[Dspace-tech] Records of the database are not deleted

I dumped the database to a text file and then went in with an editor and made sure dspace owned all the tables related to the application. Then reimported the database. Hi all, I just installed dspace 4.2 but when I want to send a comment asks me log in the system. is assumed that the comments are from users who do not need to register. then I logging like an administrator and it tells me I do not have permission to post comments. how can I correct this error? -- Slashdot TV. Hi all, is there some way to update the db in dspace 1.7.2 to 3.2 without to have to make the updating the dspace software? Hello Liss, I think it's unlikely that your DSpace database has grown to consume your entire disk. It's more likely that the old bitstreams are filling up your disk. This is because if you delete an item with a bitstream in DSpace, it's not really removed from the assetstore. To actually delete all deleted bitstreams from the asset store, run this command (replace [dspace] with your dspace installation directory): [dspace]/bin/dspace cleanup -v This fact is documented in API docs, but this should probablybe stressed more often in User Guide. http://projects.dspace.org/8/apidocs/org/dspace/storage/bitstore/package-summary.html If I'm wrong and you really need to shrink the SQL database, not the assetstore, let me know on the list. I did not find the messages.properties file either. What I realized is that Messages.properties file is shipped along with the jar files. I downloaded the dspace-api-1.7.1.jar file from the lib directory ([dspace-source]/dspace/target/dspace-1.7.1-build.dir/webapps/jspui/WEB-INF/lib) and extracted it locally. In that folder you will find Messages.properties. I copied that into [dspace-source]/dspace/modules/jspui/src/main/resources/Messages.properties and made changes to that file as I needed. Rebuilt dspace and it seemed to work. I am not sure if this is the way to go or not. It worked for me. I think if you don't install Dspace from source release the default files will be shipped with jar files and if you want to overwrite anything you have to recreate the files in your directory. It is weird that it is not documented anywhere although it says edit Messages.properties file found in . You might want to try the same for the rest of the files too. I'm sorry, I have a hard time to understand your problem exactly.
The bitstreams are not showing in the edit item view? Could you maybe send some
screenshots?
The problem is only occuring in the JSPUI, right?

what are the values for your asset store directories in your dspace.cfg ?
Maybe there are other JSP UI related parameters in dspace.cfg that are faulty.
Sorry I can't be of more help at this time.
The full cocoon log also looks strange: normally, if all runs well in your
xmlui, this file should be empty
So I have strong reasons to believe something is wrong with your configuration.

Hi: I have a question, It's posible restore the postgresql database of Dspace v. 1.4.2 to postgresql database of Dspace v. 1.6.2? I used this comand: C:\programfiles\postresql\8.2\binpg_restore.exe -i -h localhost -p 5432 -U postgres -d dspace -l C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.2\bin\02032010 and I copied the assestore dir to the dspace\assestore on my new instalation too. but the repository only shows cominities. the coleccions and registires are not showing. [Dspace-tech] dspace test-email
Hi all I've just to install dspace 1.6.1 on windows with tomcat 5.5 an it works but I have a problem with email's alerts or registration of new users the system sais that the email was sended but when the user check his mail show this: To complete registration for a DSpace account, please click the link below: http://pruebaservliss:8080/xmlui/register?token=7525cc3f1817456e791baccc11ba But when the user clic in the link show this: HTTP Status 404 - type Status report message description The requested resource () is not available. Apache Tomcat/5.5.29 I used this command in C:\dspace\bindspace test-email and show this: Error sending email: -Error:javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: mailweb.uv.mx, port:25; nested exception 15 java.net.connect Exception: connection refused:connect I have installed dspace 1.4.2 in another server with the same email settings and the alerts and registrations work fine I don't know if I have to configure another thing with this new version.
