It seems to me that Islam was made for men to subjugate women I am not for womens liberation in the western image but these poor women are positively imprisoned! I live on an Island down on the south west coast.It is so difficult to not be biased against this religion and the fanatics who blow themselves up. I understand "us"to mean indigenous British
people who are happy with our life style and who do not wish to become Muslims,
not now, not tomorrow, not ever. We want our women and girls educated, free to
marry whom they please, able to dress in any way they please and with the
ability to leave their homes unaccompanied by any male. We want our men to be
shaved or not according to their choice, bare headed according to choice.
We are for the most part very tolerant people and welcome folk from every nation
under the sun of whatever belief, creed, colour. What we do not like is having
other people's views forced on us. Our way of life has evolved over centuries
and for the most part we live in harmony with our fellows. Of course there are
intolerant people in any society, but one's intolerance is limited by the law
here, not by baton wielding thugs. Are you trying to make a point here which I

I too have daughters, older than your youngster but the thought fills me with horror that anyone would try to inflict the Muslim way of life on them. And I have grandsons growing up being taught respect for women. I see the occasional woman here clothed from head to foot in their burkas and I feel so sorry for them. I will say that in MOST Islamic societies women hold jobs, choose to wear or not wear a head cloth, and are free to walk about freely. The Koran gave women the right to work, to get inheritance, to own property, and to vote 1300 years ago. In the US it happened less than 80 years ago. When did women get the vote in England?
