I'd have to agree that there is no way that such a thing as numinous experience can be
proven objectively, but would also agree that if it does exist (and I don't rule it
out completely) it would exist alongside of the non-spiritual world, for it would have
to.

Tracing the Synapses of Our Spirituality
Researchers Examine Relationship Between Brain and Religion

 By Shankar Vedantam
 Washington Post Staff Writer

 Sunday, June 17, 2001; Page A01

In Philadelphia, a researcher discovers areas of the brain that are activated
during meditation. At two other universities in San Diego and North Carolina,
doctors study how epilepsy and certain hallucinogenic drugs can produce
religious epiphanies. And in Canada, a neuroscientist fits people with
magnetized helmets that produce spiritual experiences for the secular.

The work is part of a broad effort by scientists around the world to better
understand religious experiences, measure them, and even reproduce them.
Using powerful brain imaging technology, researchers are exploring what
mystics call nirvana, and what Christians describe as a state of grace.
Scientists are asking whether spirituality can be explained in terms of
neural networks, neurotransmitters and brain chemistry.

What creates that transcendental feeling of being one with the universe? It
could be the decreased activity in the brain's parietal lobe, which helps
regulate the sense of self and physical orientation, research suggests. How
does religion prompt divine feelings of love and compassion? Possibly because
of changes in the frontal lobe, caused by heightened concentration during
meditation. Why do many people have a profound sense that religion has
changed their lives? Perhaps because spiritual practices activate the
temporal lobe, which weights experiences with personal significance.

The brain is set up in such a way as to have spiritual experiences and
religious experiences, said Andrew Newberg, a Philadelphia scientist who
wrote the book Why God Won't Go Away. Unless there is a fundamental change
in the brain, religion and spirituality will be here for a very long time.
The brain is predisposed to having those experiences and that is why so many
 people believe in God.

The research may represent the bravest frontier of brain research. But
depending on your religious beliefs, it may also be the last straw. For while
Newberg and other scientists say they are trying to bridge the gap between
science and religion, many believers are offended by the notion that God is a
creation of the human brain, rather than the other way around.

It reinforces atheistic assumptions and makes religion appear useless, said
Nancey Murphy, a professor of Christian philosophy at Fuller Theological
Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. If you can explain religious experience purely
as a brain phenomenon, you don't need the assumption of the existence of God.

Some scientists readily say the research proves there is no such thing as
God. But many others argue that they are religious themselves, and that they
are simply trying to understand how our minds produce a sense of spirituality.

Newberg, who was catapulted to center stage of the neuroscience-religion
debate by his book and some recent experiments he conducted at the University
of Pennsylvania with co-researcher Eugene D'Aquili, says he has a sense of
his own spirituality, though he declined to say whether he believes in God,
because any answer would prompt people to question his agenda. I'm really
not trying to use science to prove that God exists or disprove God exists,
 he said.

Newberg's experiment consisted of taking brain scans of Tibetan Buddhist
meditators as they sat immersed in contemplation. After giving them time to
sink into a deep meditative trance, he injected them with a radioactive dye.
Patterns of the dye's residues in the brain were later converted into images.

Newberg found that certain areas of the brain were altered during deep
meditation. Predictably, these included areas in the front of the brain that
are involved in concentration. But Newberg also found decreased activity in
the parietal lobe, one of the parts of the brain that helps orient a person
 in three-dimensional space.

When people have spiritual experiences they feel they become one with the
universe and lose their sense of self, he said. We think that may be
because of what is happening in that area -- if you block that area you lose
that boundary between the self and the rest of the world. In doing so you
ultimately wind up in a universal state.

Across the country, at the University of California in San Diego, other
neuroscientists are studying why religious experiences seem to accompany
epileptic seizures in some patients. At Duke University, psychiatrist Roy
Mathew is studying hallucinogenic drugs that can produce mystical experiences
and have long been used in certain religious traditions.

Thanks for the posting Nicky.

I've read about the PGA before in Jeremy Lee's books. He saw them as
something sinister. I must admit that while I have grave reservations about
their scheme and certainly have a bone to pick with them for abusing the
trust of their constituents by embarking on this sort of altruistic
power-trip without making it an open part of their platform, I very much
doubt it will come to anything. In part it reflects their own naive idealism,
but also the reality that their power as politicians is becoming increasingly
circumscribed by global economic integration. It's attempt to claw something
back at a global level. I doubt it will succeed.

