So, the Entity would be obvious from the Call. However, some Countries use the same prefix for several ARRL Entities and there needs to be some way to differentiate them in the database. An HK0 could be San Andres or Malpelo, so a /M is put after the HK0 to specifically denote it as Malpelo. Other eaxmples would be FR and JD1 versus PY0Txx and CE0Yxx. The simple answer is that if a sub-prefix can be specified that is unique to that DXCC entity (i.e. PY0F, PY0S, PY0T or VK9W, VK9L, VK9C), then that prefix (without the slash) is used as the reference prefix. HK0M is not a unique prefix for Malpelo; in fact, other than HK0TU, and an HK5/0 that was on a few years ago, I don't know that any other callsign has been used from there. HK0 is/was also used from San Andres, Bajo Nuevo and Seranna Bank. So that is why the / notation is used. My submit shows Band total 260 Mode total 26 -- 286 The only way I see to cross balance or prove out or match, is to reduce mode total by band mode QSO's, because they add to band and mode, but only show up in submission as 1. This would leave submit for mode only. When I do this I get 271. Coincidence or real deal? I have no dupes. Hi, I need some help and info. I know this is an old problem for most I use DX4win 5.03. I just installed, installed 5.03 copied my newer save files to new computer. I had a tower with xp and LPT ports and serial ports. I used a home made cable we made for CT (with the transister) to key from LPT port to radio keyer Now with the new laptop, I of course neither ports. So I get errors packet failed to open, and more important could not open CW driver. So how do I set this up to send CW from DX4win via program keyboard? Also I use CT for contesting CW, (and some phone) so I will also like to set CT up to work also. I would say I need a USB port work around? I have DX4win program loaded and up to date. David! That did it, I click on map window, then hit W key, and the map reappeared, like magic!! Here I sat for 2 days pondering. I do know I saw it disappear when I accidently hit either mouse or a key on keyboard. I really like the map, I never used it the first couple years. The spots will come up as black-on-yellow (i.e. new all-time, never worked). Even if you work the station, it will STILL come up as black-on-yellow the next time. This has worked since Version 7, maybe earlier. The yellow/blue/red spots work fine for me with the latest country file. Just work all the PJ stations you hear that are not gray-on-white or black-on-white. Using the wildcard, you'll have to check each call to see if you have worked them before, not as effective IMO. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Hi, here's one I have been dealing with for a while. I use a 1x4 label. I set the size for 1x4 Yet when I print the label it only uses the space of a 1 x 25/8 label. Political Entities, Geographical Entities, Special Areas #1, Political Entities is the category with which we are concerned with respect to Kosova. 1. A provisional prefix bloc assignment may be made by the Secretary General of ITU. Should such provisional assignments not be ratified later by the full ITU, the Entity will be removed from the DXCC List. c) The Entity contains a permanent population, is administered by a local government, and is located at least 800 km from its parent. To satisfy the permanent population and administered by a local government criteria of this sub-section, an Entity must be listed on either (a) the U.S. Department of State's list of Dependencies and Areas of Special Sovereignty as having a local Administrative Center, or (b) the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories. You don't need one that will last that long (5 or 10 minutes is fine), and there are plenty of small ones available from companies like APC (www.apc.com), Belkin (www.belkin.com) and Ultra (www.ultraproducts.com) for well under $100. (I personally have at least one from each of those companies at home, with a somewhat larger Ultra that powers a couple of computers, most of my network gear, and a few other things.) The advantage of this is that in the event of a power outage, you will not only have the time to save the QSO, but you can also shut your computer down in an orderly fashion. Many of these products will connect to your computer and will shut it down after a specified set of conditions are met (e.g., backup battery has been running and has 'x'% power left, etc.), meaning that even if you're not there, your computer will still shut down properly. Even with a system that writes to disk upon save, there is still a small window where a QSO could be lost, although I can understand the frustration at loosing any data for any reason. As for your specific suggestion, there are utility programs that will make a key sequence to any arbitrarily complex set of other key sequences (and some will get a lot more complicated, simulating mouse movement and mouse button clicks), though personally I don't use them so I can't give a recommendation. W5LT wrote: I am not a computer wizard, but is it possible to program an unused function key (say F12) to execute: enter alt s sequence ?? That way you could enter QSO (from a spot) and write to disk with one button. That would be a neat solution. Just a thought. More information at: http://www.f6exv.org/ The first time you log a QSO with TO5FJ, just change the Prefix field to FJ, then all future QSOs will log correctly. I will not get a country file release out in time for the DXpedition, but this call will be added for the next time. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C/?, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
[Dx4win] Printing SWL Labels
Hi, in need of assistance. I want to print SWL label. I bring up my QSO, used Cfm SWL, print SWL label, all is okay, except the Station CALLSIGN I worked is NOT on label, just date time Band and mode. 1-Hw do u get the Station call on label? Also 2- Can u modify the bottom line, and write your own: Thanks SWL report de WO2N? 73, tnx Bernie/WO2N.
