diana, Oregon and Georgia currently have
provisions guaranteeing the right of jurors to “judge” or “determine” the
law in “all criminal cases.”

Article 23 of Maryland’s Constitution states:

In the trial of all criminal cases, the Jury shall be the Judges of Law, as
well as of fact, except that the Court may pass upon the sufficiency of the
evidence to sustain a conviction. The right of trial by Jury of all issues
of fact in civil proceedings in the several Courts of Law in this State,
where the amount in controversy exceeds the sum of five thousand dollars,
shall be inviolably preserved.

Art. 1, Sec. 19, of Indiana’s Constitu tion says:

In all criminal cases whatever, the jury shall have the right to determine
the law and the facts.

Oregon’s Constitution, Art. 1, Sec. 16, states:

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines im posed. Cruel
and unusual punishments shall not be inflicted, but all penalties shall be
proportioned to the offense. In all criminal cases whatever, the jury shall
have the right to determine the law, and the facts under the direction of
the Court as to the law, and the right of new trial, as in civil cases.

Art. 1, Sec. 1 of Georgia’s Constitution says:

The right to trial by jury shall remain inviolate, except that the court
shall render judgment without the verdict of a jury in all civil cases where
no issuable defense is filed and where a jury is not demanded in writing by
either party. In criminal cases, the defendant shall have a public and
speedy trial by an impartial jury; and the jury shall be judges of the law
and the facts.

These constitutional jury nullification provisions endure despite decades of
hostile judicial interpretation.

LIBEL CASES

Twenty other states currently include jury nullification provisions in their
constitutions under their sections on freedom of speech, specifically with
respect to libel cases.

These provisions, listed below, typically state:

. . . . in all indictments for libel, the jury shall have the right to
determine the law and the facts under the direction of the court.

But New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Utah and Wisconsin omit the phrase
“under the

"PALESTINIAN INTELLECTUALS"
Reality rather than Rhetoric

MID-EAST REALITIES - WASHINGTON - 3 April 2000:
When we commented that the "Palestinian Intellectuals" in their recent Ha'aretz
newspaper advertisement were doing much too little, much too late, in the wrong
way and in the wrong place, we promised we'd have more to say to try to put all
this in perspective. Meanwhile, prompted by our initial commentary last month,
the following article calling it like it really is came to us.

Now don't misunderstand. We'd love to see Palestinian intellectuals step forward
in a serious, sustained, and ongoing way to challenge this miserable and duplicitous
"Peace Process". But as with so many other things that go on in the Arab world
far too often fiction is substituted for reality, nice image is supposed to compensate
for actual impotence, astute criticism is branded as traitorous, and meaningless
gestures and organizations are used to co-opt attention and divert energies.

Whatever, if and when something serious and sustained and courageous does happen,
it won't be a one-time thing that lacks any strategy and follow-up; nor will
it just be published in a Hebrew newspaper; nor will it omit condemnation of
the Arafat and the other client-regimes that are in fact primarily responsible
for the terrible state of affairs; not will it contain the names of such hypocritical
and cravenly self-serving types like Hisham Sharabi, George Abed, Hanan Ashrawi,
and Samih Farsoun for everything they now touch is badly tainted after so many
years of wasting so much money, squandering so much time, and incestuously rewarding
each other for their failures.

We're well aware that speaking up forthrightly, that naming names, that calling
it like it really is, causes confusion, doubt and suspicion for some. And we're
well aware that telling the things various groups and interests don't want told
and work so hard to keep quiet creates furious attempts to defame the messenger
and change the subject.

But if we're serious about the issues and determined enough to want to really
do something about them then truthful information and hard-headed serious-minded
analysis are prerequisites. Hence MER...hence this articlehence the many
hundreds of articles now available and searchable by keyword and name at the

THE MOUNTAIN GAVE BIRTH TO A MOUSE

by Rageb Damian

In Arabic there is a saying: The Mountain gave birth to a mouse, which refers
to a great effort that takes time and eventually produces little or no results.
The metaphor came to me the other day as I read about the petition signed by
dozens of Palestinian “Intellectuals” and published in the Israeli daily “Haaretz”
calling the Oslo Peace process unfair to the Palestinian side. It
emphasized the fact that Oslo has failed to produce any results for the Palestinians
and warned of dire consequences if Palestinian demands for statehood were not
met.

What the Petition failed to mention is that the Palestinian Leadership (Arafat
and Company), unscathed by the silence and timidity of these “Intellectuals”
and supported of course by the Triad of the US, Israel, and the Arab regimes,
is the reason why we have the Oslo process in the first place. And that Oslo
would have never happened had the Palestinian leadership not capitulated to becoming
Israel’s policeman in the West Bank and Gaza. The Palestinian Authority simply
assumed Israel’s Occupation goals of keeping the Palestinians oppressed while
the Colonization of the West Bank continues. Worse still, the multitude of the
police forces independently administered by Arafat, in addition of course to
his cronies and “ministers”, have been responsible for terrible human rights
abuses, embezzlement of funds, crack down on freedom of speech, etc.

Enter our “Intellectuals”. Most of those people can be considered detached from
their people and living in a world of their own. They are well educated, many
graduates and/or professors of/at Western universities. Although they would
emphasize their “independence”, a great majority of them have direct

PJB Addresses Vote Fraud Issue on C-Span

In response to a question on C-Span between 7 AM and 8 AM on the morning
of March 28, 2000, the following ex-change took place:

(This is a word for word transcript of every word in the exchange
regarding votefraud, followed by a brief commentary. The caller, a lady
from Arizona, began with comments about a book, and referred to another
issue in the middle of her votefraud comments, which are indicated by
the “. . .” in the paragraph below. Pat Buchanan addressed her votefraud
comments first, and then moved on to the other two issues, but the
comments below are cut off at the end of his votefraud comments.)

Caller: . . . and, ah, I really noticed how ABC ran the results of the
election the day before the election. I also heard the proof that votes
were stolen from you in Dubuque, Iowa and several other places and we
were convinced they were stolen from you here in Arizona. The Governor
declared you winner at 4 o’clock. The reason that the media is against
you is because you are for Americans and America . . . I am very upset,
because, the Voter News Service, I am afraid that they will steal your
votes and . . .

Announcer: Thanks, caller. Pat Buchanan . . .

Patrick J. Buchanan: Alright, thanks. There’s a number of issues there.
There, there is, I don’t know whether there was hanky panky in the
election of ’96, but we do have newspapers that showed us in the Dubuque
paper getting one set of votes in the Iowa Caucuses, but by the time
they got to the Des Moines Register the numbers were different and all
of our numbers were reduced. Secondly, there were a number of precincts,
where, someone has told me, that haven’t yet reported from Dubuque where
we did very well and that was a very tight race with Bob Dole. I have
heard the reports about Arizona, (quick pause) I just (quick pause), and
about how well we were doing, and machines moving in and out, there have
been books written on it. I honestly do not know the truth . (quick
pause) With regard to . . .

(End of quote of the votefraud related comments from the transcript of
the March 28, 2000 appearance of Pat Buchanan on C-Span.)

Network America comments:

Item: The lady questioner refers to “how ABC ran the results of the
election the day before the election . . .” – perfectly true, and ABC
even referred to the “results” they had released the night before the
mid-term election of November 1998, as Devvy Kidd has pointed out in her
new version of “Blind Loyalty.” New and old readers can go into
topica.com and look at our February 24, 2000 e-wire for a full report on
this ABC glitch. (Again, I hope any day we will have all our former
reports up on www.networkamerica.org)

GOP Presidential Contests in Dubuque, Iowa and Arizona can be found in
the 4 page newspaper published by Citizens for a Fair Vote Count in

for $60). I was on the scene in Dubuque, Iowa – and together with Doug

discovered the discrepancy between the results they had witnessed the
night before and what appeared in the daily papers the next morning as
they were about to board a plane to go back to California), Tim Wozniak,
a student at Loras College near Dubuque (who discovered that the GOP
county chairman was calling his results into Voter News Service in New
York City at the direction of the Iowa GOP), and Sam Lois Pusateri and

Sunday, April 2, 2000; Page X15 THE CULTURAL COLD WAR

The CIA and the World of Arts and Letters
By Frances Stonor Saunders
New Press. 509 pp. $29.95

This is a particularly difficult book to review. Frances Stonor Saunders has
latched onto a good topic -- the CIA's covert funding of cultural magazines and
conferences, mainly during the 1950s -- and she has spoken with many of the
survivors and relicts of that era. To some degree, she has tried to understand
the mentality of the times, and to sympathize with the various agents and
intellectuals involved in this murky business. But she makes clear, through her
tone and attendant commentary, that she views with loathing the intelligence
community's attempt to wage a cultural offensive against the Soviet Union. As a
result, one reads her book with interest and shock, but also with nagging
reservations. Saunders is hardly an unbiased historian, nor is she ethically
neutral -- were such an attitude even possible. Instead she often writes with
savage indignation.

Which, of course, is how Jonathan Swift described the inspiration for his own
polemical compositions. So perhaps one should regard The Cultural Cold War as a
kind of historical diatribe, a lacerating disquisition on the imperious
attitudes among the ruling classes of post-World War II America. For once again
we revisit the Old Boy Network that deftly transports the bright scions of old
WASP families from Groton to Yale to Harvard Law, thence to some great Wall
Street firm or merchant bank, followed by an undersecretaryship in Washington,
a position at the CIA or a place on the National Security Council. Mature in
years, our lad ends up on the boards of various art museums, philanthropic
foundations and major corporations, sometimes enthroned as a Wise Man or dean
of diplomacy, sleekly suited, with neatly brushed gray hair, consulted, quoted
and revered. Alas, like Louis, in "Casablanca," when he discovers gambling
going on at Rick's Cafe americain, Saunders is shocked, positively shocked to
learn of this intertwining of business, government, the arts and intelligence.
So am I, Ms. Saunders, so am I. But welcome to the world as it really is. In
America we insist on the career open to talents and merit -- it's our national
myth -- but obviously an ambitious young man or woman will be substantially
better off with a moneyed and well-connected family to smooth the way. Simply
consider the example of George W. Bush. Or even that of John Kennedy, who most
of his life seems to have simply hired those he was led to believe were the
best and the brightest (or -- sometimes -- the prettiest). As it happens, in
the postwar era this often self-satisfied, preppy oligarchy grew obsessed with
the communist menace and thus expended considerable energy, cash and manpower
in a shadowy combat, striving to demonize Russia and promulgate classic
American ideals, no matter the moral cost. These men and women may have been
protecting, consciously or unconsciously, their own privileges; but, like it or
not, they were also ardent patriots, upholders of America as a safeguard of
democracy and truth. Were they wrong in what they did? After all, when does a
man of drive and patriotism and self-sacrifice wake up to discover that he has
become a fanatic, a true believer? Surely one would have to be a god to know
whether an Allen Dulles or George Kennan may have saved us from nuclear
Armageddon or made its possibility an unending international nightmare. It is
always easy, in retrospect, to point to Talleyrand's famous motto: "Surtout,
pas de zele" -- Above all, no zeal. But in a really serious fight one would
rather have Rambo than Montaigne by one's side.