The "Resistance" you speak of sounds intriguing and I'd certainly appreciate
some more info.

Hello BD,

The Committee of 12 to Save the World are the most powerful resistance

opposed to the NWO. I can't stake my life on this but possibly Jim Keith

building inch by inch incorporating the mainstream Christian religions
is being exposed by her. This is brought about with instructions from

The Parliamentarians for Global Action are current politicians
(including our NZ Prime Minister and deputy) who want
a piece of the pie when the world gets subtly swallowed up in this.

Every year they have World Constitution Assemblies. These go under the
name of Global Ratification and Elections Network, which includes
several hundred organizations, to promote ratification of Constitution

are 400 organizations in 75 countries with 15 million individual

I aquired this last week, when my next door neighbour was at the Colour

brought him home to meet me and he had a copy on him. After looking at
it carefully I don't think we'll be able to get out of this one. Its
happening right before our eyes and I never noticed.Anyone else notice?
Its like an inevitable fate noone can escape. The world is doomed

lol, Andy...
You are the one who DID mention green cheese in your previous post to the
one answered.

The only thing that I am going to say is that I do not believe the Bible
100% as it is written in English because Hebrew, Chaldean and Greek reveal
almost a whole different picture than what you get from many of the
modernday folklore Bible teachers. I am not going to waste my time either,
because I have nothing to convince you of. You seem to already know it all.
However, if you are ever interested in learning the Bible, to make a
proper and true assessment, it doesn't matter what I have to say, you have
to learn it and experience it on your own.

I would never tell a child that if you don't do this thus and so, they are
going to burn in hell forever... because that is a lie. Whoever has told
you that one has lied and I would agree to a certain point with you on your
assessment. But you are like all other athiest and agnostics... you want
to lump all religion into one category, and one belief system. Sorry,
that's just not the way it is. Although technically, when it boils down to
the bottom line, and eventually all will know, there is but one absolute,
and one truth.

You've said you're not going to waste your time? Don't worry, I won't
waste yours, because this forum is not the place to waste my time on this
subject. IF you care to learn more about some subjects you're welcome to
visit my websites. And I still will not try to convince you that you should
believe this way or that way. The information is there strictly for your
consideration. If you believe the Bible references given, fine. If you
don't, fine, too. However, regardless, it's your choice as to what you
believe. I'm not here to convince you that there is or isn't a God, or
that the Bible is or isn't true. I've only expressed my own opinion... and
YES, I believe in God, and that the Bible in it's original languages is
true, and it is from experience.

I think that I narrowed that wide-open category down just a bit when I
included my definition of believers in the very sentence that I used the
word Believers: Someone who believes that the bible was written by
God
and that it's 100 % true from cover to cover. lolI never mentioned
gravity, or a moon made of cheese.

No brain washing?!? Telling a child that not believing in God will result
in
burning in hell forever,...I'm not even going to waste my time typing all
the instances of brainwashing that goes on in Sunday school with songs,
chants and other techniques, it should be completely obvious that many
children have no choice but to become a Christian because that's what
their
 parents are.

Faith, to me is not healthy. Faith is accepting ignorance, you have used
the word "experienced" 3 or 4 times in you post, have you had a true
religious experience? I have and I can tell you that it had nothing to do
with faith, it was the opposite of faith. Does your religion rely on
faith
rather than experience? Dogma and creeds are not my cup of tea. I have no
need for faith, it is the psychedelic experience itself that takes one
past
faith to the natural unity and integrity of the universe, showing us our
Selves as integral parts of the whole; that reveals to us the infinite
splendor of our universe, and the overlooked miracle that is common
consciousness. Any religion that requires faith and gives none, that
defends
against religious experiences, that gives credence to some bizarre
superstition that humankind is in some way separate, divorced from the
rest
of creation, one that does not bridge the gap between the Mind, Body and
Soul, is no religion at all!

You stated that I have just found something to disagree with and that I
just
want to thump the thumpers, but you are the one that went off ranting
about
green cheese and gravity...I'm not giving this post any more of my time.

My problem with the "if you do that, you'll go to hell" scenario is
that it makes one's salvation dependent upon "good works." And people
use that as rationalization for just about anything. "I can do
whatever, because I can make it up doing 'good works'." Many people
also use the salvation by faith scenario to justify doing all kinds of
bad things: "I can sin all I want to; God will forgive me." Both are
sheer hypocrisy. If one truly has faith, then from that faith flows the
desire to do good. You're not doing it in anticipation of the reward
either now or later, but because the faith inspires you to serve, and
to give.