[Dx4win] Printing SWL Labels
Hi Isrido, Reflector, Thank You I tried exactly that, and it works exactly like I want. I added the callsign as part of the reply in 3rd box. There is room for improving the label process by allowing worked callsign to be printed, and allow multi labels printed. Takes time to do one at a time. Lucky I don't have many to do. 73, tnx for your reply Bernie/WO2N. - Original Message - From: Isidro Acosta Hern?ndez [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: wo2n [EMAIL PROTECTED]; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, May 03, 2007 9:26 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Printing SWL Labels Hi Bernie and the reflector: I want to print SWL label. It would be a nice feature to include the worked callsign. #2: Go to File (main window) Preferences Rep/Lab Labels, and put whatever you want in the 3rd. box. [Dx4win] Hw to change?
Hi, Tnx for reading this: Hw can you change ONE QSL mgr route, without having all the other QSO's in the log change? In other words 3 different mgrs,or mail drops. for same call? Reason, old qso, and three different sauces are found, so I want to send to both. Grateful for all replies 73, Bernie. PS 2 different mgrs show in data base for the callsign, yet changing one qso changes all? Oh call is EZ8CQ
[Dx4win] Spot info in QSO window
John,When you start DX4, bring up your callsign window, the window were you log. click on qso tab click add real time. Don't know why, but I think this fixes it. I do this every time I start. If there is a way to jump state this step, and auto start everything I would like to know how. Hope this helps 73, Bernie/WO2N - Original Message - From: John Unger [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Monday, February 12, 2007 9:19 AM Subject: [Dx4win] Spot info in QSO window When I first start up dx4win and start dx spots and I single-click on an entry in the DX spots window, I don't see any information about that call/DX entity in the QSO, Info:, or other pertinent windows unless I double-click in the entry in the DX spots window and move that spot into the QSO window. However, after I have worked and logged a station, all that I have to do is to single click on an entry in the DX spots window and the information for that spot shows up in the QSO and windows like the Info: window. I would like to have the single-click behavior work all the time. Is there some way to make it work that way? tnx es 73 - John, W4AU -- No virus found in this outgoing message. [Dx4win] F2 Key?
Hi, Dx4win says the F2 key can be programmed to alert you of different awards a QSL Card could apply for when confirming (Y). This would be nice in tracking a QSO for awards. *BUT* it doesn't say how ??? Anyone working this angle? Tnx es 73, de Bernie/WO2N.
[Dx4win] DX Spotting Window
Hi, Is there anyway to stop the DX window from updating by overwriting itself, as the same called out spot come in??? I would like to see ALL the spots on the DX screen, with all the comments like the RTTY window lists them as the spots come in. This would let me have one color screen to focus on, and follow the DX, splits, patterns ect. Thanks. Bernie/WO2N. It was making me nuts seeing a spot come in, then its gone!