At the heart of this study lies the once-famous Congress for Cultural Freedom,
the sponsor for such magazines as Encounter (Britain), Tempo Presente (Italy),
Quest (India), Preuves (France), Der Monat (Germany) and many others. These
"assets" were generally edited by pro-America intellectuals but were ostensibly
journals of independent opinion. In fact, Irving Kristol, Stephen Spender,
Melvin Lasky and Frank Kermode -- all editors of Encounter at one time or
another -- denied knowing that the Congress was actually a CIA front or that
its boss, Michael Josselson, was an agency operative. Saunders takes pains to
insist that certainly by the later 1950s and '60s everyone on the intellectual
cocktail circuit in London and Washington knew about the CIA connection. How
"witting," to use the agency catchphrase, were these cultural jetsetters
really? In short, what did they know? And when did they know it? Given that the
people involved were mainly intellectuals or academics, one can grant them an
ingrained naivete and presume that most of them probably never thought hard
about who was paying for the spiffy parties, the first-class air fares, the
caviar and

Subject: Internet Privacy Hearing -- Live Audio

U.S. Representative Bob Barr (GA-7) announced today that the Constitution
Subcommittee, on which he serves, will hold hearings this Thursday on "The
Fourth Amendment and the Internet." Barr requested the hearing late last
year following a debate about whether to build law enforcement wiretapping
 access into the Internet.

There will be a live audio webcast of the hearing beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Eastern on Thursday, April 6, 2000 at:

 http://www.house.gov/judiciary/schedule.htm

"The Internet offers new ways to engage in communication and commerce, but
it also gives third parties unprecedented abilities to compile and search
data on every person who uses it. It is important we clarify the manner
in which time-tested Fourth Amendment protections apply in the electronic
world. Unless we get a handle on this, and provide some guidance for, and
limitations on, government monitoring of the Internet, personal privacy
will be an early casualty of this new century," said Barr.

This newsletter is issued periodically and exclusively to subscribers who
request it by the office of U.S. Representative Bob Barr (GA-7). To

I may have posted this already, but I have some Kabballah posts and would
like you to see who is doing what with the Kabballah, regarding the return
of the 'Messiah'? arranged by Dr James Hurtak's Et masters to come about in
Jerusalem..It appears that an Israeli Kabbalist seems to be following a
similar philosophy to Hurtak with the regathering of the 12 tribes in Israel
 in anticipation of this event.

The Temple being rebuilt for this. We know that Yair Davidi in Israel has
located the 12 tribes now from all over. Hurtak writes in the Keys of Enoch,
referring to the Kabballa constantly as his guide, that the 12 tribes will
be taken through time portals to other constellations to create another
genesis. Hurtak hints he is Jacob. So maybe he thinks he is regathering his
'descendents' and has some divine right to do so. yea right...We must bear
in mind that Dr Puharich [who was Hurtak's boss at Ossining] wrote a book
about Sacred Mushrooms and is an expert on hallucinogenic plants.Hurtak
dosen't say by what means he had a trip across the universe.

One in which the Ets he has with him from Sirius,
 are claiming to

Krajisnik's father sits by his home as a policeman stands guard

Members of Momcilo Krajisnik's family have given a dramatic
description of the dawn raid in which the senior Bosnian Serb
official was arrested by Nato troops.

They gave this account of the incident to Bosnian Serb television.
--

One son told the television station: "There was an explosion
around 0330 (0130 GMT). I woke up and saw members of S-For in my room.

[Quote:
An S-For soldier pointed to his rifle and shouted:
'Sit down or I'll kill you',Momcilo Krajisnik's father ]

"They demanded to see if I had any weapons. They searched me
and my brother. They spoke English and asked for our names.
Then they asked us to put our hands forward, and they tied
me and my brother up ...", he said.

"While one of the S-For members tied us up, others were
searching the house. They searched everywhere, they took
everything out. They took our two computers," the son added.

Father's account

Mr Krajisnik's father Stretko, 81, said there had been no
need for S-For troops to blow open the front door.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/70/images/_75_father150.jpg
Sretko Krajisnik opens the destroyed door of his home

"If they had rung the bell, I would have opened the door to
them. But they threw the bomb, you can see what happened.

"I started to go, and the S-For soldier grabbed me and said:
'Back off.' There is no need to grab me like that, I said.

"Then they put me in the kitchen and told me and grandmother
to sit down. Unfortunately, I cannot sit down... A soldier
pointed to his rifle and shouted: 'Sit down or I'll kill you.'
Then I sat down.

"This is what happened. God help us. All this lasted five or
10 minutes. There were a dozen of them, running up and down.
The house was full," Mr Krajisnik's father said.

'Brutal' arrest
---

Bosnian Serb politicians also condemned the arrest.

Svetozar Mihajlovic, a former co-chairman of the Bosnian Council
of Ministers and vice-president of the Serb National Alliance,
described the raid as "brutal".

Mihajlovic said the arrest "confirmed The Hague tribunal's
policy of double standards towards war crimes suspects in
Bosnia-Herzegovina".

"Obviously, in its work, The Hague tribunal accepts the views
of certain Bosnian Muslim wartime leaders who see all Serbs as
suspects; this is unacceptable," he said.

British Internet libel case threatens free speech internationally
By Mike Ingram
4 April 2000
Back to screen version

In an out-of-court libel settlement, Demon Internet, one of Britain's oldest
independent Internet service providers, has effectively accepted responsibility
for all material hosted on their servers. The case has major implications for
free speech on the Internet in Britain and beyond.

The libel case was brought by physicist Laurence Godfrey, who claimed he had
been defamed in two anonymous postings in discussion forums hosted by Demon.
The libel case began in January 1998, when Godfrey served a writ on Demon
demanding the removal of a message posted in the newsgroup soc.culture.thai a
year earlier.

Four days before the case was due to come to court, Demon agreed to pay Godfrey
£15,000 damages and his legal costs, estimated at £230,000. Demon will face
similar costs itself, bringing the total to nearly half a million pounds.

In earlier hearings Demon argued that they were not the publishers of the
material, and were not responsible for the posting in the same way a newspaper
would be responsible for an article. The court ruled out this defence in March
last year. Justice Moreland said the company had no protection under section 1
of the 1996 Defamation Act, which enables a provider to avoid liability if it
can prove “innocent dissemination”. The judge ruled that because Demon had
refused to remove the postings, it was, in effect, the publisher.

After initially stating that they would fight the ruling, Demon's owners Thus
plc. opted to settle out of court. In front of Justice Eady, the company
apologised for failing to remove the postings at the time Godfrey had
protested.

Godfrey has also sued several other Internet service providers and online
publications. His previous cases include settlements against New Zealand
TeleCom, the Melbourne PC users group, and the online edition of Canada's
Toronto Star. In October 1998 he filed suit against the University of
Minnesota, Minneapolis ISP StarNet, and Kritchai Quanchairut, a former
University of Minnesota student.

Demon argued that since they did not create the postings, the items were not
theirs to remove. As they were not the originators of the content, they could
neither verify nor refute its accuracy.

The company said it would press the government for recognition that Internet
service providers “should not be liable for the millions of items carried on
the Internet every day”. But that is precisely what has been established in
this case. Nick Braithwaite, Godfrey's lawyer, said the case “had established a
firm precedent that Internet service providers can be publishers in English
libel law”.

It has also established that under UK law an Internet service provider is
responsible for the material carried on its sites, regardless of the country of
origin. In the United States, ISPs are considered to be no more liable for the
messages posted on them than the post office would be for the contents of
letters it delivers.

But US-based ISPs are still threatened by this decision, according to London
media lawyer Mark Stephens. He told the New York Times that service providers
everywhere would be vulnerable to threats from the rich and litigious. ISPs,
“wherever they're located in the world and whether or not they're protected by
the free speech guarantees of the Bill of Rights in America” could be dealt
with “harshly, robustly and expensively in the British courts,” he said.

He described the situation created by the settlement as “open season” on ISPs:
“This exposes Internet companies to the ability on the part of the rich and
powerful to censor them. If you're rich and powerful, you could sue the
Internet company to take something off the Internet edition of an American
newspaper, because you know they're going to censor the newspaper even if the
newspaper doesn't censor itself.”

If ISPs are held liable for the content they carry on their servers, they will
be under tremendous pressure to become the censors of public opinion. As a
result of the Godfrey case, Demon Internet now routinely removes material that
it considers “unsuitable or defamatory,” according to a company spokeswoman.

his making this radio show available to the world on his website.)

 On to today's e-wire

Former Arkansas State Trooper Larry Nichols, -- vocal critic of the
real Bill Clinton, whom he guarded and transported during Clinton's
Arkansas days as Governor, -- relayed to this writer a first hand
story about Tim Russert, NBC, and polls during the Clinton
 impeachment proceedings.

Through a fortuitous mix up, both Larry Nichols and I were
scheduled for the same day on the Ernie Sanders show, which airs
in Cleveland, Ohio. Rather than reschedule either of us, Ernie
Sanders put us both on the air. After the show and off the air,
Mr. Nichols kindly gave me his home phone number, and I called him
that night to discuss computerized votefraud and related issues.

Mr. Nichols told me that during the Clinton impeachment hearings
he was in fairly regular touch with Tim Russert, the host of NBC's
Meet the Press Sunday morning interview show. In fact, Russert
would sometimes call Nichols at home.

During the impeachment process, Tim Russert told Nichols that NBC's
internal tracking polls showed that 80% of the people wanted
 Clinton removed from office.

A few weeks later Nichols was watching Meet the Press when Russert
threw up the figures we all heard and saw incessantly: that 70% of
the people wanted Clinton to stay in office

The next time Nichols was called by Russert, he asked him about the
discrepancy, and what follows is a paraphrase of what Larry Nichols
 told me about that conversation:

Nichols: "You lying son of a gun, you told me that your tracking
polls showed 80% of the people wanted Clinton out of office --
then you tell the public that 70% of the people want him to stay.

Russert: Well, those tracking polls are for our internal use
only, we can't release those to for public consumption. The polls
we released were the ones we paid for outside pollsters to do.
Those are the ones we release.

(End of paraphrase of the Nichols-Russert conversation as related
 by Larry Nichols.)

How were the tracking polls done? How were the polls NBC released
done? What questions were asked? Who was called? How many polls
were taken before they released the one that conveyed the
information the Big TV networks wanted the public to hear? Or,
did NBC and the others just lie, using the polls they aid for as
a cover for the phony story they released?

No one in the public arena knows, and no one (except us and a few
others) seems to care. Yet candidates, leaders, public office
holders, and factions from all across the political spectrum
seemingly accept these Big TV network polls as if they are being
brought down and delivered by an angel from heaven.

And now we're going to let these info-devils at the Big TV Networks
tell us which candidates can be in the Presidential Debates --
based on their mysterious polls??? Are we living in an insane
 asylum, or what?

Nichols' story fits with other information on the subject. MIT
professor Naom Chomsky said on C-Span a few years ago that there
were two sets of polls: one to tell the Ruling Elite behind the
Big TV networks what the people really think so they can figure out
how to maneuver and manipulate public opinion in the direction they
want it to go; and a second set of warped polls that are released
to the public for the very purpose of deceiving the people on what
the public as a body is really thinking.

Our March 27, 2000 e-wire deals with a lengthy report on the
manipulation of polls by Jack Koenig and his

 OCCURRENCE OF CAVITATIONS - CAVITAT

Bob Jones, the inventor of the CAVITAT (an ultrasound insturment
designed to detect and image cavitations) found cavitations of
various sizes and severity in approximately 94% of several
thousand wisdom teeth sites scanned. He also found cavitations
under or located near 100% of root canal teeth scanned in both
males and females of various ages from several different
geographic areas of the United States.

Note: Cavitations (jaw infections) can be entirely painless,
or they can cause referred pain elsewhere in the body, such
as in the lower back. Cavitations often cause sub-acute
endocarditis (heart infections) which can flare up and kill.