Well one last word before I give up. There is a big grey area between
many Christians who know nothing about the occult/ufos/mind control etc
and those Christians who do know whats really going on. Lets just put
these in the category of 'aware' Christian resistance. OK

Then there are the people who are not Christians who know nothing about
Christianity and are still living in the past, thinking 'Christians' are
ruled by some primal urge to divide life into that of the devil and that
of God and don't actually use any rationality. Wrong. The last 5 years
has produced many people who can combine faith with intellect/research
of the NWO and they do have something worth listening to to add to the
power of the resistance.

Sorry Eagle you are so far off the mark! So we can't fit you in the
'aware' Christian category sorry.

No I didn't consider that. But aside from snakes, think about this - Horus
from Egypt (was prophesized to be great, born of a virgin on Dec. 25,
taught
in a temple at the age of 12, had 12 deciples, was slain on a cross
between
2 thieves, often represented with a triangle...), Quentalocatl of Mexico
(was prophesized to be great, born of a virgin, was tempted and fasted for
40 days, was slain in atonement for primal sin, often represented as the
trinity and signified by 3 crosses, his second coming is confidently
expected...) and the list goes on to Beddru from Japan and like I said
before, there are dozens of characters through out time that share
strikingly similar qualities. So what happened in Ancient Sumer that
spawned
this global myth of a hero? And why is Christianity so widely believed to
be true (in this country)? There's your conspiracy my friend: highly
educated people, grown adults in the year 2000 believe with all their
heart
that the miracles and impossibilities in the bible actually could have
happened. Most would rather burn in hell for eternity rather than say that
they don't believe. I don't care if these prescientific minds believed
thunder was a god and snakes can sneak up and bite you, sometimes causing
death...maybe that's why they are "evil". But in the information age there
are 100,000 new Christians each day. What's the deal? These are
"believers"
that blindly believe that the bible was written by God and it is 100% true
from cover to cover. Talking logic to these people is impossible.

Mind control? Brainwashing? You tell me, because I still believe in
Santa...

Blue Honey, have you considered the geographical proximity of the
religions
you cite which regard the snake as evil, and that these seemingly
disparate
religions are in fact variations on a much older theme from a single
source
within the same area which is Ancient Sumer...

 Everyone believes in something.

I believe in doubt. I've counted the times I believed and it turned out it
was the right thing to do and I counted the times I doubted and that
turned out to be the right thing to do. Doubt wins hands down.

Well Andy,

The drawback of the psychedelic 'we are one/divine/there is no
separation' experience is it only lasts for the duration of the high.
You have only opened one of the top chakras artificially, by the drug
burning holes in the barrier which separates this reality from a
higher. You are only getting a glimpse into the unknown territory, which
entry is earned by those who follow the rules as laid out in the
Bible.eg save your kundalini. Take too many drugs and you won't be able
to tell the difference between the multiple realities existing in the
universe.

I think the Bible is interpreted with different states of consciousness
according to how much a person can digest of deeper experiences
according to need. Others see ETs everywhere. Some interpret it
symbolically because they can't yet grasp it inspirationally. Focusing
on the hell part is an inability to see the reason why God would want to
create 12 races to develop differing paths of mankind to evolve. If you
read Josephus [approx 70AD] he said each of the 12 tribes represented
one sign of the Zodiac.

At the end of the Bible in Revelation Ch 7:3 it says 12,000 of each
tribe will have the seal of God on their forheads. Obviously God has a
plan to ensure survival of the human body of those who have the right
DNA to start again in the next dimension. The light in the forehead
would be indicative of the presence of the higher ethers necessary to
change dimension. At present the so called 6th Aryan race would like to
accomplish this feat technologically,{see the post of 2 days ago [US
Military fake rapture and genocide -Important, sent 4th March] but
those descendants of the Nordic Pleiadians dip out here, unless they
have interbred with the tribe of Benjamin who migrated to Scandanavia.

Why worry about hell after death, it's hell during life you need to
avoid, when the hoards of hell in their underground bases in US will be
emerging in unison with the UN foreign troops to round up the
population. It's pretty obvious that all of are being categorised by the
Ets, for evacuation purposes. I believe millions will be transported off
the planet to be put back later to return to an earth that has changed
position in space.

