Hi Terrence,
If I remember correctly you have to unpack the file to a temp directory
before you can run setup.exe.

Hi Terrence,

since you have already tried the DelUserLex.exe file.
Here is another fix that I was told about. Not sure if it is actually just
doing the same thing or not.

Go to c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Speech
Then, press enter on Sapisvr.exe. It won't say anything, but it should
correct the control panel entries for Sapi.

Another thing that you can do is to use the Windows XP restore feature to
restore your computer back to a date when the voices were working.

And then there is to use your Windows XP cd to repair the entire sapi5 text to
speech engine.

And Thomas gave us this link

you can download
(SpeechSDK51MSM.exe).
which contains all of the Microsoft Sapi voices available for Windows XP from

Hi Tarence,
Ok, let us try this tact. What Sapi voices do you currently have
installed. It is very important to know if you have installed and
uninstalled any third-party Sapi voices such as those from Scansoft,
Cepstral, ESpeak, etc. I know of a case in point where a gamer installed
some Cepstral voices to try them with Montezuma's Revenge, removed them
and after that his Sapi voices completely stopped working. Apparently
Microsoft's Speech API is very easy to break and if you do the wrong
thing

say goodbye to it.

Hi list.
How do you repair SAPI from the windows XP CD?
I've tried all the suggestions mentioned on this list, all accept using a

My SAPI hasn't been working right for so long I don't think I have a restore
point that goes that far back.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: [Audyssey] More SAPI Frustration

2008-11-24 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Jim,
By the way, the deluserlex.exe program and Sapisvr.exe perform two
completely different actions. Deluserlex.exe deletes any custom user
lexicon files that may have been added when more non-Microsoft TTS
engines are installed that may be causing speech issues. The Sapisvr.exe
program corrects the entries in the control pannel.
From what I gathered from Terrence's issue neither seams to be the
case. Honestly, I think the only way to fix this one is to reinstall the
entire Sapi 5 speech system from the product recovery cd by removing the
old copy of Sapi and then installing it cleanly Although,t hje Sapi 5
SDK should do a full install as well..

Smile.

[Audyssey] More SAPI Frustration

2008-11-23 Thread Terrence van Ettinger AKA Angus MacLaren
Hello, all,
Well, I've tried a few things to get my SAPI fixed, since I'd really like
to be able to use it with vipmud, but it still isn't quite right. Here's what
I've tried:
I've installed Jim Kitchen's winkit file.
I've reinstalled the SpeechSDK5.1.exe package.
I've also installed the tts as well again.

Now, my SAPI-dependent programs don't freak, but they don't speak either.
VipMud, however, dings at me every time it tries to speak, but doesn't speak.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do to fix this? I like VipMud, and would
like to use it to the max...having a separate voice for editing and incoming
would be totally excellent!

Thanks,
Terrence

Re: [Audyssey] More SAPI Frustration

2008-11-23 Thread Trouble

Go back to Jim's site and grab
http://www.kitchensinc.griffithsgoodies.com/ttsgames/deluserlex.exedeluserlex.exe
37k bytes November 2006

That file will fix your sappi problem, it has fixed at least 90% of
the problems.

Hello, all,
Well, I've tried a few things to get my SAPI fixed, since I'd
really like to be able to use it with vipmud, but it still isn't
quite right. Here's what I've tried:

I've installed Jim Kitchen's winkit file.
I've reinstalled the SpeechSDK5.1.exe package.
I've also installed the tts as well again.

Now, my SAPI-dependent programs don't freak, but they don't
speak either. VipMud, however, dings at me every time it tries to
speak, but doesn't speak. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to
fix this? I like VipMud, and would like to use it to the
max...having a separate voice for editing and incoming would be
totally excellent!

Thanks,
Terrence

Hi Tarrence,
Have you tried running deluserlex.exe? If not download it and run it. It
should correct the problem you are having with sapi.

Smile.

Hi,

P.S.

Please, state if you are using Windows XP or Vista. If using Vista make
sure you have installed 5.3 not 5.1. Version 5.1 is not, I repete, not
fully compatible with Vista.

Cheers.

It seems I have 2 LH voices plus Mike and Mary; none of them read anything
for me though.

Hi Tarence,
Ok, let us try this tact.
Apparently
Microsoft's Speech API is very easy to break and if you do the wrong thing
say goodbye to it.