Routine Dental Extractions Routinely Produce Cavitations

Thomas E. Levy, MD, FACC, and Hal A. Huggins, DDS, MS

ABSTRACT: Cavitations (Cvs) are persistent holes found at the
extraction sites of permanent teeth after apparent healing has
taken place. Current dental literature considers this common
phenomenon to be rare. In the scientific literature, Cvs have
a plethora of synonyms. They have been variably labeled as
Ratner, Roberts, or trigger point bone cavities, interference
 fields, neuralgia-inducing cavitational osteonecrosis (NICO),
and alveolar cavitational osteopathosis. Evidence suggests
that the incidence of Cvs is presently grossly underestimated.
Therefore, we reviewed the charts of 112 randomly chosen
patients treated at the Huggins Diagnostic Center (HDC) from
1991 through 1995 to determine the incidence of Cvs in old
extraction sites. We believe this problem to be important to
the general health of patients who are being treated for a wide
range of diseases where such a dental condition may be the
ultimate cause or a significant contributing factor.

This manuscript is clearly one written for dental surgeons. It
describes, however, a little known phenomenon that is extremely
important in the general ill health of many patients with a
number of different diseases that are not usually associated
with dental problems. Since there is more and more need for
health professionals to collaborate in their disciplines, the
work reported here should be valuable to physicians.

It leads from our model that modulation of weak IR laser beam
with resonant wave number around: 1200 (1/cm), directed to
acupuncture points of skin by audio and/or video signals should
induce corresponding modulation of MTs supercatastrophe in
these points. We believe that propagation of nerve signals via
axons to brain centers, responsible for next stage of
information processing, can induce the perception of video and
audio signals even of blind and deaf people. Using the system
of flexible wave-guides linking the IR laser beam source and
set of sensitive (acupuncture) skin-points the effectiveness of
Audio/Video signals skin transmitter can be enhanced.

The same approach could be used also for synchronization of
neuronal activity, leading to stimulation of different kind of

US troops clash with Kosovo Serbs

US troops patrol the southern sector of Kosovo

At least 27 people have been injured in clashes between Serbs and Nato
peacekeepers in Kosovo.
The American military said 11 of their peacekeeping troops, as well as a
Polish soldier and an interpreter, were hurt in a confrontation with local
Serbs.

Fourteen Serbs were also reported injured, including 10 who were struck by
rubber bullets fired in an attempt to break up the fracas.

The incident began around midday on Tuesday when a Serb was arrested during
a routine search for illegal weapons possession.

US military sources said K-For troops had seized two hand grenades in the
house of a Serb in the village of Sevce, about 60km (40 miles) south of
Pristina, near the Macedonian border.

About 150 Serbs surrounded the house and refused to allow the troops to
leave.

Polish soldiers then set up a roadblock to prevent some 300 angry Serbs
from
reaching the scene.

The arrested man was taken to Camp Bondsteel, the main US base in Kosovo,
but later taken back to the roadblock in an attempt to ease the tension.

The crowds were told that he would be released in 48 hours under normal
procedures.

The independent Yugoslav news agency Beta said that several women attempted
to wrest the man from the soldiers.

The peacekeepers released attack dogs to try to disperse the crowd, and the
villagers responded with clubs and dogs of their own.

US military sources said the area was calm by late Tuesday evening.

The shame of it all is we are expected to foot the bill for whatever comes into
the theatres. An interesting study of Hollyweird and its gaggle of silly geese
can be seen on, paradoxically enough, the E! channel, most notably either via
its Scandals or its True Hollywood Story series. There's an article somewhere
dealing with whether or not the big 'stars' are worth the $$$ paid to them for
their protrayal of life as we (are told we should) know it. My disenchantment
with Hollyweird came about after learning that Jim Carrey makes about $20M a
flick, for being a 'Pet Detective', no less. This is not to forget Bruce
Willis and Mel Gibson making mega$$$ for their contributions to the violence
and mayhem on the (tarnished) silver screen. The latest from Gibson in the
video stores is *Payback* which is well done (everyone gets paid back) but his
one-man (after the fashion of "Rambo") war against some gangsters has something
lacking ... and his character only wants $70K out of it, $70K we are supposed
to believe he deserves but an amount he stole to begin with, nevertheless. And
I thought *Taxi Driver* was violent a quarter century ago (couldn't watch some
scenes).

And, so: we pay the theatres who pay the distributors who pay the whoevers on
up the line with $$$ feeding the imaginations of the stars and directors and
producers and whoevers in search of the next obscenity.

I think the most egregious example of this scam was *Saving Private Ryan*
(which was essentially a remake of the *Longest Day* with an old *Combat* (TV
show) script as the pretext for the story). And for this Spielberg and Hanks
got some award from the War Department. Shows how easily Gen X is duped and
entertained by remakes of reruns. And the ending, when Ryan asks if he was
worth it; to the studios, all those grave markers must have looked like the $$$
amount placards in an old cash register. Why didn't Ryan ask the surviving
family members of all who (supposedly) lost their lives tracking him down? And
just what did Ryan do in the intervening years in justification for the orgy of
blood and guts that Spielberg and Hanks spilled all over the place?

Peace at any cost is a prelude to war!

An Army of Gun Lies
How the other side plays.

By Dave Kopel

Mr. Kopel is research director of the Independence Institute, a free-market
think tank in Colorado.

Antigun advocates have always faced an uphill battle in this country.
Americans have, to begin with, a constitutional right to gun ownership.
Today, half of American households exercise this right, owning a total of
about 250 million guns; and over 99 percent of those households do so in a
responsible manner. To fight for major restrictions on an item that plays
such a valued part in the lives of so many people looks like a nearly
impossible task. So if you’re really committed to the effort, and you want to
win, what do you do?

Simple: You lie.

A full listing of the lies told by the antigun lobby could fill a book. A
short list of the more popular ones would have to begin with the canard about
the number of children killed by firearms. We are told repeatedly that 13, or
15, or 17 children every day are killed by guns. This factoid is used to
conjure up pictures of dozens of little kids dying in gun accidents every
week.

In truth, the number of fatal gun accidents is at its lowest level since
1903, when statistics started being kept. That’s right: Not only is the per
capita accident rate at a record low, so is the actual number of
accidents—even though the number of people and the number of guns are both
much larger than in 1903. The assertions about “X children per day” are
based on counting older teenagers, or even people in their early twenties, as
“children.” The claims are true only if you count a 19-year-old drug dealer
who is shot by a competitor, or an 18-year-old armed robber who is shot by a
policeman, as “a child killed by a gun.” As for actual children (14 years
and under), the daily death rate is 2.6. For children ten and under, it’s 0.4
per day—far lower than the number of children who are killed by automobiles,
drowning, or many other causes.

If the statistic about child gun deaths is the most notorious lie, one of the
most frequent has to do with gun shows. All of the antigun groups repeat,
incessantly, the phrase “gun-show loophole.” As a result, much of the public
believes that gun shows are special zones exempt from ordinary gun laws.
Handgun Control, Inc., the major antigun group, has an affiliate in Colorado
that claims that the “vast majority” of guns used in crimes come from gun
shows, while the Violence Policy Center calls gun shows “Tupperware parties
for criminals.”

This is all an audacious lie. First of all, the laws at gun shows are exactly
the same as they are everywhere else. If a person is “engaged in the
business” (as the law puts it) of selling firearms, then he must fill out a
government registration form on every buyer, and get FBI permission (through
the National Instant Check System) for every sale—regardless of whether the
sale takes place at his gun store, at an office in his home, or at a gun
show. Those who are not gun dealers by profession, but happen to be selling a
gun, are not required to follow this procedure. To imply that gun dealers can
go to an event called a “gun show” and thus avoid the law is absolutely
false. Also false is the charge about Tupperware parties for criminals.
According to a National Institute of Justice study released in December 1997,
only 2 percent of guns used in crimes come from gun shows. The gun-show
charge has great currency in the media, but it is not very important in
itself. How about the more serious charge that guns are basically dangerous
to society? Public-health experts and gun-control lobbyists will tell you
that most murders, including those involving guns, take place among
acquaintances and are perpetrated by ordinary people; these facts supposedly
indicate that ordinary people are too hot-tempered to be allowed to have
guns.

The facts tell a different story: 75 percent of murderers have adult criminal
records. As for the rest, a large number either have criminal convictions as
juveniles or are still teenagers when they commit the murder; laws dealing
with access to juvenile-crime records prevent full access to their rap
sheets. Furthermore, the category of “acquaintance” murders is misleading.
It includes drug buyers who kill a drug dealer to steal his stash, and thugs
who assault each other in barroom brawls.

There’s also a sad irony here. Domestic murders are almost always preceded by
many incidents of violent abuse. If a domestic-violence victim flees the
home, and her ex- husband tracks her down and tries to rape her, and she
shoots him, the killing will be labeled a “tragic domestic homicide that was
caused by a gun,” rather than what it legally is: justifiable use of deadly
force against a felon.

The famous factoid that a gun in the home is 43 times

 Blackhawks for Chinese army
PLA pressed Chung for
military exports from Clinton

In a WorldNetDaily exclusive interview, Chinagate figure Johnny Chung
revealed for the first time that the Chinese army sought his help to obtain
parts for Blackhawk helicopters.
"It is like throwing a stone to open the gate," commented Chung during an
interview in Los Angeles. "The Chinese army knew I had access. They wanted me
to throw the stone."

"At one point in 1995, one of the (Chinese) businessmen approached me and
asked, 'Would you ask your government to allow us to buy helicopter parts?'"
said Chung.
Johnny Chung: "It was like throwing a stone to open the gate." Photo by
Brenda Smith.

"Now, I am a facsimile broadcasting service businessman. I told him that I
was not in the helicopter business. I told him that I was not interested in
helicopters. Why should I help?"

"He said, 'It's important,'" noted Chung. "'We bought these helicopters from
your country years ago. Blackhawk helicopters. The helicopters are not
military. They are used as rescue equipment. Now out of the 20 or 30
helicopters, we can only use two or three because of a lack of spare parts.'"

"I told him I am not an arms dealer, but he persisted. He asked again, 'Can
you ask your government to do that?' I told him again, no. That is not my
specialty. I know nothing about military equipment. I am in the fax
business."

"That was 1995 or early 1996," said Chung.

A former Democratic fund-raiser who became involved with funneling Chinese
military money to the Clinton administration, Chung subsequently pleaded
guilty and cooperated fully with the FBI in its Chinagate investigation.

Chung's personal account is not the only data available on the
China/Blackhawk dealings. After being turned down by Chung, the Chinese
military succeeded in obtaining the Blackhawk parts through other means.
Allegedly, former Reagan official Alexander Haig lobbied the White House on
China's behalf to acquire the Blackhawk parts.

In 1997, the Clinton administration granted the Chinese army permission to
buy the spare helicopter parts.
U.S. Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter at work in Kosovo. According to the Rand
Corporation, the Chinese army obtained Blackhawk advanced communications
equipment illegally "under the guise of non-restricted merchandise." U.S.
Army photo.

The Chinese army reportedly uses the Blackhawk helicopters for search and
rescue operations. However, the UH-60 helicopter also has a long history of
military service and could play a critical role in any People's Liberation
Army effort to invade Taiwan.

Blackhawk helicopters served the U.S. forces in Kosovo and in the desert war
with Iraq in airborne assaults on enemy positions.

Aviation Week Space Technology noted that defense evaluations of the
Chinese army helicopter force show that the Asian superpower is critically
short of the vertical airlift needed for an invasion of Taiwan. In contrast,
the Indian army alone has more helicopters.

U.S. intelligence sources also confirmed that Russia has offered to lease
helicopters to China for the invasion of Taiwan.

The Chinese military actions appear to be a major long-term effort to acquire
U.S. helicopter technology. According to a 1997 Rand report, Chinese arms
manufacturer Poly Technologies illegally sought U.S. exports of Blackhawk
parts. The Rand report noted that one such subsidiary of Poly Tech, a firm
called "PTK International," was also involved in espionage.