The Ets know this from their time machines and can take who they want
if they are not claimed by Jesus' army. Will one come back or not this
is the real worry? Have you not heard of the fluoresent marks people
have returned with after ET abduction. Psychedelic revelations won't
save you, I think it is a matter of fitting into the right category by
unseen hands. We decide nothing! We are not 'all one' we are DNA
categorised by those who run the solar system, and decide who gets born
in what family.

splendor of our universe, and the overlooked miracle that is common
consciousness. Any religion that requires faith and gives none, that defends
against religious experiences, that gives credence to some bizarre
superstition that humankind is in some way separate, divorced from the rest

Soul, is no religion at all!

Please define "believers"... that is a wide-open category.

Not really Eagle 1. It's pretty well understood why certain people
choose to " believe " as opposed to actually think. It's not a good
reason, and it's not worthy of respect.

For those believers with guts, check out the book below.

Joshua2

BELIEF AND MAKE-BELIEVE
by G. A. Wells

Why do so many people - sometimes even intelligent people - swallow
the
preposterous claims of religion? G.A. Wells, the leading freethinker
of
our time, tries to shed light on this puzzle in his entertaining and
enormously learned book, Belief and Make-Believe.

Professor Wells begins by analyzing the nature of belief. To dispel
popular confusions on the relation between words and thoughts, he
compares
the thinking processes of scientists, laymen, and chimpanzees.

The power of emotion and instinct to help form people's ideological
outlooks is analyzed by reference to "defiance" and "reliance", polar
attitudes which arise from the need for dominance and submission in
primate groups. Wells shows the influence of defiance and reliance
in patriotism and in monotheistic religions, where submission to the
will
of the omnipotent is a wonderful technique for feeling secure in the
face
of life's actual and ineradicable dangers.

Since all knowledgeable Christians now accept that the Bible is
uneven,
unreliable, and sometimes morally abhorrent, and that the New
Testament
account of the origin of Christianity is mostly legend, various
attempts
have been made to save something from the debris by selective
re-interpretation. Wells evaluates several typical examples, showing
how
the apologists shrink from the clear implications of their arguments,
which
would demolish the whole edifice of Christian doctrine.

Finally, Professor Wells debunks some of the extravagant and
mystical
claims that have been made for the arts, notably poetry, as
quasi-religious
vehicles for gaining insights into the human condition.

George Wells is professor emeritus of German in the
University of London. Re is a leading authority on both
German intellectual history and the origins of Christiani-
ty. His books include Goethe and the Development of
Science, The Origin of language, Religious Postures, and
Who Was Jesus?

 Everyone
believes in something. You must believe in gravity, and believe in it
blindly... because it can only be understood in theory.

Ridiculous. There are NO CONSEQUENCES to believing or not believing in
gravity. Belief is irrelevant because it is real and operates upon us
whether we know it exists or not. God, on the other hand has no
existence
outside the " belief " of humans. It is ONLY through belief that god
exists.

 It cannot be
physically examined, but it certainly can be experienced, and I'm sure you
"believe" in it's reality and its effects. :)

Don't knock it, 'til you try it, honey...
For example, If you want to believe that the moon is made of green
cheese... and is served best with ranch dressing, and if you also believe
you've tasted it and experienced it... and you think it's the greatest
thing since sliced bread, it would be impossible to talk logic with you
 either.

You got that right. And what you are describing here is a form of
insanity
based on an aversion to reality for whatever reason.
Usually simple cowardice.

People who believe the Bible was written by God, and those whom you call
impossible to talk logic, more than likely have had a life changing
experience that has convinced them that the Bible is true.

There is no brainwashing or mind control. It's called FAITH. A very
 healthy human attribute.

WOW!
What a whopper! Faith ONLY exists through brainwashing and mind
control.
ONLY!
Faith is nothing more than self delusion. There is nothing healthy
about it.
Not only does faith cause you to believe in the utterly ridiculous,
like
biologically impossible virgin births and even more absurd
resurrections from
the dead, it makes the believer a carrier of mental illness which is
passed to
large numbers of people orally.

It then spreads to entire populations and induces mass insanity where
even
the same ethnic groups start killing each other over religiously
induced hal-
ucinations. One need merely cite Ireland, Yugoslavia, Nigeria, and
Sudan.

