[gentoo-user] Filesize error downloading eigen-3.0.3

2012-01-25 Thread denis cohen
Hi,

I am trying to install freecad which pulls in dev-cpp/eigen-3.0.3.
I get a filesize error which prevents installation of eigen.
Any clues on how to solve this problem?
Thanks

Denis

If you are certain the file is correct, you can use ebuild to rebuild
the digest. Keep in mind tho, if there is something wrong with the
file, you get to keep the pieces. It will build/compile that even if
it is altered somehow that it shouldn't be. Basically, that bypasses
all the security portage has to make sure you get the right thing.

Also, when you sync again, it will be reset to whatever is in the tree.
 This is temporary.

I think the command is something like ebuild
path-to-ebuild-including-version digest

If you are not certain of the file, wait a while then sync again. If
you are in a hurry, try to find the closest Gentoo server, which I would
think would get updated the fastest, and sync with it.

Hope this helps.

emerge --sync and try again.

If that fails, try again using a different mirror.

If that fails, file a bug report.

You could also try downloading the file directly from the project's web
site and putting it in $DISTDIR.

[gentoo-ppc-user] -mabi=altivec in CFLAGS

2010-12-02 Thread Konstantin Tokarev
Hi all,

AFAIK, some packages (e.g., dev-cpp/eigen) can use AltiVec vectorization
only when -mabi=altivec is specified in GCC flags.

Is it safe to use -mabi=altivec in global CFLAGS in make.conf?
Does anybody know if the system will perform better or worse in average?

This means that calligra needs the kdepim USE flag enabled, not that a

You're on the right track, but missing on the detail:

The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
calligra_features_plan? ( kdepim )

means it needs USE=kdepim

Either add it globally in make, conf or just for calligra in package.use

You got this error because USE=kdepim is not in the list of flags for
calligra itself, so you didn't know to add it.

Beware though, this will pull in an almighty list of kde stuff, which
you might not want

I'm getting confused too now. You only have krita in FEATURES, yet it
wants to pull in plan. And, your posted output seems to have a typo.
Yes, it does have kdepim in USE, but it's right in the middle of the
unset list. Are you 100% certain that post is correct?

What I did in the past is to enable all calligra features except plan
(as that pulls in kdepim which I certainly don't want - it's a complete
POS, doesn't work, and has caused many people to lose mails including
me) so I put this in make.conf:

CALLIGRA_FEATURES=author braindump flow karbon kexi krita sheets stage
words -plan

You might have some portage config file pollution. Can you post the
output of:

egrep -ir calligra|plan|kdepim /etc/portage

This says that activating the contribdnn flag also needs the contrib
flag to be activated. Hard to give any direct advice without knowing
what you are trying to do. On my computers I don't install opencv, so
the easiest solution if you don't need it is to remove the opencv flag
from any packages you have installed.

[gentoo-user] GCC 10.1 SUCKS.

2020-05-14 Thread Alan Grimes
IMNSHO GCC 10-1 is the suckeyest pile of sucking suck that ever did
suck

I am going to have to base my system on 9.3...

KDE really can't update itself, I really had to flog the living bleep
out of it to get it, and a lot of other stuff to settle down...

The configure phases for most of these packages are so monsterously
inefficient that I have to run dozens of builds concurently to get CPU

various packages only blip the histogram for a fraction of a second...

Thank you Arve, with the two use flags contribdnn and contrib, it works
fine.
I admit that i've been confused with "this change violates use flag
constraints" and all the stuff "cpu_flags_x86_avx2? ( cpu_flags_x86_f16c )
cpu_flags_x86_f16c? ( cpu_flags_x86_avx )..."
Now, i understand the meaning of use_flag1 (use_flag2).

I have to emerge opencv as kdenlive is installed and needs mlt which needs
opencv... so...

Thanks again,

  Hi Alan,

thanks for your reply ! :)

I copied your use flags and started emerge...

  Got this from the oracle:

!!! Problem resolving dependencies for app-office/calligra
  ... done!

