[Elecraft] MRP40 CW Software SDR ver.
I have been looking at this software and see they have a SDR version of it, they list the KX3 as supported but not the K3. It seems that it would be about the same is anyone using it with their K3 or who have looked at the product and would comment. Fred, The webpage for the MRP40-SDR software indicates it is looking for a radio with IQ signal outputs. The KX3 has this. The K3 does not (natively). However, a K3 equipped with an XV3(or XV3A), plus an LP-Pan, SoftRock, or other IF to IQ baseband output would seem to be acceptable. (It is also possible to bring the IF signal out of a K3 without the transverter interface). You must use something like a softrock to convert the K3's IF out to the I/Q necessary to feed the MRP-SDR software. I have used my K3 and softrock with an on board as well as a Delta44 sound card using Rocky software. I have also run NaP3 using the softrock on the K3's IF out, and now having a P3 for the IF display. I didn't find the MRP40-SDR worth the $67 usd price *FOR ME* so if you are looking for cw decoder that's one thing, if you are wanting it for the waterfall display, that will need a middle man interface, like the softrock. However I do use and love the regular MRP40 Morse Code Decoder software. I have been happy with it's performance for many years. I compared it with all other free and paid cw decoders and found it to be the best! so how you want to use the MRP40-SDR and what you have to run it, on may make it worthwhile for you as in ymmv g you can download and try for free for 30 days so give it a shot, see what you think. Fred, perhaps you misunderstood. To properly use the SDR version of this program, you need to present it with both I and Q signals (in-phase and quadrature). These would be routed into a 2-channel (stereo) soundcard. So, you need the I/Q output from the K3, provided by LP-Pan, SoftRock, or similar device. Then the 2 channel output needs to be connected to a stereo soundcard input on the PC. I don't believe the Signalink (USB?) is stereo, but I could be mistaken. Bruce it appears that you are correct after reading for a while, it appears both of my radios cannot function with the same SDR software.