Sounds to me that you've just found something in life and the social culture
to disagree with and you just want to thump the thumpers. (I actually
don't blame you to some degree)... But, If you haven't experienced it,

A bit of humor on the same subject:

Kissing Hank's Ass
by Jim Huber

This morning there was a knock at my door. When I answered the door I found
a well-groomed, nicely dressed couple. The man spoke first:

John: "Hi! I'm John and this is Mary."
Mary: "Hi! We're here to invite you to come kiss Hank's ass with us."
Me: "Pardon me?! What are you talking about? Who's Hank, and why would I
want to kiss his ass?"
John: "If you kiss Hank's ass, he'll give you a million dollars; and if you
don't, he'll kick the shit out of you."
Me: "What? Is this some kind of bizarre mob shake-down?"
John: "Hank is a billionaire philanthropist. Hank built this town. Hank owns
this town. He can do anything he wants, and what he wants is to give you a
million dollars, but he can't until you kiss his ass."
Me: "That doesn't make any sense. Why..."
Mary: "Who are you to question Hank's gift? Don't you want a million
dollars? Isn't it worth a little kiss on the ass?"
Me: "Well maybe, if it's legit, but..."
John: "Then come kiss Hank's ass with us."
Me: "Do you kiss Hank's ass often?"
Mary: "Oh yes, all the time..."
Me: "And has he given you a million dollars?"
John: "Well no, you don't actually get the money until you leave town."
Me: "So why don't you just leave town now?"
Mary: "You can't leave until Hank tells you to, or you don't get the money
and he kicks the shit out of you."
Me: "Do you know anyone who kissed Hank's ass, left town, and got the
million dollars?"
John: "My mother kissed Hank's ass for years. She left town last year, and
I'm sure she got the money."
Me: "Haven't you talked to her since then?"
John: "Of course not, Hank doesn't allow it."
Me: "So what makes you think he'll actually give you the money if you've
never talked to anyone who got the money?"
Mary: "Well, he gives you a little bit before you leave. Maybe you'll get a
raise, maybe you'll win a small lotto, maybe you'll just find a twenty
dollar bill on the street."
Me: "What's that got to do with Hank?"
John: "Hank has certain 'connections'."
Me: "I'm sorry, but this sounds like some sort of bizarre con game."
John: "But it's a million dollars, can you really take the chance? And
remember, if you don't kiss Hank's ass he'll kick the shit out of you."
Me: "Maybe if I could see Hank, talk to him, get the details straight from
him..."
John: "No one sees Hank, no one talks to Hank."
Me: "Then how do you kiss his ass?"
John: "Sometimes we just blow him a kiss, and think of his ass. Other times
we kiss Karl's ass, and he passes it on."
Me: "Who's Karl?"
Mary: "A friend of ours. He's the one who taught us all about kissing Hank's
ass. All we had to do is take him out to dinner a few times."
Me: "And you just took his word for it when he said there was a Hank, that
Hank wanted you to kiss his ass, and that Hank would reward you?"
John: "Oh no! Karl's got a letter Hank sent him years ago explaining the
whole thing. Here's a copy; see for yourself."

From the desk of Karl
Kiss Hank's ass and he'll give you a million dollars when you leave town.
Drink only in moderation.
Kick the shit out of people who aren't like you.
Eat right.
Hank dictated this list himself.
The Moon is made of green cheese.
Everything Hank says is right.
Wash your hands after going to the bathroom.
Don't use alcohol.
Eat your wieners on buns, no condiments.
Kiss Hank's ass or he'll kick the shit out of you.

Me: "This would appear to be written on Karl's letterhead."
Mary: "Hank didn't have any paper."
Me: "I have a hunch that if we checked, we'd find this is Karl's
handwriting."
John: "Of course, Hank dictated it."
Me: "I thought you said no one gets to see Hank?"
Mary: "Not now, but years ago he would talk to some people."
Me: "I thought you said Hank was a philanthropist. What sort of
philanthropist kicks the shit out of people just because they're different?"
Mary: "It's what Hank wants, and Hank's always right."
Me: "How do you figure that?"
Mary: "Item 7 says 'Everything Hank says is right.' That's good enough for
me!"
Me: "Maybe your friend Karl just made the whole thing up."
John: "No way! Item 5 says 'Hank dictated this list himself.' Besides, item
2 says 'Drink in moderation,' item 4 says 'Eat right,' and item 8 says 'Wash
your hands after going to the bathroom.' Everyone knows those things are
right, so the rest must be true, too."
Me: "But 9 says 'Don't use alcohol,' which doesn't quite go with item 2, and
6 says 'The Moon is made of green cheese,' which is just plain wrong."
John: "There's no contradiction between 9 and 2, 9 just clarifies 2. As far
as 6 goes, you've never been to the Moon, so you can't say for sure."
Me: "Scientists have pretty firmly established that the Moon is made of
rock..."
Mary: "But they don't know if the rock came from the Earth, or from out of
space, so it could just as easily be green cheese."
Me: "I'm not

