New look for AOO
Hi More one question: is possible to change this look'n'fell of AOO? Give to it a flat idea? I'm evolving an icon set to AOO[1] and I wish to get a better look to it, as suggested in my mockups[2]. Re: Add new basic shape in AOO
Hi Thank you, Ariel and Regina, by the fast reply, but I not ask about the stencils in self, but about basic shapes that exist in the draw bar, like star, cloud, diagram pictures, etc. I believe that they are described in some XML inside the installation directory, but haven't idea where to find it. I found the descritor of buttons, like the button that you can choice the smiles, in %INSTALLFOLDER/share/config/soffice.cfg/modules/sdraw/toolbar/symbolshapes.xml. It point to .uno:SymbolShapes.symbol, but where is this uno? PS: if possible, add me in CC. I'm not subscribed in this list. Regards, Claudio Anyway, today i have a problem in to draw a network flow, like in MS Visio, and I found some great stencils, already converted in image and packaged for AOO. This is the easy part. The hard part is some shapes that haven't in AOO, like a round square/rectangle with space to write some text as title (at top). Calligra Flow has a lot of stencils, and the are in ODG format, see http://lxr.kde.org/source/calligra/flow/stencils http://lxr.kde.org/source/calligra/flow/stencils You can create galleries from all of them.
Re: Add new basic shape in AOO
Hi Thank you more one time, Regina. 2014-09-30 12:50 GMT-03:00 Regina Henschel rb.hensc...@t-online.de: I believe that they are described in some XML inside the installation directory, No, they are hard coded. Ok. Understood. You will find a start for how to do it in https://wiki.openoffice.org/ wiki/Create_a_New_Custom_Shape_in_Source_in_File But that is only a start, custom shapes have a lot more properties. You can look at the section 10.6 in ODF1.2 specification part 1. http://docs.oasis-open.org/ office/v1.2/os/OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part1.html Have you ever written HTML or XML manually? Then writing a svg-graphic will work as workaround too. I already saw your page, Regina, and i'm trying to do this shape. When i finish it, i attach in my bug. Best regards, Claudio
Add new basic shape in AOO
Hi First of all, congrats to all by your best work in AOO. I continue using and following the community, maintaining the pt-BR translation, but without many time to work in the project at all. Anyway, today i have a problem in to draw a network flow, like in MS Visio, and I found some great stencils, already converted in image and packaged for AOO. This is the easy part. The hard part is some shapes that haven't in AOO, like a round square/rectangle with space to write some text as title (at top). Take a look in this image[1] and see some squares with Dialer [A|B|C]. I saw a page in the wiki[2] that explain how i can add a new shape in a new draw file, but my question is how insert in the draw bar, inside a button like of smile. I believe that is a good shape to add in AOO. In other hand, someone can give me a idea about the filter to import VISIO files in AOO? Since now, thanks in advanced, Claudio ps: Please, add my email in CC. I'm not subscribed in this list. Ricardo, we can go by two ways, based in commom practice for mediawiki: http://wiki.../Documentation and http://wiki.../Documentation/lang - for localized pages from the core http://wiki.../LANG/anything - for local/native texts. This can work. We also have this other infrastructure in place http://wiki.openoffice.org/**wiki/Main_Testhttp://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Test added by Claudio a few months ago. See http://wiki.openoffice.org/**wiki/Template:Langhttp://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Template:Lang to see how it works. I don't know which approach is best for our case. The *Template:* technology is for many other things, like menus, sorts, and others. I think that we can use this first step based in review the core and a way to translate it for other languages. How our system is a mediawiki, i did a research about localization in this software with the last methods, where i found some interesting contents. I believe that with translate extension for mediawiki we have the tool for this goal. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Making_Multilingual_Wikis_a_Reality_-_Niklas_Laxstr%C3%B6m_and_Claus_Christensen.ogv http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:MediaWiki As for keeping subsites synchronized, in theory this allows to have a Master copy in English and then translate it in the various languages as volunteers become available. In practice, we can't stop someone from editing or creating a translated page to add new content in a language only, but ideally this would imply that the English version is updated to reflect the changes too. If i understood right, the translate extension will help us in this task. All those portal pages are under PDL license (look at the categories at the bottom of those pages). If we want to promote new wiki content under Apache license, this means a problem. If I read this page right http://www.openoffice.org/licenses/PDL.html PDL is a sort of copyleft license. This is a excelent question. I ask to my self how the TDF did about (more) this question. Can we do like them? Simply overwrite the license and to continue the devel? (i remember when they copied all sites/docs/contents, like api site, and changed the license) Re-license those pages is not possible without the explicit consent of the author, and those pages are so old that contact the authors is almost impossible. Suppose we update those pages to point to the new material. A potential contributor (or just a casual reader) will see the PDL notice on the portal page, and no notice on the new pages: from the user perspective, does this means that the new page is also under PDL? We know it isn't, but this could be a cause of confusion, IMO. So, which is the best way to work around this problem? Reimplement those pages, making a clear separation between new material (under Apache) and legacy content? Maybe this is the unique way. By other hand, is a opportunity of review all content in the wiki, reorder and clean it, and evolve based in the correct license. In some cases, we can see the page history and try to find the author. Some parts, i believe that is all from Sun/Oracle copyright, so transfered to ASF. Re: glosary/terminology files in pootle
Hi 2013/6/2 janI j...@apache.org: On 2 June 2013 15:37, Andrea Pescetti pesce...@apache.org wrote: Adding terminology seems fine, of course. Requiring the review step is in principle OK for me too, but I wonder how it will work for languages where we don't have native speakers as committers: does it require that strings are explicitly marked as reviewed, or is it enough to ask volunteers to check the warnings generated by Pootle and then send a note to the l10n list saying that they have considered/ignored warnings appropriately? Asking volunteers to that would be a significant step in getting better quality. The nice thing about pootle review is that it can be done be everyone. My idea was to say something like before moving po files back to svn, the committer must run a pootle review, if there are errors/warnings not explained by the translators on the mailing list, the files will not be transferred. I know it puts a little burden on the person who does the transfer, but similar to receiving a code patch. I think that we have some mistake about the review. One thing is to generate all strings in the source lang, like en_US. When you do it, you can give any inconsistent problems, like use differents terms in differents parts doing the same thing. IMHO, the translation team from Sun did a incredible work about this interchange about UI and help contents. Other step is to translate it for many langs, like StarOffice/OOo/AOO. A good practice is the use of glossary/terminology, giving to team a way to translate in the same way. Is possible to do this work without the glossary/terminology, but is possible that you will have a UI/help with differents terms for SAME thing, or some thing worse, like differents parts of UI with differents strings for the SAME thing. IMO, we are in this edge between the good and acceptable, and now, we can start a revision of all work. An example: pivot table, in pt_BR, was translated for Assistente de dados (data wizard?) instead Tabela dinâmica. Before, all strings was consistent with the first option, that is good, but isn't the good choice of term. Today, (i believe that) all UI/help are aligned with the second term, that is more appropriate. When i did the translation, i found some original strings that could be written in other way or using other example. So, you can see 2 review to do: one for original strings and other for evolve the translations. In this time, if we implement the terminology practice, the new translations can do first the translation of glossary, and after load in pootle and provide for them translators the po file (to offline translations), giving a tool for a better and consistent translation. Who already did his translation, can review the work, giving a better quality for his translated AOO through revising the glossary and reflecting this work in the UI/help. Is possible too ignore this practice and do it freely. :-) Anyway, i think/suggest to start the process revision after 4.0[.1?]. Today, only provide the resource and the use is free to all teams. About the Pootle, i can help in admin it, if necessary (backup admin?). ;-) Cheer Claudio - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

AOO in a cloud using GTK