!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy calligra has unmet requirements.
  - app-office/calligra-2.8.7::gentoo USE=attica crypt eigen exif

(-sybase) -test -vc -xbase ABI_X86=64 CALLIGRA_FEATURES=author
braindump flow karbon kexi krita plan sheets stage words

The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
  calligra_features_plan? ( kdepim )

The above constraints are a subset of the following complete expression:
  calligra_features_author? ( calligra_features_words )
  calligra_features_krita? ( eigen exif lcms ) calligra_features_plan? (
  kdepim ) calligra_features_sheets? ( eigen ) vc? (
  calligra_features_krita ) test? ( calligra_features_karbon )

And if I had learned from previous given holy mubles of the great
portage it means: The feature calligra_features_plan of calligra wants
kdepim installed which in turn (I tried to emerge it) cannot be found
  as ebuild.

I smy prophecy in so far correct or need I more spider legs and frog
eyes in the mystric soup? ;)

Beware though, this will pull in an almighty list of kde stuff, which
  you might not want

  alan.mckin...@gmail.com

  Hi Alan,

thanks for the support again! :)

These are the USE flags, which were active during the compilation,
  which produces the above error

app-office/calligra attica crypt eigen exif fontconfig freetds glew

  -xbase CALLIGRA_FEATURES=krita

  Kdepim was set.

On the other hand -- you mentioned this will pull a lot of kde-stuff.
I only wnat krita...is there a more convenient, faster way to get
krita running without pulling the whole kde ?

  Best regards,
  Meino

It seems like ffmpeg 6 has been unmasked? Haven't synced my tree in a
few days, but it seems right according to packages.gentoo.org.

Your two examples, sci-libs/vtk and media-libs/opencv, requires the
older subslot version. These things tend to sort themselves out with
world rebuilding, unless they really require something older. There
probably is a tracker bug for ffmpeg 6 unmasking, where you could see
if your packages are not supported for ffmpeg 6 yet.

That all looks quite normal - poppler triggered 8 rebuilds.

Is the problem just on the other machine (this one looks fine)?

and on a different machine portage couldn't resolve blocking itself.

I'll try this (big) re-emerge later on.

I recompiled stable and it was fine. I also unmasked 2.9.11, and it
compiled fine as well:

That did it.  I thought I had already checked for a unstable version but
I guess I either didn't or it wasn't there.  That's usually the first
thing I check.  That solved that problem.  Now to figure out why ffmpeg
is griping.  I ran into it last week too.  This is the beginning of
that.  It's to long to post the whole thing.

It was unmasked here but I had done that.  I removed it from the keyword
file, and some other entries elsewhere, and the stable version appears
to be version 4.  Version 5 and 6 are not marked stable, they're
keyworded, masked or both.

I don't run a strictly stable or unstable system here.  I suspect this
is due to one package being unstable and me marking it for use and
another is not.  I'll just have to dig around until I figure out which
one is offending emerge so badly.  It's quite a list but I bet it is in
there, somewhere.  lol

Thanks.

Howdy,

I'm sure I'm not alone on monitoring -dev to see upcoming changes. I
noticed they switched to git or something and it seems to have caused a
bit of trouble. At least I think it may have. I did my usual 'eix-sync
emerge -uvaDN world'. The sync took MUCH longer than usual. I'm
talking a WHOLE LOT longer than usual. My first thought, one time thing
because of the changes, maybe. Then I got a screen full of this sort of
stuff.

[gentoo-user] Why is portage insisting that I upgrade media-libs/opencv?

2014-03-28 Thread Chris Stankevitz
Hello,

Can anyone tell me why portage is insisting on upgrading me from
opencv-2.4.5 to opencv-2.4.8?

I would not expect portage to want to do this because:

1. opencv-2.4.8 is unstable (and I run a stable system)

2. opencv-2.4.5 is masked

Thank you,

Chris

Re: [gentoo-user] Why is portage insisting that I upgrade media-libs/opencv?

2014-03-28 Thread Alan McKinnon
On 29/03/2014 01:05, Chris Stankevitz wrote:
 Hello,

Can anyone tell me why portage is insisting on upgrading me from
 opencv-2.4.5 to opencv-2.4.8?

It's not doing that.

You need opencv as it's a dep for something, and portage wants you to
have a version that's in the tree. The only stable version is 2.4.5 but
you have masked that in package.mask

So you have left portage no choice but to ask you to upgrade to a higher
version, all of which are marked ~arch. Therefore portage is giving you
the package.unmask entries to accomplish that and thereby asking you
pretty please to make everything consistent again on your machine.

Or you could remove that entry from package.mask and deal with what happens.