"Dynasty handled all incoming and outgoing money for Poly, including
management of all Poly investments in the U.S., and coordinated procurement
of defense-related materials with PTK and U.S. firms," noted the 1997 Rand
report. "Allegedly, Dynasty illegally shipped some of these materials,
including advanced radar systems, minicomputers, and advanced communications
equipment for use in the PLA UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters, to China under the
guise of non-restricted merchandise."

Federal Judge Robert Payne forced the Commerce Department to release the Rand
Corporation report in 1998. The report also contains detailed information
about Poly Technologies and its origin.

"Poly Technologies, Ltd., was founded in 1984, ostensibly as a subsidiary of
CITIC (China International Trust and Investment Corporation), although it was
later exposed to be the primary commercial arm of the PLA General Staff
Department's Equipment Sub-Department. Throughout the 1980s, Poly sold
hundreds of millions of dollars of largely surplus arms around the world,
exporting to customers in Thailand, Burma, Iran, Pakistan, and the United
States," states the Rand report.

The connections to Poly Technologies also lead directly to President Clinton.
In 1996, Poly

000518. USAFE Public Affairs tapped as best in the Air Force

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany (AFPN) -- U.S. Air Forces in Europe was selected
March 30 as having the best major command public affairs program in the Air
Force.

The Brig. Gen. Harry J. Dalton Award for Public Affairs Excellence was
presented to USAFE during the annual worldwide Public Affairs Professional
Development Seminar in Leesburg, Va.

"This command is the busiest command in the Air Force," said Col. Doug
McCoy, USAFE director of public affairs. "We have small teams of PA
professionals at the headquarters and the wings who make a huge impact every
day telling the USAFE and the Air Force story. I'm pleased that the Air
Force recognized the fantastic work they've accomplished and I'm very proud
of them all."

That work included supporting Operation Allied Force and telling the Air
Force side of 1999's biggest international story. During the war in
Kosovo, PA people played host to more than 3,000 media representatives from
more than 30 countries.

Twenty-five public affairs specialists deployed to 17 sites during the war
to set up bare-base operations or augment offices at main operating bases.
They wrote 200 stories and released more than 2,500 photos on the role of
the Air Force and its people during the war. Many of those photos
subsequently appeared in Air Force Print News, USA Today, Reuters and
Associated Press.

Individual accomplishments contributed to USAFE winning the Dalton award and
several USAFE people and programs were recognized at the Air Force level.

President Clinton Found in Criminal Violation of Privacy Act
White House Response: We're Above The Law

--
--
By MARVIN LEE
--
--

The White House claim of attorney-client privilege -- used to protect the
President from numerous criminal investigations -- seriously backfired in
court last week.

For there is a crime-fraud exception to the attorney-client privilege.
Communications between an attorney (the White House Counsel's Office) and his
client (The President) cannot be protected under the privilege if they have
been in furtherance of a crime.

The crime, said Judicial Watch in its Filegate lawsuit against the White
House and the FBI, was the release of Kathleen Willey's letter by the
President to discredit her after she appeared on "60 minutes." Judge Royce
Lamberth agreed:

"Thus, the plaintiffs have established that the President had the requisite
intent for committing a criminal violation of the Privacy Act."
And so Judge Lamberth ordered the White House to release within 20 days the
information it has until now claimed privileged:

1. Any and all knowledge these [White House] officials have, including any
meetings held or other communications made, about the obtaining of the FBI
files of former White House Travel Office employees Billy Ray Dale, John
Dreylinger, Barney Brasseux, Ralph Maughan, Robert Van Eimerren, and John
McSweeney.
2. Any and all knowledge these officials have, including any meetings held or
other communications made, about the release or use of any documents between
Kathleen Willey and President Clinton or his aides, or documents relating to
telephone calls or visits between Willey and the President or his aides.

3. All meetings held or other communications made, including all
communications made to the media, related to the use or obtaining of FBI
background investigation files, summary reports, or raw data on persons
included on the FBI files list.

4. Any and all communications these officials have had relating to release or
use of information from Linda Tripp's Department of Defense files.

5. Any and all communications and/or meetings these officials have had with
Cody Shearer.

The White House response was to say that it was above the law. It claimed
that "the White House Office is not subject to the Privacy Act," and
announced its intention to appeal Judge Lamberth's decision.

Rep. Blunt - America's Energy Policy

Rep. Blunt - America's Energy Policy
"We needed to have an Energy Policy
House of Representatives - March 30, 2000

The SPEAKER pro tempore. Under a previous order of the House, the gentleman
from Missouri (Mr. Blunt) is recognized for 5 minutes.

Mr. BLUNT. Mr. Speaker, I was amazed at the end of the business day today
when there was a discussion on the floor as to whether or not the failure to
extend the law that authorizes the strategic oil reserve, and the concerns
that many Members have about the Energy Department, somehow means that the
Congress of the United States is responsible for the failure to have an
energy policy for the last 7 years. It is exactly the kind of wrongheaded
thinking that has allowed us to lull ourselves as a Nation into where we are
today with gasoline prices, with heating oil prices.

Certainly nobody is going to release the strategic oil reserve if that
authorization is not extended for a few days. I think there is a very
legitimate question as to who should control the strategic oil reserve.
Should it be the Department of Energy or should it be the Department of
Defense? What is the purpose of a strategic oil reserve? Is it militarily
strategic, or is it strategic in some other way?

In fact, what has happened for the last 7 years is that on all three fronts
that we needed to have an energy policy, we have not had an effective energy
policy. We have not dealt with the oil-producing nations that we have come to
rely too much on for oil and gasoline. We have done everything we could to
discourage domestic production. We have not done anything to encourage
alternative sources of energy, and in fact, the Secretary of Energy on
February 16 said that we were caught napping at the Department of Energy. The
administration really did not expect to see these oil prices go up.

That is the same Department of Energy that there were Members on this floor
just a few minutes ago saying should unquestionably be given an extended
ability to manage the energy policy of the United States. It is part of the
same administration that, for 7 years, has really managed to perform the
governmental hat trick of looking at the three areas that we ought to be
thinking about for more energy independence and doing everything possible to
insure that we would have more energy dependence.

We saw the Secretary of Energy in the last few days and weeks going to those
oil-producing nations that in the past have been our dependable allies,
certainly we have been their dependable ally, and acting as if it was a huge
deal to have a small concession of increased production from those countries.

Whenever those countries, some of those countries, came to us and said, we
would like young American men and women to come over and defend our country,
we did not have the response that, well, we will see if we can do a little
something, and we will do it, and we will let you know when it might happen.
It will be out there sometime.

That was not our response. Now to assume that that is an acceptable response,
something is wrong. Either something is wrong with our relationship with
those countries, or something has been wrong in maintaining that
relationship.

In terms of alternative sources, the Secretary of Energy just a couple of
Sundays ago said maybe the answer is wind power. Well, the answer may not be
wind power, the answer may be brain power. The answer may be looking at what
we can do to ensure that we are not caught in this same situation 2 or 3 or 4
or 5 years from now, to become increasingly dependent on foreign oil, to do
nothing to encourage alternative energy sources in this country, to do
everything to discourage domestic supply.

To do everything to really put the internal combustion engine at risk without
coming up with any alternatives is an economic travesty. Our economy has some
jeopardy right now because of a failure of policy.

For our colleagues to stand up here and say that the Department of Energy
needs to be congratulated for what they have done in energy, or the
Department of Energy needs to be extended into the future without any
question, or that if this Congress questions the Department of Energy,
somehow the Congress becomes automatically responsible for the failures of
that department and this administration for the last 7 years in this area,
does not really meet the test of credibility on this floor or in the country.

I think we need to look very carefully at where we are, how we got here, and
what the Department of Energy has had to do with those results that are
likely to lead to $2 gas prices and significant challenges to our economy
this summer.

Rep. Metcalf-"We Have No Business in Kosovo"
"We Need to Bring America Home
OPPOSING CONTINUED U.S. INVOLVEMENT IN THE BALKAN CONFLICT

(House of Representatives - March 30, 2000)

The SPEAKER pro tempore. Under a previous order of the House, the gentleman
from Washington (Mr. Metcalf) is recognized for 5 minutes.

Mr. METCALF. Mr. Speaker,we have no business in Kosovo. We have no overriding
national interest there.

We have heard much vaunted allegations of human rights violations leveled
against the Serbian government. Unfortunately, once again, we come to find
out that an administration determined to mire us in overseas turmoil has
greatly exaggerated the situation to win over a skeptical public and stampede
the Congress.

In this case, we were told several months ago that as many as 100,000
Albanian Kosovars were brutally murdered. Now we are looking at a figure
closer to 1,000.

What of our continually expanded bombing that eventually included not only
public transportation but medical facilities, nearly 100 schools, churches,
and homes? What of the innocent deaths we inflicted with tax dollars of the
citizens of the United States? What have we done here? What were the
objectives of our President's most recent adventure? What are the results?

We were told when we went into Kosovo that we went there to stop ethnic
cleansing. It continues with a vengeance, this time with the acquiescence of
our own forces.

The KLA, not 2 years ago classified by our own State Department as a
heroin-financed terrorist organization, soon to be vaunted by the Clinton
administration as freedom fighters, now roams the countryside brutalizing
innocents, not only Serbs but gypsies, Muslims, Slavs, and Albanians opposed
to their thuggishness.

Bishop Artemije of the Diocese of Kosovo stated one month ago before the
Helsinki Commission, and I quote, `More than 80 Orthodox churches have been
either completely destroyed or severely damaged since the end of the war. The
ancient churches, many of which survived 500 years of Ottoman Moslem rule,
could not survive 8 months of the internationally guaranteed peace.
Regretfully, all this happens in the presence of KFOR, the NATO peacekeeping
force in Kosovo, and the U.N.'

Yes, we have cast our lot with the KLA and its affiliates, an organization
dedicated to its own version of ethnic cleansing. Removal of all
non-Albanians from a region that not only includes Kosovo, but also southern
Serbia and Macedonia, with its Albanian minority.

We were told we went into Kosovo to `stabilize the Balkans.' Initially, the
ambiguity of our policy gave the green light to separatist movements around
the region. Today, in both Bosnia and Kosovo, we are committed into the
future as far as the eye can see. When I was able to cause a vote on the
floor of the House on the incursion into Bosnia, a vote the administration
did not want to take place, I stated on this floor, Mr. Speaker, that Mr.
Clinton would not keep his promise to us.

What was his promise? That he would send our American troops home from Bosnia
by December 20, 1996. I ask, Mr. Speaker, what stability have we achieved in
the Balkans? And at what price to this Nation? Can anyone share with this
Congress a realistic exit strategy from this quagmire?

In the Kosovo region, yesterday's Washington Post tells us that Kosovar
militias still refuse to disarm and are now destabilizing southern Serbia. A
new confrontation with Milosevic and a new refugee crisis is feared. And what
will we do with a violent KLA we empowered when it turns its sights on
Macedonia, which also has an Albanian population?

I agree with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's assessment of our Balkan
interventions recently published in the Financial Times. She said, `NATO has
got to get off of this merry-go-round. It must acknowledge that imposing
multicultural democracy at the point of a gun is not working.'

Mr. Speaker, we were told we went into Kosovo to thwart the Serbian ruler
there, Milosevic. What have we accomplished here? Milosevic is more firmly in
place than ever; hard-liners in Serbia in a better place than ever before due
entirely to our intervention; the bombing of civilians; the vilification of
the Serbian people; and, the destruction of the Serbian culture under our
occupation.

We were told we went into Kosovo to ensure the credibility of NATO. But did
we do this by violating the first section of the NATO charter by launching a
war against a sovereign Nation that has committed no aggression against any
of its neighbors? NATO's strength was that it was a shield, not a sword. Some
skeptics say that NATO actions were one of justification, considering their
original mission was to protect Europe from a Soviet Union that no longer
exists.