I'm currently reading the book "The Christ Conspiracy", which
digs *really* deep into the above insights. Extremely fascinating
reading. The authors website is http://www.truthbeknown.com/,
but her book contains 10x the information.

Another interesting conspiracy theory on the origin of religion,
which is pretty hard to swallow, but worth considering
nonetheless, is found in the books:

"..."The Axe was God", "The Rod Was Mercury" and "Thirty-Thousand
Gods before Jehovah", all authored by the same person. I think
these books were originally published in the 1930's or 40's. The
premise of these books, which must be taken into consideration
when reading this section, is that there was a worldwide
"PRIESTHOOD" that existed before the dawn of Christianity and it
was these "Thirty-thousand" or so HIGH Priests which ruled the
world from the hilltops among scattered Islands and mainlands.
They possessed maps which allowed them to send pirate crews of
Lower Priests through the seas to the different lands to convince
the people of the "Reality" of the various Gods which ruled the
people. Very Much like "Zardoz". These Gods and lower priests
alone knew the different languages and taught each of them to the
different peoples. No one area of people were allowed to know the
language of the other tribes or groups of people. The Gate which
one could not pass was the "Babylon" or "Gate of the Gods", where
one would be severely punished If trespassed. This kept the
people from sharing information and figuring out what was really
going on. This was also the "Garden of Eden" where the gods
presided. Only the "Gods" knew of the powers of "Fire" and
gunpowder and could cause great disturbances which made the
people fear the repercussions and deliver to the "Gods" Gold,
jewels, and various sacrifices including humans. The Rod of
Mercury was carried by the Lower Priest, hereafter referred to as
just the "Priests", which were one rank lower than the "Gods",
the highest priests. This Caudaceas would allow them to pass
unharmed into the different areas to administer limited
information to the King of the Peoples. (The King was under the
Priests). If one tribe got out of line, then "Jehovah" would
unleash his wrath by sending an army from "Baal's" land to
destroy some of "Jehovah's" people, by sending a Priest to
"Baal's" land and informing them that there was an army planning
an invasion over to the North or something. That they must attack
them and kill them etc. When this happened, the remaining people
would be frightened and say, "Well, I guess we should have
listened to Jehovah, he was right, look at how he was able to
destroy us like that".

Two Tribes

Consider two different isolated tribes somewhere in the
jungles of South America. Call them Tribe 1 and Tribe 2.
Each has its unique language with its own structure. The
language of Tribe 1 (Language 1) tends to be very literal. A
man who fishes, for example, is called "man-who-fishes." The
same man, while sleeping, is called "man-who-sleeps"; while
talking, "man-who-talks"; while running, "man-who-runs";
while eating, man-who-eats"; while writing,
"man-who-writes"; while making a chair,
"man-who-makes-chair"; while giving orders,
"man-who-gives-orders"; etc. In Language 1, distinctions are
made between different kinds of words: "Thing-words,"
"Do-words," "How-words," "Story-words," "Funny-words,"
"Order-words," "Panic-words," "What-words," "Who-words,"
"Why-words," "When-words," "Where-words," etc. High-level
abstractions are rare in language 1. To the people of Tribe
1, any word that doesn't refer to something physically
perceivable, is highly suspect. Their test for reality is
physical.

The language of Tribe 2 (Language 2) is very different. A
man who obtains his wherewithal mostly by fishing, is called
"fisherman." (This system of nomenclature would seem absurd
to the people of Tribe 1 -- how can you call someone a
"fisherman" when he is not fishing, but sleeping?) Language
2 contains many high-level abstractions -- like "happiness."
People from Tribe 2 can talk for hours about "happiness."
(To someone from Tribe 1, this would be incomprehensible --
they only talk about "woman-who-is-happy" while she is
happy, and "woman-who-is-sad" while she is sad. The notion
that you could separate "happiness" from a real person being
happy, and talk about "happiness" as if it existed by
itself, would be completely unthinkable to someone from
Tribe 1.)

