Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.com **SOLVED**
So it turns out that somehow the Data Source under Address Search was set to None and I did not notice it!! When I noticed this I thought maybe changing from using the web page lookup (alt-F3) to the XML subscription it got changed by the program - because I assumed that if the Data Source was None it would not have worked for the Web lookup either... Wrong! I tested this and with Data Source set to None the Web lookup still works fine, so it was all cockpit error. [Dx4win] CW Keying Com Port issue
All, I have DX4WIN 9.0.9 running on a Windows 10 PC which has one build in hardware serial port which is connected to my Kenwood TS-950SD via the Kenwood IF-232. I then have a USB 2.0 to Serial (FTDI chipset) adapter plugged in to a USB 2.0 port (COM9) and configured DX4WIN to use COM9 for CW keying. I built a home brew interface and it works fine but the problem that I have is that sometime when the computer starts up, after having been turned off, and I launch DX4WIN I get an error dialog that says "Could not open COM9 for keying: ie_Open - device already open". At first I started going in to File->Preferences selecting a differenc com port (non existent) for keying and saving changes (got an error that the Com port is not available - which was expected. I then repeating this and re-selecting COM9 and saving and no error message and DX4WIN keying works fine. I then tried something different - when the error occurs I just do a File->Preferences->Save Changes and Exit - WITHOUT making any changes. This results in CW keying working fine. I then found that if I repeat this again, save changes without changing anything I will get the 'already open' error. Every other time I save changes I get the error. And this happens even when NO changes are made, just open preferences and immediately tell DX4WIN to save preferences. This is not a big deal but it is annoying and I am hoping someone out there has a solution. I am using DX4WIN version 7.02.15 under windows 2000. I have a FT1000MP connected to the computer working fine with DX4WIN. I have installed RigTalk in order to add an Icom 756PROIII as a second radio. Rig talk has been installed successfully. The 756PROIII works 100% with TRX Manager. So RigTalk is working fine. I have configured preferences for the second radio using 756PROIII default entry, the corresponding COM port being set and a poll rate of 1000 ms (1 second). When I switch to the second radio, DX4WIN can communicate with the radio, but it is somewhat erratic. When I change bands it takes long to adjust DX4WIN band/mode (at random basis). Then I have tried the option radio|set frequency. I have realized that when pooling the frequency from the radio DX4WIN understands the frequency wrong. For instance radio is on 7035.00, but DX4WIN reads 703.500,00. Suddenly it understands correctly and at this point the band/mode is ajusted at QSO window when in real time logging (F9). Definitely there is something wrong at DX4WIN's side configuration wise or even a glitch. Any help is appreciated. [Dx4win] 756 ProIII and RigTalk USB interface
More info. Using the File-Databases-Radios menu option I was able to see some of the information going back and forth between computer and radio. The first thing I had to do was change the Read multiplier from 1.0 to 0.01 to get the frequency to display correctly - sort of. This value seems to work for any frequency up to 21,474.83kHz. At 21,474.84 kHz the reported frequency is -21,474.83kHz and the number continues to go up (toward zero), at 42,949.67kHz the Edit Radio dialog box reports -0.00. As you increase the frequency from there the reported frequency goes back up (e.g. 42,949.68kHz is reported as 0.1). [Dx4win] Win NT Port Driver Error
All, I have a strange problem with V6.02 on my work computer which is running Windows NT. A little background: I use the installation on my work computer so that I can run various reports and print them on the nice laserjet printer here. I have been a DX4WIN user since very early 2000 and V6.02 is the fourth or fifth rev I have installed. I have always installed the program on my work computer, it has always warned me that I do not have administrator rights so I will not be able to install the CW port driver, I have always just clicked the 'OK' button to continue, and the program has always run. I do not actually have a radio at work so there is no problem with the lack of a port driver. However, with V6.02 (I did not attempt 6.00 or 6.01) everything looks the same until I go to run the program and it tells me that it can not find the port driver and it exits. The port driver is there, and if I log in as an administrator the program runs fine. I have installed the program as an administrator and it still will not run unless I am logged in with administrator rights. I have installed the program as a non administrator, then logged in with admin rights, extrated and copied the port driver file, verified the program works, then log in without admin rights and it will not run. What is most puzzling is the message that says that it can not find the port driver which is there in the directory it is supposed to be in!? Anyone have any clue as to what is going on. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any suggestions. Rick W2RDS

[Dx4win] Soundcard questions
Sorry if this is a bit off topic. I have been trying to get my radio (TS-950SD) setup to use RTTY/PSK31 and I have made the cable to go from the connector on the back of the radio to the soundcard. I plugged the cable into the line in jack on the sound card and could not get anything to work. I found that if I plugged the cable into the mic input everything is fine - with the exception of the fact that I now no longer have a microphone plugged into the computer - which I do use for other things. The computer is a several year old Micron 230MHz Pentium machine with the soundcard integrated on the motherboard. Thanks, Rick W2RDS

Does anybody else have the problem that clicking the printer button on the print preview screen does not actually cause anything to happen? 73, Rick W2RDS