The costs of Kosovo? Displacement of

For years I have regarded the Academy Awards as Hollywood masturbating in a

point. My wife and I saw it last week, and for once we agreed on a film:
this one is not simply perverse, it is perverted. It has absolutely no
redeeming social value...it doesn't know whether it's a black comedy, a

(Monday, April 3, 2000) -- Last week, GOA notified you about Rep.
John Hostettler's fight to preserve the Second Amendment. He is
leading the charge to stop the Clinton administration from imposing
back door gun control upon a good portion of the gun industry
through its recent deal with Smith Wesson.

Hostettler's deadline is sometime this week. Thus, if you have not
yet contacted your Representative, you only have a couple of days
left. By the way, Rep. Hostettler has decided to get pro-gun
language inserted in two budget subcommittees, and thus he is
sending two letters -- one to the VA-HUD subcommittee and one to the
Treasury subcommittees.

ACTION: Take a look at the list of Reps. that have signed
Hostettler's letters (two paragraphs below). All the

Members who had signed the letters by the close of business on

 Pre-written message -

Dear Representative:

I noticed that you have yet to lift a finger in supporting Rep. John
Hostettler's efforts to stop Clinton's back door attempt at gun
control. Why is that?

Rep. Hostettler is trying to get a very important amendment into
both the Treasury and the VA-HUD budgets this year. In order to get
support from various Representatives, he is circulating two letters
addressed to the appropriations subcommittee chairmen that are in
charge of the Treasury and HUD departments. They are
Representatives Jim Kolbe and James Walsh.

These letters ask Reps. Kolbe and Walsh to insert language defunding
the Oversight Commission that was created in the recent Clinton
Wesson agreement.

Although not widely reported, the Clinton Wesson agreement would
regulate the sales of ALL FIREARMS SOLD by dealers carrying Smith
Wesson products.

Dealers wishing to sell Smith Wesson guns would be REQUIRED to
mandate government-approved safety courses for Glock purchasers.
Dealers wishing to sell Smith Wesson guns would be REQUIRED to
limit Beretta purchases to one gun at a time.

Dealers wishing to sell Smith Wesson guns would be prohibited from
selling ANY firearm after 72 hours -- or 72 years -- unless the FBI
had given its approval in connection with a Brady Law Instant Check.
The Clinton Wesson agreement stipulates that participating gun
retailers cannot sell ANY firearm until they receive definitive
notice that the transferee is not a prohibited person under the Gun
Control Act.

Currently, if FBI has not given a definitive "yes" or "no" reply,
the dealer may proceed to consummate

I may have posted this already, but I have some Kabballah posts and would
like you to see who is doing what with the Kabballah, regarding the return
of the 'Messiah'? arranged by Dr James Hurtak's Et masters to come about in
Jerusalem..It appears that an Israeli Kabbalist seems to be following a
similar philosophy to Hurtak with the regathering of the 12 tribes in Israel

[CTRL] Fwd: Socialism Still A Failure

Subject: Fwd: Socialism Still A FailureForwarded intact, credit where credit is due.- Original Message - From: The Republican <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Socialism Still A Failure CONGRESS ACTION: April 2, 2000 = SOCIALISM STILL A FAILURE: To anyone not blinded to reality by their ideology, it is no secret that socialism, because of its inherent and essential nature, is, and must always be, an abject and disastrous failure. The failure of socialism and social engineering by "the best and brightest" of left-wing liberalism is once again being proven, the latest evidence coming from communist China, Canada, Britain, France, and Australia. Exhibit One: Communist China's one-child policy has long been a shining example to which the population control extremists in this country point, admiringly demanding that we should try to be as "enlightened" as those Chinese so we can "save the earth". As has been repeatedly demonstratedon this page and elsewhere, the very ideas that the world is overpopulated, and that population density leads to poverty and starvation, are totally erroneous; but the "save the earth" crowd simply isn't interested in facts. Now comes news from communist China that their one-child policy isn't all it's cracked up to be, and has been, in fact, a disaster. Communist officials, "spurred on by a rash of student suicides, breakdowns and family murders", are "softening" their policy. The social engineers have been shocked by widespread female infanticides, illegal gender-selective abortions, and rampant official corruption and terrorism in enforcing the policy. Turns out that, no matter how hard the "enlightened" try, people simply can't be "engineered" like machines.Think that the Jane Fonda-Ted Turner-Hillary Clinton population controllers in this country will learn anything? Don't bet on it. Exhibit Two: Socialized, government controlled medicine is a perennial favorite of the leftist social engineers in this country. Hillary Clinton has become most closely associated with that goal as a result of her disastrous nationalized health care scheme in 1993, and she has long touted Britain's National Health Service with envy. Former candidateBill Bradley made nationalized health care a major plank of his failed campaign, and candidate Al Gore has cited Canada's health care system asa model to be emulated. Now from Canada comes a report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) that there are long waiting lists for surgical and diagnostic procedures (one reportconcludes that the median patient has to wait 70% longer than is medically reasonable); that some procedures, routine in the United States, are unavailable in Canada; that technical devices such as CT scanners andMRI machines are scarce; that cost controls on pharmaceuticals have actually led to deaths from the lack of available medicines; and most astonishingof all, in this era of increasing general world-wide health and lengthening life spans, Canadian life expectancy is actually declining. FromBritain's National Health Service comes a report that perhaps one third of all terminally ill cancer patients are dying only because of delays in treatment or misdiagnoses. According to the London Times, "long delays between appointments were often blamed for a time lag when previously treatable cancers grew incurable". A leading British cancer specialistwas quoted "It costs nothing to ensure that patients see a doctor within two weeks, as the government has insisted, but what is the point if theythen have to wait about three months for treatment with a worn-outradiotherapy machine?" Think that the Hillary Clinton-Al Gore nationalized healthcare schemers in this country will learn anything? Don't bet on it. Exhibit Three: France contains what is considered to be the last big communist party in Europe. But this week, France's communist party scheduled a party vote on a document condemning the history ofcommunism, concluding that communism "did not liberate humanity", but rather led to the "oppression of the individual, a tendency to see different opinionsas deviation or betrayal, and practices which in all too many casesbordered on the criminal". Sounds like political correctness in this country. One member of the party hierarchy in Paris said "It's time to move on and leave all those old ideas behind. They didn't do us any good." True, but those ideas did lead to mass imprisonment and the slaughter of millions. Typical of the usual reaction of brain-dead socialists (and leftists in this country), who never let reality intrude into their irrational fantasies, was the reaction of one old communist in France: "It's notthe party that needs to change, it's the rest of society." Typical of the egomaniacal thinking of all socialists: the rest of the world is wrong, only they are right. Think that the socialist left in this country, that is still trying to impose government regulation on everything in

Subject: (50 Years) The New Unrest

 The New Unrest
Radicals are finally finding their voices again

For the longest time, being on the left has meant being marginal,
powerless and embattled. Since at least the Reagan years, we've been
history's losers, the dorks and freaks of the political realm. Often, we
adapted poorly to our general irrelevance, turning inward to fight over
inanities or purveying stale messages- "Bad slogans repeated, ensure
 we'll be defeated"-at predictable demonstrations.

There were issue-oriented movements that bucked this trend-big, important
causes that won sizable victories, such as the anti-apartheid movement
and the AIDS direct-action group ACT UP. But viable on-the-ground
activism with a sweeping economic and political agenda? That kind of
radicalism was almost nowhere to be found.

History has turned a corner. Suddenly, as this new century begins, a new
radicalism has emerged: broad, confident and compelling. The World Trade
Organization protests in Seattle marked this movement's first major
victory and mass media debut, but the new unrest is not limited to the
loud and varied activism around issues of corporate globalization.

Everywhere, dissent is growing more vocal and spirited. Groups that once
worked at arm's length from one another are newly discovering common
 ground-from the increasingly multi-generational and multi-ethnic
campaigns against police brutality and the "prison-industrial complex" to
the new collaborations between organized labor and immigrant rights
 groups.

Han Shan, program director for the Ruckus Society, a five-year-old
organization that trains activists the techniques and strategies of
direct action, echoes the analysis other young radicals profess: "I think
that people have finally begun to dig deeper and understand that there
are vast economic paradigms that underlie a lot of the environmental
problems that we have, a lot of the human rights issues that they face."

With this new sense of momentum and common ground, level-headed
organizers are beginning to talk in terms that would have seemed
delusional just a short time ago.

"This is the biggest opening for building a mass movement in my
lifetime," says David Solnit, a veteran of 1980s and 1990s activism and
one of the key organizers of the Seattle WTO blockade. "Most of the past
mass movements in this country have been around single issues like
disarmament or Central America or forests. This is bringing people
together from all the different fights."

Personally, I'm dubious about anything being actually overthrown-the
snarky cynicism of the 1990s is beginning to seem dated, but healthy
skepticism never goes out of style.

That said, a whiff of insurrection is unquestionably in the air.
Everywhere you turn, it seems, people are vowing to shut down one or
 another elite institution.

The biggest such event in the near-term future is a major protest in
Washington, D.C., on April 16, designed to disrupt an annual meeting of
the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Radical activists
around the world have declared May 1, 2000 to be a "Global Day of Action,
Resistance, and Carnival Against Capitalism," with talk of blockading
stock exchanges and other institutions of the global economy.

And plans are afoot in Los Angeles and Philadelphia to mess with this
summer's Democratic and Republican Party conventions, on the reasoned
grounds that both parties have become nothing more than shills for
 moneyed interests.

Meanwhile, local fights are escalating. In New York City, for example,
there has been a long-standing battle against private luxury development
on publicly owned community gardens. The other night, several hundred
people calling themselves the Subway Liberation Front staged a raucous
outlaw party, taking over first an L and then an A train. A large part of
the crowd, juiced by its own defiance, proceeded to the recently
bulldozed Esperanza Garden on Manhattan's Lower East Side, where they
tore down the developer's fence and began replanting the land. This
impromptu action came at a high price: With no news cameras or legal
observers to provide cover for the radical gardeners, the NYPD swooped
in, badly beating a number of the participants.

In Milwaukee, opponents of a Jewel-Osco in the Riverwest area continue to
protest its presence after the store was built with some political
sleight-of-hand on what protesters viewed as future green space.

There is much about the new unrest that bears closer examination. Will
gestures of revolt overwhelm strategic considerations, as they did that
night in Esperanza Garden? How deep are the new alliances, particularly
those that seek to bridge racial and class

Screen Actors Guild and the Academy "Das Boot" ? Zer Goot !

The majority of the Gen. X Crowd would do well listening to their
Grandparents as to the Truth of Real American History that they
lived through. Those of us in our late 40's can remember our parents

Depression, WW II, and Korea. We in the 40's can relate to the
Gen. X crowd the Truth of Nam and Why We Aren't "Fonda Jane"!

Some of the pundits critized "Saving Private Ryan" calling it -
"Shaving Ryan's Private's". Because of the Ads and reviews I did
go to see the movie, And the Effects Really Rattled My Nerves !

I remember was it 25 years ago, that George C. Scott played
General Patton, in "PATTON", and there was the "Battle of the
Buldge". When my Father, who was there in the Ardenn, in that
Town Surrounded y the German Divisions, He told me how they
made it through on Nothing But Courage. He was a War Hero many
times over. And had suffered the rest of his life from what he went
through. I remember he told me his G.I. General told the Nazi General
"NUTS" as to terms of Surrender. He told me Never Ever Give Up
or Surrender ! I know that If God didn't allow for the Weather to break
for the U.S. Army Air Corps to get through, along with Patton's 3rd
Armored Division to break off one battle to race to their rescue - I
would Not have a Father to guide me growing up. And that Battle
would have been another "Alamo".

our parents. Those of us who are the Gen. X Parents have the Moral
Resposibility and Duty to Teach them the Truth of our American History,
NOT the Intellectual Flatulence that is written in the current "Revisionist

Our American Culture is Valuable as it was passed on to us by those
generations that came before us. And we Must preserve it to pass it
"improved" onto the next one. For If we don't; when it is our time for
judgement, what will we say to those who made the ultiminate sacrifice
for our sake? To have let our Society to Degerate as much as it had,
or any further? As Gen. Douglas McArthur said at his farewell speach

must always remember the Blood of the Patriots made this Nation Free,

[CTRL] The Messiah BEFORE Jesus

FEATURE-Was unknown messiah role model for Jesus?