To the people from Tribe 2, any word being used is
automatically assumed to be part of existence, otherwise
people wouldn't use it. (To someone from Tribe 1, the word
"existence" would be a meaningless absurdity, because in
their mentality only particular objects exist.) In Tribe 2,
the test for reality is agreement. If other people agree
with a word and the way it seems to be used, then that word
is automatically accepted as valid and useful.

One day a strange man arrives at the place where the people
of Tribe 1 live. They ask him: "Who you?" He: "I King."
They: "Your name King?" He: "No; my name John." They: "Why
call self King if name John?" He: "I special person, agent
of God." They: "You look different but not special; who
God?" He: "God creator of world." They: "Where God?; How
create world?" He: "God everywhere; God all-powerful." They:
"How we see God?" He: "Can't see God." They: "You speak
crazy." He: "No; I special; I show you." Whereupon the
stranger performs various tricks like apparently making
objects appear and disappear. They: "You clever
man-who-tricks." He: "I special; I King." They: "You speak
funny; you clever John-who-tricks." He: "I King; my word
law." They: "What law? -- special word?" He: "Yes; my word
law -- you must obey." They: "Ah! You mean order-word!" He:
"Yes; I King; I make law." They: "No; you speak order-word?"
He: "Yes; I special." They: "What special? -- Anybody speak
order-word?" He: "You not understand." They: "No."

Eventually John-the-stranger gives up trying to convince the
people of Tribe 1 that he has a "special status" and that
his words are different from the words of anyone else -- so
he leaves, to search for more gullible and impressionable
victims elsewhere...

For many days and nights he trudges through the jungle
before discovering the people of Tribe 2. They: "Who you?"
He: "I King." They: "Your name King?" He: "No, my name
John." They: "Why call self King if name John?" He: "I
special person, agent of God." They: "You look different;
what God?" He: "God creator of world." They: Where God?; How
create world?" He "God everywhere; God all-powerful." They:
"Show special?" Whereupon the stranger performs various
tricks like apparently making objects appear and disappear.
They: "You King, agent of God." He: "Yes, my word law."
They: "What law?" He: "Law special word of God through me;
you must obey."

2 thieves, often represented with a triangle...), Quentalocatl of Mexico
(was prophesized to be great, born of a virgin, was tempted and fasted for
40 days, was slain in atonement for primal sin, often represented as the

expected...) and the list goes on to Beddru from Japan and like I said
before, there are dozens of characters through out time that share
 strikingly similar qualities.

John Allegro has authored one of the most interesting books in the world
on the origins and sources of religion. It is called "The Sacred Mushroom
and the Cross" and was published in 1970. Allegro was one of a team of
researchers hired by the State of Israel and the British government to
decipher the "Dead Sea Scrolls" when they were discovered in the 1950's.
Allegro was hired because he was a biblical scholar and was familiar with
ALMOST EVERY SINGLE MAJOR LANGUAGE including SUMERIAN, EGYPTIAN, HEBREW,
CUNIEFORM. His ultimate conclusion (and he was kicked off the team for his
opinions) was that Jesus was a Mushroom consumed by the Essenes and covered
up to keep the Roman authorities in the dark about the fertility cult of
the Essenes.

Allegro claims that the ancient people considered the rain similar to
God's sperm in that it would fertilize the soil (of Mother Earth) and allow
the crops to grow. If the rain was a source of "Heavenly Sperm" then there
must be a giant Penis in the sky producing this "Heavenly Sperm", assumed
the ancients. Well, after the rain, the mushroom would grow, allowing them
to "Talk to God" and the mushroom looked like a miniature Penis growing up
from the ground. This, allegro adds, was to them the "Son of God come down
in the flesh to show the way to himself". For a detailed analysis of the
book Click Here to goto the Catalog Intro.

These were indeed the mysteries and only the appropriate priest / shamen
knew the exact amounts to take and how to prepare it without dying from
overingestion of the poisons. That's why, today, the business of
pharmaceuticals and the secret societies are intertwined.

A fine depiction of a mushroom disc separated from Stem.
The phallic symbolism is most obvious (with the nymphs
worshiping). The disc is the cap of the Mushroom or
female part. The place the phallus joins the cap is called
the Vulva (in Mycological terms). The Nymphs are
worshiping the phallus by dancing in an enticing way to
provoke the phallus to join them (the Female disc) in the holy
act of creation. An incredible imagery, The hope being, the
Phallus joining the cap to form the union of the sexual act.