Hi I found a (good!) tutorial[1] (in portuguese) where shows about how put LibO in a browser using a resource of GTK. There, the author explain that the insight was to use a custom build with options --enable-x11-backend --enable-broadway-backend. After, export some variables: $ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 $ export GDK_BACKEND=broadway $ export BROADWAY_DISPLAY=8080** and at final, call the apps: $ soffice --writer $ soffice --calc $ soffice --draw $ soffice --impress $ soffice --base $ soffice --math $ soffice --global $ soffice --web Each app will open in a different port starting from 8080, e.g., only need enter in your web browser at localhost:808[0|1|2|...] for each app. I see in the Oliver's presentation[2] about the work of Jian and Fan, with a different approach, where they convert(?) the interface to XML and html5. IMHO, this is the best approach, but the use of GTK is other option to play. ;-) So, my question is: do we have a build with this options? Is possible to try it? I ask because my build is broke. In the past, was more problematic that today, it's true. Or between English variants: who said that Britain and America are two nations divided by a common language? But even in this situation we only have *one* English forum. Yes, there are some grammar and spelling differences, but I do not think that communication is impossible between the two nations. I mean, there are words that are pretty innocent in Spain but became nasty and heavy bad words in Latin America... but we still communicate on *one* forum, and we understand each other without problems. As in Spanish, somethings are different, but I agree that is understandable. Using some other projects, like Mozilla, we have distinction between both languages with proper space for both, or better, i see only brazilians in brazilian space; or in Debian, that we have one space since years, that was occupied with brazilian way and today we are creating the proper space for pt-BR. Create or not ? As I previously said, I like the idea of a Portuguese forum. What I do not like is the idea of two Portuguese forums. To get to the actual survey you need to go to http://survey.openoffice.org/index.php/815178/ Rob, have a config that you can set in the survey to list this survey in the root page. I think that is a good practice to list there. Best, Claudio - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Hi 2013/4/18 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann orwittm...@googlemail.com: But regarding the removed Slot FN_PROPERTY_WRAP_DLG perform a clean build of module sw: - cd sw - make clean - build Oliver, sorry by my newbie ask, but... we don't use more dmake? If i understood correctly, build is a perl script that calls all modules, building in order of dependence, entering in each one, calling Dmake to compile and delivering all files where need. I saw some makefile files and many more makefile.mk, where i think that one is for Make and other is to Dmake. I see it in wiki too, for build parts. In long term, we will migrate to Make or continue with this hibrid(?) model? Err... Sorry but... the extentions cited by Ariel will be integrated in the source as code and not as extension? In other words, will be part of core? As he explained, make sense for me to merge this functions in the code in the same way of Solver was in the past. Sorry by my newbie understanding about the question. I am studing the requeriment to build into debian way, getting many problems to bring the code to be debianized, breaking in some parts (at this moment in pdfimport module) and to know more about this question can help. Hi 2013/2/20 Samer Mansour samer...@gmail.com: This is an early investigation, I'm not familiar with Pootle. I will check to see if we can create a process to notify translators when something needs translating, such as their mailing list. In either situation I think we'll be gaining more translations with less overhead work. Its an improvement. Maybe we can use Website Meta Language - WML[1] [1]http://thewml.org/ I gave some examples in other thread[2] and we can get it sync easy and with some tools to monitoring the outdated pages[3]. Andrea, here have a good point that i already tried find a reply using the Apache CMS, without success. If i have a page oo.o/participe.html and I wish to translate to pt-BR, i could put in oo.o/pt-br/participe.html. I translate the page and, if the original page (in english) is updated, i haven't idea how to track it easily. IMHO, we can do like the Debian Project, where exist THE SITE, and it is translated for many languages, and when you enter in this pages, through webserver detection, it changes for your native language. When the translation is outdated, have a warning at top of page, suggesting that there version is outdated and to read the current page into english page. See two example, for portuguese[1] and english[2]. If you enter in the main URL[3] will show at your language, if have translation for it, or in english if not.