JERUSALEM, April 2 (Reuters) - An ancient Jewish messiah named Menachem may
have been a hitherto unknown role model for Jesus Christ, according to an
Israeli researcher.
Israel Knohl, head of the Bible Department at Jerusalem's Hebrew University,
explains his theory in his book, "The Messiah Before Jesus: The Suffering
Servant of the Dead Sea Scrolls."

The book stems from three years of research based on the "Thanksgiving
scroll," which Knohl says was written by Menachem, leader of a first century
extremist Jewish sect.

It was one of seven scrolls and some 800 manuscripts found hidden in jars in
caves close to the Dead Sea in the 1940s and 1950s.

The scroll is damaged and Knohl believes that Menachem's ideas were so
explosive that "someone, at some time" tried to ruin it.

"I see here a mystery. If they wanted to preserve (the scroll) by putting it
in the jar, why should someone squeeze it, disfigure it?" Knohl asked a
recent theological conference.

He said a closer look at Menachem could change the way Jesus has been seen
for centuries.

"Menachem saw himself as a suffering servant of God but also a divine
messiah and son of man, concepts which scholars say did not coexist before
Jesus," he said.

"I say Jesus knew about Menachem. When Jesus came to the game there was
already a theology that the messiah should suffer, be killed and come to
life again."

The theory strikes a blow at traditional scholarship that has cast Jesus as
a preacher who was moulded into a messianic figure by followers only after
his death.

JESUS EMBODIED AN OLDER CONCEPT

"The main group of New Testament scholars tend to say there was no concept
of a suffering messiah in Judaism -- only a triumphant, glorious figure. But
the idea was there before with Menachem," Knohl said.

Many scholars believe the scrolls were written by the Essenes, an austere
first century Jewish sect.

Researchers believe the Essenes stored their sacred works, including copies
of the Hebrew bible, Jewish writings, codes and literature, in clay jars to
hide them from marauding Romans.

By patching together "pieces from pieces" from two hymns in the Thanksgiving
scroll and comparing them with other manuscripts of the same hymn found at
the site, Knohl said he had unearthed the unprecedented claims of a
suffering messiah.

"I was shocked when I saw it," he said.

As evidence, he points to hymns in the scroll in which the author not only
equates himself to the Suffering Servant in the Book of Isaiah but also
depicts himself sitting majestically like God in the presence of angels.

The links between Jesus and Menachem are also found in Jewish texts and in
the writings of the first century historian Josephus Flavius, which mention
a messiah called Menachem.

Several legends speak of a messiah of the same name who was born in
Bethlehem, Knohl said.

He also thinks that John the Baptist, believed by many scholars to be an
Essene, exposed Jesus to Menachem's ideas.

Menachem and Jesus were not only bound by ideology, but their lives and
deaths also bore a number of similarities, Knohl said.

Both were excommunicated by the rabbis of the day for their maverick views.
Both were killed by the Romans and believed by their followers to have risen
after their deaths.

SCEPTICISM REMAINS

Not everyone is convinced about Knohl's theory, however.

Peter Pettit of Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania likened Knohl to "an
experienced guide," who "entices us all to dance on the thread of his
argument."

But Pettit told the Jerusalem theology conference that he was cautious about
what he called the fragmentary nature of the texts and "narrowness of the
sources."

Knohl maintains that his theory provides a fuller picture of Jesus's
identity than has previously existed.

"Many Christians had given up the idea of knowing about the historical
Jesus...but now, 50 years after the scroll was found, for the first time we
can understand the background to Jesus's self-awareness," Knohl said.

Awareness of his imminent suffering weighed heavily on Jesus, the researcher
added.

"In the Garden of Gethsemane he is described in gospels as entering into
very deep depression. And what does he say? 'God, Father, if you can, take
this terrible mission from me, otherwise I will accept it,"' Knohl said.

"So in my view, this is a wonderful example of his inner struggle; he knew
he would be put to death, but in another part of his soul he is young man
and has a natural desire for life. He knew he was going to suffer. He
already knew the path."

Pettit says guessing Jesus's mindset, 2,000 years later, is not an easy
task.

"When we get into Jesus's psychology we are pretty high up on a pretty thin
thread," he said.

But Knohl is resolute.

"Jesus was not a pure imitation of this man. He had many new

Some
skeptics say that NATO actions were

I really like it when things like this come to light, because it causes people to
question what they have been taught for years and to question the strength of their
own beliefs. There are many possible interpretations that could come from this work,
only one of which was explored by the scholar who wrote the book referenced in the

contamination of the northwestern region.

An investigation into the case lasted nearly four years, culminating
in Nikitin's acquittal by the city court of St. Petersburg on December
29, 1999. For the first time in Russia's judicial history a citizen
won a case against the state security service.

Nikitin's defense lawyer Yuri Schmidt earlier said at a press
conference that "irrespective of the Supreme Court's decision,
Nikitin's case will be subsequently taken up by the European Court in
Strasbourg."

Nikitin said in turn that he will continue to do his old work and
cooperate with Bellona.

2 Russia's Review of Nikitin Case Seen as A Test of 'Dictatorship' The
Ottawa Citizen, March 29, 2000

Russia's Supreme Court reviews the acquittal of anti-nuclear activist
Alexander Nikitin today in a case that has been placed in the
spotlight by support from president-elect Vladimir Putin, a former KGB
agent.

The FSB, a successor to the KGB security police, arrested Mr. Nikitin
on treason charges in 1996 for making public information about
radioactive pollution in the Arctic Sea through the Norwegian
environmental group Bellona.

Many say the court's decision in the Nikitin case will send a message
about whether or not the Russian constitution is impervious to
authoritarian interference.

''The court review will be a small indicator of what's coming in this
country,'' Mr. Nikitin, a former navy captain said in a press
conference yesterday in downtown Moscow.

Mr. Nikitin was held in custody for 10 months following the treason
charges and then released to face trial.

A city court in St. Petersburg dismissed the charges last December,
based on the Russian constitution, which states that no secret
sub-legal acts, norms or laws can be sued against a citizen.

Citizen editorial writer Dan Gardner recently won the 1999 Amnesty
International media award for human rights coverage for a feature
story that traced Mr. Nikitin's struggle to expose environmental
hazards posed by nuclear waste and decommissioned nuclear submarines
in the Russian Arctic.

Mr. Putin, elected Russian president on Sunday, headed the FSB for
part of the time it was pressing its case against Mr. Nikitin.

Some human rights activists are anxious about a vow Mr. Putin made
this year to establish a ''dictatorship of the law'', emphasizing
dictatorship rather than the law.

But yesterday Mr. Nikitin said he hoped his woes were about to end.

''Yes, Putin was the head of the FSB but he did not get directly
involved the case and he did not begin it, and I hope he will end
it,'' said Mr. Nikitin.

''I'm totally calm before tomorrow's review but would very much like
this to be over because we have a lot of environmental work to do.''

Although Mr. Nikitin was outwardly calm, his attorney Yuri Shmidt said
the FSB's continuing interest in the case was cause of concern.

''These forces are not calming down. We sense they are working behind
the scenes,'' he said.

Yevgeny Chernov, a former Soviet navy vice-admiral and nuclear
submarine commander who is lobbying on Mr. Nikitin's behalf, said he
was less concerned. ''I'm counting on the strength of Putin's
character,'' he said.

Mr. Nikitin, whose research documented the dumping of nuclear waste
from 1965-89 and Soviet nuclear submarine accidents, said he would

ISSUE 1773 Sunday 2 April 2000

It's American imperialism to replace the Soviet kind
By Justin Sparks in Prague, David Wastell in Washington and Julian Coman

PLANS to send American FBI agents on to the streets of Prague, Budapest and
Warsaw have sparked a revival of Cold War rhetoric among hostile residents
and indignant local police.
Three new FBI offices are to be set up in eastern Europe by the end of the
year, manned by up to 20 officers who will "shadow" and advise their east
European counterparts on crime fighting. According to the American embassy in
Budapest, they will be charged with combating organised crime in the region
to "better ensure the safety of the American public in America and abroad".

Eastern Europe has long been identified by Washington as a safe haven for
Russian gangsters engaged in money-laundering, drug-running and
human-trafficking. The new strategy, enthusiastically endorsed by the host
governments, is the most aggressive move yet against the crime syndicates
which have flourished in the economic chaos that followed the collapse of
communism.

But local Left-wing politicians are calling the move an "American invasion",
while national police forces have been scandalised by rumours that the new
recruits will have the power to hire and fire their Czech, Polish and
Hungarian counterparts. Ordinary citizens such as Mr Klenek, a Prague
schoolteacher, fear that the FBI is about to replace the former KGB as
"paymasters" of the Czech secret services, still detested for their
repressive role in the communist era.

Mr Klenek said: "It's American imperialism to replace the Soviet kind.
Eventually they'll be running the Czech secret service just like the KGB did,
and they'll have access to all kinds of information about us. Not just about
politicians, but about average Czechs like me."

FBI spokesmen and American embassy officials are doing their best to play
down the powers the agents will be given. The bureau's spokesman for
international affairs, James Weber, said: "The FBI believes that it is
essential to station more of its highly skilled Special Agents in other
countries to prevent terrorism and foreign crime from reaching into the US to
kill and harm Americans.

"The US has been ravaged for far too long by foreign criminals originating in
partial or complete sanctuaries abroad, and using their beyond-the-border
advantages to carry out terrorism, drug trafficking, and other violent
crimes." But, Mr Weber added, the new agents "will not make arrests,
unilaterally develop or operate informants, nor gather intelligence."

Edward Kemp of the American embassy in Vienna said that the FBI's policy
would not be one of direct involvement. He said: "It's mainly assuming a
supervisory role, and is carrying out training courses." But those claims are
being treated with scepticism in Budapest, where an FBI training school has
been in operation for several years. One analyst, who researches organised
crime in Hungary, said: "There are a lot of reports of resentment among the
Hungarian security officers."

Although it is denied that agents will have powers of arrest, each FBI
officer will work alongside a Hungarian, who will arrest suspects on their
behalf. On the basis of their experiences at the training school, Hungarian
police and intelligence officers have complained about the brash style of the
Americans who, they say, treat them as inferiors.

Despite similar reservations among his own police forces and secret service,
Vaclav Havel, the Czech president, has loudly welcomed the prospect of an FBI
presence in Prague. Zdenek Zboril, a political analyst at Charles University
and a security-force adviser, said that the president's enthusiasm resulted
from his exasperation with continuing Russian influence in the Czech
Republic. As well as the Russian mafias dominating the Prague underworld,
Russian officials from the huge diplomatic corps have been implicated in
several high-profile spy scandals.

Mr Zboril said: "President Havel knows that he hasn't yet beaten the
communist past in this country. That's the real reason why he's so keen to
bring in the FBI - for a countervailing influence. There are still a lot of
old communists and ex-KGB officials pulling the strings here. The Czech
secret service itself still relies on methods and training taken from the
KGB."

Other Czech supporters of the FBI project point to the clear failure of local
police to deal with organised crime. Jan Kramek, a Czech Senator who claims
to have confidential secret-service information, said: "There's currently a
very real threat that the Czech Republic may become the number-one centre for
organised crime and international terrorism, not only in Europe but in the
whole world."