The word "Papa" from which we get "Pope" means "DOOR". The Pope in
religion is the DOOR to the MYSTERIES. The word "Cardinal" means "Hinge".

The Dome of the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican, is also an
important religious symbol. We have the same Dome here in Washington D.C.,
the Capital building and we don't even question it. The Word comes from the

imput in the Bible, the Torah, The Koran, or ANY other "holy
book". I don't believe that ANYONE knows WHY we're here, WHO put us
here, or WHAT our purpose is...
I DO believe that we ought to "suffer fools" (as I'm clearly doing) that we
ought to try and be "civil"...and that we ought to do our best to utilize the
ability to REASON that we seem to have been "endowed" with...sadly it seems
that SOME of US are more well-endowed than others...

(And, Charlie Parker would scoff at your nonsense...A REAL "Bird" know's that
it's organized religion that REALLY clips your wings...and it's on heroin
that he'd have been able to figure THAT out!!!...o. BTW, 'Trane was
the best sax-man ever...yes, he on tenor, Bird on alto, but Trane was
CERTAINLY the more "spiritual" of the lot...and "A LOVE SUPREME" might be the
most spiritual jazz recording of all timedope

God made different races so we wouldn't all think alike obviously.
This kind of generalising vagueness of the new agers about religion, is what
is going to be incorporated in the global gaia religion the UN is foisting
on us. We are all one, let's live together in harmony, but depopulate as we
don't have enough resources. Post coming on this. These religious leaders
ARE all one now .Preaching ecology from the pulpit. Even the Dali Lama. I
scanned some of Maitreya's advice for us humans - it parallels the Dali's

well now that you ask I invented my own religion just to see if it
could be done ... but initially in the hope of gaining some tax exemption
 ... :)

 Its called CONTINUISM -

I invented my own 'genesis' story,
used scientific analogy to model the basic ingredients
I invented my own Cosmology and particle physics ...
and even wrote my own book of ethics

and I appointed myself the 'High Priest' :)
.. then charged myself a lot of money for my membership !
but never got as far as employing a pretty secretary :(

However - CONTINUISM can give anyone a run for their money -
and I think that it deserves a place amongst those texts as:

Re: [CTRL] Religion

1999-10-15 Thread Ric Carter

 -Caveat Lector-

From: earthman [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We just need the right marketing and we'll rich and famous..

There are various ways to market a religion / belief system /
obsession / scam. Besides the traditional mind-control methods
[drugs, implants, subliminal suggestion / hypnosis, traumatic
brainwashing / love-bombing, etc] there are techniques to gain
public attention approval, usually by gaining media exposure:

  1. Bribe your way into popular entertainments.
  2. Commit public atrocities to gain notoriety.
  3. Spam media/commo nets with proclamations.
  4. Buy control of media outlets.

It's also possible to operate "below the radar" of mass-media:

  5. Promulgate rumors, domestically abroad.
  6. Hijack existing groups to spread your message.
  7. Develop disciplined cadres of operatives.
  8. Infiltrate and subvert governing bodies.

But even energetic implementation of such techniques doesn't
guarantee success. Note that classic Marxist/Leninist disinfo
marketing strategies/tactics managed to attain short-term gains
in terms of thought- and territorial-control, but were unable
to prevail against a materialist system that actually delivered
material results. The same techniques, when employed by holy
hucksters, succeed because the payoffs accrue AFTER one's death.

The lesson is clear: if you're going to market a system, DON'T
PROMISE ANYTHING TANGIBLE! Sell the sizzle, not the steak.
Always structure your claims so that you have no dissatisfied
customers grumbling that they'd have done better somewhere else.

CONTINUISM will succeed if it's entertaining enough. A well-
produced cosmology that includes sex/drugs/music should suffice.

Some years later, in 1992, Identity compelled Randy Weaver into a showdown
 with federal agents in Idaho.

I believe that the above statement is false. Anyone wish to defend it? My
understanding is that Randy Weaver was had attended a couple of meetings of
of a Identy type group and had stopped attending when he was approached by
some feds with the request that he spy on the group. He refused. Afterwards,
the feds had an agent persuade Weaver to break a gun law in the hope that he
would be forced to spy on the group. When he again refused he was indicted.
The "showdown" followed from this.
