portage? Else, does portage provide a console client for eMule? TIA

If you are looking for clients that connect to the eDonkey network like
eMule, then have a look at mldonkey (in Portage) and kmldonkey (also in
Portage).

Cheers!
Chris

I dont know what you mean by grabbing the whole desktop. If by that
you mean that when you use vnc you have to spawn a new desktop (hence
you cant use your old current one) then there is a solution for this.
emerge gemsvnc. It is a vnc server which uses your current X session in
effect behaving like screen for console. HTH.

RE: [gentoo-user] X sharing (OT?)

2003-11-07 Thread Mark Knecht
Hi,
I have been trying tightvnc this morning. Is it not possible to get
tightvnc to transmit the whole root window so I can see the desktop on the
vncserver machine, like I do with PC Anywhere? I thought it was, so I must
be starting the vncserver incorrectly for doing that.

Assuming you could, then couldn't Mathieu start an X session on the
server machine, but directed to a different display, and then disconnect and
reconnect when needed? this would be a private X session and not the one
someone sitting in front of the machine would be looking at.

Mark

Ah I don't think there is a difference, if you use vnc or if you run some
exportetd application in both cases you have to transmit the
 grafic details,
I think if you reduce the detail by setting options in vnc you will even
have better performance with vnc, than running an exported app.
Correct me guys if I'm wrong.

P.S. I've never heard of an app that could do such a thing.

 Hello,
I'm looking for a tool that would do with X11 windows something
 similar that
screen does with consoles. Something that would let me detach from windows
and re-attach to them from somewhere else. I don't want the overhead of
grabbing the whole desktop (like vnc). Is there something in portage?
Else, does portage provide a console client for eMule?
 TIA

Not in portage, but xmove does it. There's another too, but I can't
recall it.

thanks.
I found xmove for debian only and I don't know what to do with .deb files.
I also found xmx http://www.cs.brown.edu/software/xmx/ but couldn't get it to
compile :-(