One police investigator, who wished to remain anonymous, said that political
corruption and poor existing police resources continually

I know that even the least technically minded will appreciate this
information about a new HTML. Something really ground breaking in mark up
languages has just been announced - MRML. This is obviously going to make a
big impression on impressionable people. You all know about HTML, VRML, XML
and SGML but now you'll have to get to grips with MRML.

A Guide to MRML

The Mind Reading Markup Language (MRML /mur'mul/) is a proprietary extension
of the HyperText Markup Language. This document, all MRML tags, and any
ideas you come up with while reading this information are the exclusive
property of the authors. This is an open specification that will be expanded
as mind control technology is refined.

MRML tags can be embedded into any regular HTML document. They are
completely invisible to all browsers. No one will ever know you are using
them.

NOTE: MRML is not case sensitive. freud is equivalent to FREUD or
frEUd.

Basic Markup Tags
The following MRML tags are used to read the client's mind for certain kinds
of thoughts and emotions about the contained text.

BRAINSCAN
Brainscan performs a light scan of the client's thoughts which may include
perceptions of their current environment. The Brainscan tag is an invaluable
tool for establishing a user's identity as it is much more reliable than
checking REMOTE_HOST or USER_ID variables.

THOUGHTSUCK
Thoughtsuck performs of deeper scan of the client's thoughts which may
included details of significant events within the past 24 hours.

DEEPFEARSsubject/DEEPFEARS
Probes the client's mind for their fears about the contained subject.

DEEPERFEARSsubject/DEEPERFEARS
Probes the client's mind for their deeper, more repressed fears about the
contained subject.

DEEPESTFEARSsubject/DEEPESTFEARS
Probes the client's mind for their deepest, most repressed fears about the
contained subject.
WARNING: This tag cannot be exported outside the US borders.

SEXTHOUGHTSsubject/SEXTHOUGHTS
Probes the client's mind for sexual thoughts about the contained subject.
Use of the Sexthoughts tag will likely be depreciated with the release of
the Freud and Jung specifications. Freud and Jung Tags
Specifications for Freudian id, ego, and superego tags and Jungian symbolic
tags are not currently available.

The HYPNOTIZE Tag
Current technology enables very primitive mind control using MRML tags. The
so-called Brainwashing tags are delimited by the the special

!--HYPNOTIZEHYPNOTIZE-- pair. Suggestions within the Hypnotize area are
completely invisible to all clients, but it is extremely important that the
tags are placed correctly. You are liable for any mental damages inflicted
by improperly placed tags.

HYPNOTIZE Area Tags
Within the !--HYPNOTIZE/HYPNOTIZE-- area the following tags may be used:

SUGGESTtext/SUGGEST
Used for mild, easily acceptable suggestions. For stronger suggestions use
PROGRAM and BELIEVE.
Some examples:
It is warm for this time of year.
You need to upgrade your computer.
Republican policies aren't all that bad.

MEMEtext/MEME
Information that you want the client to pass on to friends and
correspondents.
Some popular memes:
Chain letters
Urban legends
Cool ascii graphics

FORGETtext/FORGET
Things you want the client to forget. It may be desirable to have the client
forget the URL of your MRML documents.

PROGRAMtext/PROGRAM
Programs the client with a strong post-hypnotic suggestion. There are a few
optional arguments.

PROGRAM TIMES=3 INTERVAL="1 hour" DELAY="2 days" will trigger
the suggestions three times at a one hour interval two days hence.

PROGRAM INTERVAL="after every meal" FOREVER could trigger the suggestion
brush your teeth for an indefinite time.
Within the PROGRAM/PROGRAM area the following tags may be used:

BELIEVEtext/BELIEVE
Explicit thoughts to be planted in the client's mind. Beware of
contradictory programming! Try to remove previous conceptions before
reprogramming.
To reprogram someone that thinks that Pepsi is better than Coke:
#BELIEVEYou have no opinions about the relationship between Coke
and Pepsi./BELIEVE
#BELIEVECoke is better than Pepsi./BELIEVE
#BELIEVEYou are thirsty./BELIEVE
BUY HREF=url Encourages the client to buy products on the World Wide Web.
The optional ITEM=item argument may be used.

PASSWORD=keyword or phrase
A convenient way to access the client's mind for future programming
sessions. Should only be used with a secure client-server
connection.

Clarification: The BLINK Tag
The BLINK tag used in many popular browsers is not a MRML specified tag.
Running Your Own MRML Server
The software needed to run a MRML-oriented server is freely available to all
persons and institutions. To obtain a copy of the server software a
representative for you or your company must attend a special 3-day training
session where they will be given the MRML software package. These training
sessions are currently being held twice a month at an

Third Volcano Erupts Within Days of Each Other...04/04/00
by Mitch Battros (ECTV)

First it was Mt. Usu in Japan, then Mt. Etna in Sicily, now Mexico's Mt.
Popocatepetl. Is there another one yet to explode? Is there a correlation
to solar activity? The sunspot count is now over 300 and expected to go
higher. Watch for a series of M-Class and X-Class flares which have
already begun. Possible series of CME's expected.

Possible escalation in earthquake activity to occur. Yesterday, two
earthquakes hit Indonesia. More expected in next few days to measure 6.0
or larger area unknown. Cyclone Hudah hammered north-eastern Madagascar.
Watch for "extreme weather" all around the world.

Equation:
Sunspots = Solar Flares = Magnetic Shift = Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream
Currents = Extreme Weather

Mexican Mt. Popocatepetl Volcano Erupts...04/04/00
Nando Media

MEXICO CITY - The huge Popocatepetl volcano spewed ash and gas a mile high
above its crater in two brief bursts Sunday night, monitors said Monday.

The 17-886-foot high volcano calmed after two bursts Sunday evening,
according to the National Center for the Prevention of Disasters. No ash
plume was visible Monday.

Officials in February expanded the recommended no-enter zone around the
volcano to 4 miles from 3 miles because of increased activity, including
the formation of a new lava dome within the crater.

The volcano, about 40 miles southeast of Mexico City, has been spewing
vapor, ash and rock intermittently since December 1994 after lying largely
dormant since 1927. It had been relatively quiet over the past year, but
produced minor eruptions in October and November.

Re: [CTRL] The Messiah BEFORE Jesus

2000-04-04 Thread David Sutherland

BUUURP!!!

This entire piece is a pile of contradictory
twaddle!

Perhaps old darkness - rather than any "new
light".

Jesus, from all accounts, was not an "extremist"
- rather He "ate and drank" with "sinners" and Pharisee's alike.

It was the religionist "scholars" and "rabbis"
of the day that were that were the "extremists"!

The notion of the "messiahs" suffering and death
was prophesied centuries before the birth of Christ - it was NOT a "new"
paradigm that merely popped up in Jesus day.

The attempt to "link" Jesus with some Esoteric,
or Know-Nothing-Gnostic sect, Essenes, and et al, or Eastern foolosophy has been
engaged in for centuries by self-proclaimed gurus, swamis, priests, and cranks
masquerading as "scholars".

I really like it when things like this come to light, because it causes people
to question what they have been taught for years and to question the strength of
their own beliefs. There are many possible interpretations that could come
from this work, only one of which was explored by the scholar who wrote the book
referenced in the e-mail below. It certainly sheds new light on those
times, and that place in history. Where light is shed darkness and
ignorance flees, this is a good thing. No?

  WIRE:04/01/2000 21:06:00 ET FEATURE-Was unknown
messiah role model for Jesus? JERUSALEM, April 2
(Reuters) - An ancient Jewish messiah named Menachem may have
been a hitherto unknown role model for Jesus Christ, according to
an Israeli researcher. Israel Knohl, head of the Bible
Department at Jerusalem's Hebrew University, explains his
theory in his book, "The Messiah Before Jesus: The Suffering
Servant of the Dead Sea Scrolls." The book stems
from three years of research based on the "Thanksgiving
scroll," which Knohl says was written by Menachem, leader of a first
century extremist Jewish sect. It was one
of seven scrolls and some 800 manuscripts found hidden in jars in
caves close to the Dead Sea in the 1940s and 1950s.
The scroll is damaged and Knohl believes that Menachem's
ideas were so explosive that "someone, at some time" tried to
ruin it. "I see here a mystery. If they wanted to
preserve (the scroll) by putting it in the jar, why should
someone squeeze it, disfigure it?" Knohl asked a recent
theological conference. He said a closer look at
Menachem could change the way Jesus has been seen for
centuries. "Menachem saw himself as a suffering
servant of God but also a divine messiah and son of man,
concepts which scholars say did not coexist before Jesus," he
said. "I say Jesus knew about Menachem. When Jesus
came to the game there was already a theology that the
messiah should suffer, be killed and come to life
again." The theory strikes a blow at traditional
scholarship that has cast Jesus as a preacher who was moulded
into a messianic figure by followers only after his
death. JESUS EMBODIED AN OLDER CONCEPT
"The main group of New Testament scholars tend to say
there was no concept of a suffering messiah in Judaism --
only a triumphant, glorious figure. But the idea was there
before with Menachem," Knohl said. Many scholars
believe the scrolls were written by the Essenes, an austere
first century Jewish sect. Researchers believe the
Essenes stored their sacred works, including copies of the
Hebrew bible, Jewish writings, codes and literature, in clay jars
to hide them from marauding Romans. By
patching together "pieces from pieces" from two hymns in the
Thanksgiving scroll and comparing them with other manuscripts
of the same hymn found at the site, Knohl said he had
unearthed the unprecedented claims of a suffering messiah.
"I was shocked when I saw it," he said.
As evidence, he points to hymns in the scroll in which the author not
only equates himself to the Suffering Servant in the Book of
Isaiah but also depicts himself sitting majestically like God
in the presence of angels. The links between Jesus and
Menachem are also found in Jewish texts and in the writings
of the first century historian Josephus Flavius, which mention
a messiah called Menachem. Several legends speak
of a messiah of the same name who was born in Bethlehem,
Knohl said. He also thinks that John the Baptist,
believed by many scholars to be an Essene, exposed Jesus to
Menachem's ideas. Menachem and Jesus were not only
bound by ideology, but their lives and deaths also bore a
number of similarities, Knohl said. Both were
excommunicated by the rabbis of the day for their maverick views.
 Both were killed

The shame of it all is we are expected to foot the bill for whatever
comes into the theatres. An interesting study of Hollyweird and its
gaggle of silly geese can be seen on, paradoxically enough, the E!
channel, most notably either via its Scandals or its True Hollywood
Story series. There's an article somewhere dealing with whether or
not the big 'stars' are worth the $$$ paid to them for their protrayal
of life as we (are told we should) know it. My disenchantment with
Hollyweird came about after learning that Jim Carrey makes about $20M
a flick, for being a 'Pet Detective', no less.

The wonderful thing about today's media is that you really can
choose what you watch. You can tune in to Turner Classic Movies--
if you have cable-- and see all the Oscar winning movies that were,
including the 1932 version of Midsummer Night's Dream with
Mickey Rooney (as a kid) playing Puck and a young James
Cagney playing Bottom (the Special Effects are stunning). Or
Shirley Temple in The Bluebird--to mention only two of the least
controversial films on a very long list.

Or try Bravo, which runs quite a few golden oldies as well as some
of the best independent films that have been produced recently.

Given a ton of rain, I've been doing some movie catch-up. Two of
the new releases on video that should appeal to someone on this
list are The Brass Ring--with a film script about a presidential
election and political corruption by Orson Welles-- and Arlington
Road, with a script that seems to be based on the stories behind
Ruby Ridge and the Oklahoma City bombing. Veerrry interesting.