I would not expect portage to want to do this because:

 1. opencv-2.4.8 is unstable (and I run a stable system)

 2. opencv-2.4.5 is masked

 Thank you,

 Chris

I'm not the OP. (I spend less time than him on maintaining my

Should those variables really not be set in make.conf? I added
them to make.conf some time back because portage complained about
them, and if I comment them out, it complains again, like so:

[snip]

The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
  python? ( exactly-one-of ( python_single_target_python3_3
  python_single_target_python3_4 python_single_target_python2_7 ) )

I have never set them and don't remember having an issue.

From the above, it looks like they are all unset when you remove that
 line.

I think that's right.

 Which profile are you using?

default/linux/amd64/13.0/desktop/kde

And what is the rest of your make.conf?

Before you pore through it, I guess I should point out that it's not
causing me any problems -- I was just curious about why it would be a
bad idea for me to manage those PYTHON_* variables myself. I guess the
most notable thing about my make.conf is that I'm one of those crazy
USE=-* people.

[gentoo-user] opencv problem

2021-11-25 Thread Jacques Montier
Hello all,

I encounter a problem with emerging opencv-4.5.2-r3 so i can't do any
emerge world anymore.
I get this :

media-libs/opencv-4.5.2-r3::gentoo (Change USE: +contribdnn, this change
violates use flag constraints defined by media-libs/opencv-4.5.2-r3:
'cpu_flags_x86_avx2? ( cpu_flags_x86_f16c ) cpu_flags_x86_f16c? (

Changing the contribdnn use flag does not solve the problem.

emerge --info in attached file.

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

[gentoo-user] ffmpeg: WARNING: One or more updates/rebuilds have been skipped due to a dependency conflict

2023-12-04 Thread Dale
Howdy,

I either started a thread on this a while back or it was mentioned
inside another thread.  This has been popping up for months now.  Either
I have something set wrong or there is a problem in a ebuild or
something.  I just don't know what.  This is what I get.  I'm having to
use this command because it does update everything else.  This however
triggers the same as I get during a regular world update.

root@fireball / # emerge -auDN ffmpeg mpv mplayer

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

Re: [gentoo-user] blender 2.80 or 2.81?

any idea what's the easiest way to get 2.80 or 2.81 running on gentoo?

and any idea how when to expect the 2.80 or 2.81?

You could copy the attached ebuild to a local overlay like
/usr/local/portage/media-gfx/blender
and copy the attached patch to
/usr/local/portage/media-gfx/blender/files

run
ebuild /usr/local/portage/media-gfx/blender/blender-.ebuild manifest

and then

emerge -av1 media-gfx/blender

This gives you the most recent version of blender.

You are doing something wrong, as that exact same config works here. Do
you have the kde-testing overlay installed? Did you emerge @kde-4.2 or
emerge @kde? The latter will give you you the latest unstable snapshots
  which may or
may not work. Use these links, etc:

  a...@nazgul ~ $ ls -al /etc/portage/package.keywords/kde*
  lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 85 Feb 11 17:15
  /etc/portage/package.keywords/kde-4.2 -

  /etc/portage/package.unmask/kde-4.2 -

  /var/portage/local/layman/kde-testing/Documentation/package.unmask/kde-4.
 2.0

Then copy the set file from
  $PORTDIR/local/layman/kde-testing/sets/kde-4.2 to
  /etc/portage/sets, then run

  emerge -av @kde-4.2

If you don't have the overlay installed, I can send you then files as
  attachments if you want.

Thanks Alan, please send me the file i am not using the kde-overlay. I will
 try again tonight. Many thanks!

 Cheers!.

kde-4.2 set file. Copy to /etc/portage/sets/
kde-4.2.keywordskeywords. Copy to /etc/portage/package.keywords/
kde-4.2.0 unmask. I don't think you need this.
It's here just in case.

[gentoo-user] now in blocked packages hell. =\

2016-03-06 Thread Alan Grimes
I guess I deserve congratulations for graduating from useflag hell. Now
I'm in blocked packages hell. I tried to cure it by uninstalling things
but now I've hit two packages that I consider to be high-priority...
though I've started using a windows 7 machine to access my cannon
camera.

Clearly, it is inconceivable that there is any possibility of updating
any package on this system until these two packages are uninstalled. =\
I mean, simply isolating the conflicting part of the package tree and
updating everything that isn't affected by those packages makes no sense
whatsoever and is a computationally intractable problem

tortoise ~ # ./pretendupdate

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