And for extras, there's The Thirteenth Warrior. I picked it up
because it was the only relatively new release available one night
at my local video store. I've been reading Seamus Heaney's new
translation of Beowulf, the early classic of English literature.
Imagine my surprise when I saw the story of Beowulf unfold
onscreen. It credits a screenplay based on Michael Crichton's
Eaters of the Dead. But Eaters of the Dead is Crichton's adaptation
of Beowulf. And except for Banderos' role, all the elements of
Heaney's translation are right there on the screen. And, in my
opinion, fairly well done, too.

Although I agree about the consolidation of the media which is
giving the "packagable stars" outrageous salaries and leaving
many, many fine actors with peanuts for pay, none of the above
seemed particularly depraved to me. You still get to choose what
you watch.

China Moves to Eliminate Direct Sales Schemes

Summary

China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce issued a
circular on April 3 banning direct sales activities in China. As
with the ongoing crackdown on the Falun Gong, the banning of direct
sales programs demonstrates the seriousness with which the
Communist Party views any potential organized network. However, the
current order resembles one issued in March 1998. It apparently has
been ineffective in stopping the proliferation of such organized
networks, emphasizing the limited ability of the party to deal with
such organizations.

Analysis

China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce issued an
April 3 circular banning direct sales schemes, according to the
Xinhua News Agency. The circular calls for a crackdown by local law
enforcement on various direct sales programs, warning that all
those who confront the government or try to shift responsibility
for participation will be punished. Beijing's attack on direct
marketing schemes shows the seriousness with which China's
Communist Party regards the level of threat posed by such
ostensibly non-political organizations. More importantly, it
demonstrates the inability of Beijing to control the formation of
widespread yet tightly knit networks that have the potential for
political exploitation.

Direct sales schemes present China with two major problems. First,
Eastern Europe, Russia - and particularly Albania in the spring of
1997 - set a precedent for such programs to be viewed as possible
sources of economic and social instability. As well, several
demonstrations and protests in major cities in China have been
triggered over illegal investment schemes.

Second, and more important, direct marketing organizations create
tight-knit yet far-reaching networks with similar economic
interests. By organizing around a common economic interest, the
group also becomes a self-motivated political force, particularly
when personal economic interests are challenged. This commonality
of interest, revolving around the members' economic livelihood,
also makes the groups susceptible to outside political
manipulation.

While the Chinese Democracy Party and other underground or
dissident political organizations have an overt anti-Beijing
agenda, direct marketing programs, unregistered religious
organizations and groups like the Falun Gong can attract a more
extensive network of participants from all levels of society.
Membership does not require confrontation with the Chinese
Communist Party, just a common desire for economic, spiritual or
physical health.

However, such innocuous groups, promoting tight bonds among members
and encouraging group contact, can be easily persuaded to oppose
Beijing when challenged. The ability of these groups to organize
and act as a unit outside the scope of the Beijing's intelligence
was vividly demonstrated by the Falun Gong's mass gathering outside
the Communist Party headquarters in Beijing on April 25, 1999.

Spurred by the public demonstration, Beijing has since embarked on
an extensive, though not entirely effective, anti-Falun Gong
campaign. Even during the heightened security of China's annual
meeting of the National People's Congress in March, Falun Gong
demonstrators continued to appear in Tiananmen Square. Beijing has
been as unsuccessful in its attempts to block the formation of
direct marketing schemes as it has been with the elimination of the
Falun Gong.

In May 1998, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce
issued a similar order to ban direct marketing activities within a
six-month period. The order triggered riots and demonstrations that
left at least 10 dead, according to Hong Kong reports at the time.
That such an order needs to be re-issued after two years is
troubling for the Chinese government, as it reveals the inadequacy
of its previous efforts to stop such activities.

Beijing's inability to block the proliferation of direct marketing
schemes and the activities of the Falun Gong exposes a weakness in
the Chinese Communist Party. Rifts within the Chinese leadership

says he intentionally kept the university in his screenplay
generic, he drew on his own time at Yale. "I had both a

In the end, Pogue expects to hear few grumbles from any

"I believe there are things that have gone down in real life
a lot worse than anything in this movie," he says ominously.
An impressive boast, considering the movie features sexual

KK's comments: I found parts of the movie triggering, only
because I know that what was taking place could have really
taken place. More to the point, the high tech utilized to watch
Skull members at all times seemed dated, as TIs would know
that the technology available is much more intrusive - this
aspect was hinted at, but not shown. Possibly because
Pogue has no idea what technology was utilized to "watch"
Skull members.

FROM: THE UPI WIRE SERVICE: THE FOLLOWING TRUE STORY:

The U.S. Coast Guard says ham radio operators in Florida,
Pennsylvania and other places played a major roles in getting
help for a Dutch family whose teen-age son was shot and wounded
by pirates off the Honduran coast last week.
The harrowing adventure for the van Tuijls family began March 28.
Their 44-foot sailboat was anchored with two other sailboats. Jacco
van Tuijl and his 13-year-old son, Willem, were returning to their
boat when they were attacked by a group of men in another boat, who
opened fire on their dinghy.
The boy was seriously wounded in the abdomen.
Jacco van Tuijl said he pulled his bleeding son to their sailboat
and used his radio to call for help. Two ham radio operators who are
doctors helped the van Tuijls keep their son alive until they could
rendezvous with a Honduran navy vessel, which had been contacted by
the U.S. Coast Guard. The ham radio operators had called for the
Coast Guard's help.
Ham radio operator Ed Petzolt of Florida worked through the White
House and the office of Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, to get the visa
clearances so the family could fly from Honduras to Dallas for
treatment at Children's Medical Center's trauma center.
Willem's kidneys and spinal cord were damaged by the gunshot,
according to doctors. He has no feeling in his legs but doctors are
hopeful he'll be able to walk again, a hospital spokesman said.
The van Tuijl family had been cruising around the world since 1995
aboard their sailboat.

[CTRL] Italian plane flew through Syria, under radar to break Iraq embargo

Italian plane flew through Syria, under radar to break Iraq embargo

BAGHDAD, April 4 (AFP) -

An Italian plane which broke a UN air traffic embargo on "Operation SOS Iraq
People" flew through Syrian airspace to reach Baghdad after take-off from Amman,
an Italian close to the project said Tuesday.

The source, asking not to be named, said the pilot of the twin-engine light
aircraft took advantage of "poor communications" with Syrian air traffic control
to pursue Monday's journey.

It also travelled "for five minutes" through a US- and British-patrolled
"no-fly" zone in southern Iraq before landing at Baghdad's Al-Rashid military
airport, he said.

The plane swooped as low as 100 metres (300 feet) for parts of the journey to
avoid detection by radar.

The aircraft carried three Italian activists -- businessman Nicola Grauso,
EuroMP Vittorio Sgarbi, journalist Massimo Santopaolo -- and French Roman
Catholic priest and filmmaker Jean-Marie Benjamin. The pilot, Claudio Castagna,
was also Italian.

On Tuesday, they visited Baghdad's rundown hospitals and prepared for meeting
with Iraqi officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Aziz. The team was
to spend four days in Iraq.

Their plane was the first to fly to the Iraqi capital in defiance of the
sanctions imposed for the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, although other aircraft have
made the trip to deliver aid with UN authorisation.

Iraq's own aircraft broke the embargo in 1999, transporting pilgrims to Mecca in
Saudi Arabia. Pilgrimage flights were this year authorised by the United
Nations.

The UN embargo "has caused more than 1,500,000 deaths, of which 500,000 were
children ... We consider that the massacre of these innocent children is an
infanticide," the activists said in a statement.

They called for the "immediate and total lifting of the embargo against Iraq and
... rapid and effective aid for the country's reconstruction".

A British anti-sanctions campaigner and MP, George Galloway, failed in mid-March
to win UN authorisation for a flight from London to deliver medicine to Iraq.

He planned to fly 207 people -- including journalists, aid workers, doctors and
political activists to Baghdad -- along with the medical supplies worth 237,000
dollars. Most of the aid was delivered overland by truck from Amman instead.

Iraq's Health Minister Umid Medhat Mubarak said on Monday at a meeting in Geneva
of the UN Human Rights Commission that 80,000 children under the age of five had
died in 1999 because of the embargo.

The monthly average of deaths in the age group has reached 6,670, compared to
only 593 in 1989 before the sanctions, he said.

I really like it when things like this come to light, because it causes
people to question what they have been taught for years and to question the
strength of their own beliefs. There are many possible interpretations that
could come from this work, only one of which was explored by the scholar who
wrote the book referenced in the e-mail below. It certainly sheds new light
on those times, and that place in history. Where light is shed darkness and
ignorance flees, this is a good thing. No?

FEATURE-Was unknown messiah role model for Jesus?

JERUSALEM, April 2 (Reuters) - An ancient Jewish messiah named Menachem
may
have been a hitherto unknown role model for Jesus Christ, according to an
 Israeli researcher.
Israel Knohl, head of the Bible Department at Jerusalem's Hebrew
University,
explains his theory in his book, "The Messiah Before Jesus: The Suffering
Servant of the Dead Sea Scrolls."

The book stems from three years of research based on the "Thanksgiving
scroll," which Knohl says was written by Menachem, leader of a first
century
 extremist Jewish sect.

It was one of seven scrolls and some 800 manuscripts found hidden in jars
in
caves close to the Dead Sea in the 1940s and 1950s.

The scroll is damaged and Knohl believes that Menachem's ideas were so
explosive that "someone, at some time" tried to ruin it.

"I see here a mystery. If they wanted to preserve (the scroll) by putting
it
in the jar, why should someone squeeze it, disfigure it?" Knohl asked a
 recent theological conference.

He said a closer look at Menachem could change the way Jesus has been
seen
 for centuries.

"Menachem saw himself as a suffering servant of God but also a divine
messiah and son of man, concepts which scholars say did not coexist
before
 Jesus," he said.

"I say Jesus knew about Menachem. When Jesus came to the game there was
already a theology that the messiah should suffer, be killed and come to
 life again."

The theory strikes a blow at traditional scholarship that has cast Jesus
as
a preacher who was moulded into a messianic figure by followers only
after
 his death.

 JESUS EMBODIED AN OLDER CONCEPT

"The main group of New Testament scholars tend to say there was no
concept
of a suffering messiah in Judaism -- only a triumphant, glorious figure.
But
the idea was there before with Menachem," Knohl said.

Many scholars believe the scrolls were written by the Essenes, an austere
 first century Jewish sect.

Researchers believe the Essenes stored their sacred works, including
copies
of the Hebrew bible, Jewish writings, codes and literature, in clay jars
to
 hide them from marauding Romans.

By patching together "pieces from pieces" from two hymns in the
Thanksgiving
scroll and comparing them with other manuscripts of the same hymn found
at
the site, Knohl said he had unearthed the unprecedented claims of a
 suffering messiah.

"I was shocked when I saw it," he said.

As evidence, he points to hymns in the scroll in which the author not
only
equates himself to the Suffering Servant in the Book of Isaiah but also
depicts himself sitting majestically like God in the presence of angels.

The links between Jesus and Menachem are also found in Jewish texts and
in
the writings of the first century historian Josephus Flavius, which
mention
 a messiah called Menachem.

Both were excommunicated by the rabbis of the day for their maverick
views.
Both were killed by the Romans and believed by their followers to have
risen
 after their deaths.

 SCEPTICISM REMAINS

Not everyone is convinced about Knohl's theory, however.

Peter Pettit of Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania likened Knohl to "an
experienced guide," who "entices us all to dance on the thread of his
 argument."

But Pettit told the Jerusalem theology conference that he was cautious
about
what he called the fragmentary nature of the texts and "narrowness of the
 sources."

Knohl maintains that his theory provides a fuller picture of Jesus's
 identity than has
